Maldy has called a perfect game.  Brown just keeps making mistakes.

Maldy doesn’t call Browns best pitch, the curveball, because he doesn’t like trying to catch a curveball.
this ump is a clown. No reason to punch Tucker out on that without a call down to 3rd for the check swing.

Great back pick decision there by Maldy. That’s the kind of veteran presence that makes a 570 ops preferable to a 780 ops 4 out of 5 nights.
And Tuckers stellar defense continues.
This team is amazing in many ways.
their manager isn’t exactly a tactician out there stealing games. They play 3 shitty offensive players a night (at least) when they could play 1 or 0 if they really wanted to, the defense isn’t all that great, the bullpen has last 6 games already and we are on pace to win 95 games and I think most here expect us to win 100.

So, 100 it is.

So goddamn tired of the Rangers somehow playing last place teams every fucking game.

Beyond that, the Rangers as a team are running a smooth .334 BABIP right now. That’s not necessarily 100% about luck, but it’s mostly an indicator of luck, and .300 tends to be right around the league average every year (including this year). They’re unlikely to sustain that over an entire season, but they’ve already banked 2 months of it.

(Of course, a team’s BABIP is largely irrelevant when it posts a K/BB ratio of 16/1 in a given game. Good effort, fellas.)

HPU was garbage. With a good robot ump it would have been 13/3 in K/BB!

The offense will always be inconsistent when you play 2 black holes, and 1 or 2 other players struggle. This is why the team goes from 12 runs to 1 a lot. When everyone hits the team scores runs, when most of the lineup reverts to their historical averages while playing Abreu and Maldonado this team can look awful. Also, the hitting coaches on this team are trash.

Another issue is this team doesn't take walks at all. Last year they were 3rd in the AL in walks, this year they are 12th.

It you heard Dana Brown on SS today he was basically calling Dusty an idiot and saying that it’s all his fault these stupid lineup decisions are being made and he has no power to do anything about it. With all due respect. And for a guy that I think he respects. In the nicest way possible. But yeah- it was basically all everyone on here who complains about these decisions being completely validated.

that, losing deGrom, and their easy schedule means they are likely to regress pretty hard as the season goes on.

and if they don't? well then tip your cap to them because they had a magical regular season.
