JPeg continues her run, handles Krejcikova rather easily.

If Jessica ever hurts her leg, the reports before the next match:

"There is some concern with the Peg Leg and how it may affect play."

Happy for Korda, but only his girlfriend & coach were at the match, because his sister (Nelly) was in a golf tournament in the Orlando area, which is a short drive from Bradenton (southern Tampa area). She was tied for second going into today's final round.

Donna finally handles the youngster.

And Magda sends Caroline home right after. Ouch.

I think that everyone had Magda Linette as the one Polish player that people could see playing in the Quarterfinals.

Hubie & Iga have a ways to go to match her level.

Shelton/Wolf is a solid match.  I remember having seen Wolf last year in some random tournament and being impressed.  Shelton's serve is a rocket.

It's weird how different they look from your average European.  tOSU v. Florida. Mullets must be a thing at tOSU.

Yeah, he ditched the mullet in favor of the muscle shirt zinc oxide mask combo.  He's a bit ridiculous, but his baseline game is pretty great.  He needs to complete the look with some jorts.

The speed of Shelton's serve is mental.

You must be new if you think that he didn’t have a muscle shirt in the past.

Occasionally he’s sporting moobs under that tank/muscle-t.

The left ear gold stud goes nicely with his gold chain(s).

I described him earlier today to a buckeye lady who I dated a decade ago. She thought that I was being judgmental, but I countered that I was just being descriptive:

“The Ohio State (male) tennis player who has a body by Budweiser, a left ear earring, a gold chair or two, who wears sleeveless shirts and shorts that look like something in between jorts and chambray shorts is playing tonight to advance to the Quarterfinals of the Australian Open.

He looks like a refined version of what people think of when the news reports that couches are being burned in the streets by rowdy Ohio State fans.

He’s not rocking this level of a mullet at this year’s Aussie Open, but you know he still has the mullet virus just waiting to explode at any time.

He’s looking much more business/ corporate this year.

Here he is after stomping Argentine midget, 5’4” Diego Schwartzman in the battle of the Crucifix vs Star of David.

He’s easy to root for and always seems to be really positive on the court. Not a a complainer or one who miles and tries to push the limits of the rules.“

The Russian resident representing Kazakhstan defeats Violet Beauregarde in straights. It was amusing listening to Brad Gilbert tiptoe around her hefty size when talking about the keys to the match. At one point comparing Jelena to other players he said she was "slower.....obviously"

The name “Jelena” apparently carries a lot of weight these days.

1) Tommy Paul choked a bit late in the 3rd set and lose his one break lead and then lost the set 5-7. He won it in 4 sets.

2) Ben Shelton is going to be a monster on the tour sooner than later.

3) The Top 20 is soon going to be littered with American flags 🇺🇸.

4) Tommy’s girlfriend, Paige Lorenz, is very attractive and has inflated lips. I’m guessing that she lives on IG/TikTok.

5) Tommy’s mother works at a hospital in New Jersey. She got off work Monday, went straight to the airport, flew some route that flies to Melbourne, and arrived to the hotel in Melbourne at about 8:30am to knock on Tommy’s door to let him know that she had arrived to watch Tommy’s first Grand Slam quarterfinal match ever and he won.

6) Ben & Tommy had a nice chat at the net and then the cameras showed that after Tommy’s on-court interview and off-court hallway interview with Darren Cahill, Tommy entered the locker room warm up/cool down area and hugged his delicious girlfriend, then his mom, then each member of his coaching/training team, and then went over to Ben and his team l, as they were around Ben peddling on an exercise bike, and chatted with them again. All smiles.

Tommy has known Ben’s father for a decade or so and has kind of taken Ben under his wing in this first ever venture outside the U.S.

7) Novak crushed Rublev in straight sets (1,2,4) and plays Tommy next.

No one likes Novak, except for the Serbs that fled the atrocities that they committed in the former Yugoslavia and settled in Australia. He’ll have vocal support late Thursday night (Australia’s Friday) for the match against Tommy.

The commentators love to keep saying that this is/was a quality match when it was pitifully played when push came to shove.

I think that the last 3 games of the match were breaks of serve. Just mentally weak. Just poorly played. Kind of embarrassing for the game, but hey, they make as much as the men (even though they play 2 of 3 vs 3 of 5) so we have to act like it isn’t an inferior product.

Some women’s matches a really good… this wasn’t one of them.

Karen is not getting any love from the manager. Tsitsipas may win this in 2 1/2 hours before Djokovic trounces Tommy P. In 2 hours. [sad emoji]

Then tomorrow Sabalenka will make Rybakina move and Rybakina will hit a million balls into the net. There will be double faults and broken serves and I expect Sabalenka to win in straight sets.

Tommy Paul choked at the end of the first set and fucked away easy shots the rest of the match.

Carlos Álcaraz would have beaten Novak last night, maybe in straight sets.

Novak is not in shape right now. He has been very fortunate to get all night matches, because he was laboring last night in moderate to cool conditions and the match only went 2 hrs 20 mins.

If Tsitsipas’s dad can get him to extend all rallies, Novak may die in Rod Laver arena on Sunday. 🙏
