Youth Minister's (and other pervs) Thread of Shame

Jesus, when I said our youth needed more religion in their souls...this is not what I meant.

That's a ridiculously light sentence.  But at least Texas is focusing on punishing the right people who might possibly be sexually in appropriate around children.

I wouldn't worry about this guy too much.  Folks like him have a tendency to have accidents while out hunting.

As long as you don't spend it on books about kids having two dads.

I've said it 1000 times.  The man who is going to molest your children isn't on a parade float or co-starring in a drag show.  He's a relative, coach, teacher, or religious leader.  You have shaken his hand, he has been in your home, you have broken bread with him.  There is the guy in the van, there is the weird omni-sexual guy, there is the mentally unstable guy on the corner to worry about.  They are the 1%.  99% of the children getting raped tomorrow, the man doing it has already looked the kid's parents in the eye and the parents smiled back.  Because the pedophile doesn't sell tickets to their brunch performance, he comes as your friend or your wife's brother or your preacher.  Been this way for thousands of years.

I didn’t need the explanation….I was making fun of our recent poster wanting to print money whom said he had been to jail for child pornography.

Holy schnikies, I am 99% sure I went to high school with the dude in the first post.  Hadn’t heard about any of this.  Wow.

what ever happened to Crazy Chick/Preacher Boy?
asking for a friend, and a bunch of SSSQ posters (maybe @d2o might know, we were both on a Detroit sports board with Preachy Boy)

I can't remember his name - or I'd see if he was still preaching up here in my part of the world

The first guy got a light sentence due to a plea deal. Sounds like the DA thought he might not get convicted at trial and wanted the victims to get “some” Justice.  Anyways fuck that guy, but after reading his supervised release requirements, he’s basically shut out from the rest of the world. He might have been better off getting raped himself in prison.

Here are two more; the first example actually occurred in Germany where the age of consent is lower--14 years. Also: in the US there is a movement to return to younger age of consent and *consent to marry laws. Apparently, being that it is young women and girls it is somehow acceptable to groom them because it's females and their lives are of no consequence.

Germany: (sorry for the cut-off tweet, the tweeter took a screenshot of the pastor's instagram post which is now private.) Here's some background: the youth pastor posted an insta of his girlfriend (now wife) when she turned 18 with the caption--"I can't describe with words what you mean to me and what kind of person you are. You have been my best friend for 4 years, my girlfriend that I love....."

Second one in Indiana; only have a link:

Spoiler

Court Docs: youth pastor groomed teenager, took her away from home

Look, I've been telling y'all, these drag queen groomers are coming to pervert and abuse our children.  The only choice we have is to BACK THE BLUE, and TURN TO JESUS.  The cops and the good lord Jesus Christ, they're the only ones who can save our kids from these evil groomers!!!

Wait...hold on...what's that?  The cops and the Christians ARE the groomers?  SHIT.  I did NOT see that coming.

Okay, NEW PLAN....anyone got a new plan?  Because I still want to blame drag queens and the trans for all of this shit, and I gotta tell ya, that the main threat turned out to be from the very forces we've been lauding as our protectors is a SERIOUS curveball.

regarding this... i'm sure the proponents of this movement to lower the age of consent will be just fine when the relationship in question involves an adult man and a 15 yoa gay boy.

As someone who attended Catholic, Evangelical and Baptist schools over the years, it was kind of a puzzler to me how the Catholics got all the blame. This shit transcends faiths and race too.

Sure.

But it remains true.  IF what someone is TRULY worried about is "perv groomers gonna molest my kids!".....the cold hard math says that their kid is like 100X more likely to be sexually abused by a "trusted authority figure" (heavily weighted towards religious figures, but let's not discount coaches and cops) than by the dude who plays "Polly Darton" on drag night at the Velvet Parrot or whatnot.

Out gay and trans people, and flamboyant drag queens, are functionally zero threat to your kids.  Youth minister Jones, or Father O'Malley, or officer McFeely, are who you should be monitoring.  Instead.....you look to them as the SOLUTION.  It's not just dumb.  It's dumb underneath 180 degrees of "got it completely wrong."

Probably the systematic nature, in the biggest and wealthiest corporation in the world, and general fuck your well just move them to another church/region had something to do with it.   But agreed, it definitely transcends denominations.

Eta: right, wrong, or indifferent, it probably also had a lot to do with the fact it was boys being abused.

For what it is worth the two youth pastors I had growing up were quality individuals. Or maybe I just didn't have the right equipment.

The vitriol from the Right towards drag queens or whatever is beyond ridiculous to be sure.

Absolutely. Was just speaking about the religious subsector there.

....a subsector that is doing a LOT of the heavy lifting in the "who is molesting our kids?" category?

I mean, take "a family member, like creepy uncle Earl," and your next biggest pool of threats is likely to be folks in the "faith business."  No disagreement from me there.

But really, to protect our kids, we need to make sure that they are in CHURCH 5 nights a week, not seeing any wicked drag show!

I recently hear a first-hand account from one of Father Smylie's victims and am traumatized by proxy. Fucking disgusting.

It's okay.  The same folks who desperately want to protect us from gay people simply living their lives ALSO are going to great measures to protect religious institutions from being held accountable for sex abuse.  Those two things are literally happening right now, at the same time:

Quote

House Bill 4601, filed by State Rep. Jeff Leach, would change the statute of limitations in child sex abuse cases from 30 years to 15 years for institutional defendants and would require an increased burden of proof for non-perpetrator defendants.

We can't have people holding our beloved religious institutions accountable when we know that the REAL problem is some dude who finished third on RuPaul's Drag Race and does an AMAZING version of "Stormy Weather" on stage.

Sentences are way too light because the pervs fool the judges and prison staff just like they did the victims, the parents and the church staff. These pedophiles maybe in a church and employed by a church but they are not “christian”.

Or….and just walk with me here…when you understand that the label “Christian” is most useful as a sheik to justify all manner of misbehavior and cruelty because “how dare you attack my faith!” or “I’m a man of faith, so any transgression was a one-time thing, I won’t do it again, so take it easy on me,” then you realize they are VERY “Christian.”
They just don’t actually follow the message of the Gospels at all, but that doesn’t have anything to do with American Christianity.

American Christianity.

Confounding and hijacking a term that has been around for almost 2000 years is lazy way to attack a whole religion which is likely the premise of the thread beyond the mention of grotesque acts that need strict and severe accountability/punishment. The wolves in sheep’s clothing that are these monsters is clearly called out in scripture by Jesus himself and for good measure James calls out extra accountability for teachers which these people purport themselves. They are sick amoral individuals looking for an easy target. They are not “American Christians” or any “Christian” for that matter. The churches need to have their heads in a swivel for these individuals and separate them out from their victims and cooperate fully with law enforcement.

Sad to say this but there are too many cases where the call is coming from within the house and the church elders just hang up, place on indefinite hold or  the inevitable "sorry, wrong number."
