Joker sat for like 6 min and Miami went +1 in scoring differential. That’s been the untold stat with Denver is winning these games…they’re winning the non jokic minutes practically every game. And winning them convincingly

I can’t recall a time a team went on a significant run while joker sat

this has been huge for denver in the playoffs, and frankly it's been a big surprise. during the regular season denver was #1 in NET rating when jokic was on the court yet they were dead last in the NBA in NET when he was off the court. a)that's an insane stat, and b)its been very surprising and impressive how well they've done these playoffs when he's been out.

Miamis “other guys”, specifically their UDFAS

Max Strus:
Vs Mil: 6/3/.5, shot 45% including 41% from 3. Nothing eye popping but he’s a threat to hit a couple 3s and make the defense a little honest

Vs NY:
15/3.5/1.5 shooting 48% and dipped a little to 35% from 3.

Becoming a threat

Vs bos: 9.4/3/1 41%, 34% from 3

Coming back to earth but Boston has tough wing defenders so we’ll allow it.

Vs Den: 4/3.5/.5 on 16% from 2 and 19% from 3

Total loser effort against some decent defenders but he’s missing wide open shit

Gabe Vincent
Mil: 14/1/5 42%/42%
Ny: 10/2/5 32%/26% ick
Bos:16/2/2 48%/ 52% we’ve got something going into the finals!!
Den: 13/.5/2- hes had 2 very bad shooting games in Denver. No hope he turns it around for game 5

Caleb Martin
Mil: 11/5/2 63%, 43% solid to pretty good
NY:10/5/1 46%, 36%. Little regression but we’ll take it
Bos:-19/6/2 60%, 49% WHAATTT??? Had a case for ECF MVP!! LFGGG
Den: 7/4/1 35%, 45%. Absolute turd. Can’t handle the lights

Duncan Robinson:
Mil: 10/3/1 65%, 73% wow. Great shooter
NY: 6/1/1 27%, 28% wow. Terrible shooter
Bos : 11/1/2 55%, 48% ok decent bounce back, good shooter
Den:8/5/1 55%,44% serviceable but needs to shoot better

Miami probably needs 3 of these 4 to have their best game or the playoffs + Jimmy and Bam to play much better to win tomorrow. Because Denver’s gonna pull out the stops to win it on their court.

Strus shouldn’t play a min and Duncan Robinson is going to need more sets to get him some open looks.

i think you could make the case that their regression is coming at the best possible time. can't choke in the nba finals if you don't get to the nba finals, and miami doesn't get to the nba finals without a gang of undrafted role players playing above their heads for several rounds. this maimi team has hugely overachieved this postseason. easily one of the more impressive postseason runs i've seen a team make.

I'm a Dirk fan, think he's underrated.  But that is not a line up of scrubs.
Agreed. That was a pretty solid lineup around him and the best Dirk had. Finally got a legit big man in Chandler who helped. And this was all with Caron Butler being hurt for the year midway through.

I think Denver will close it out tonight at home. Miami is just outclassed on every level in this matchup, unless they come up with some brilliant new defense overnight that throws Denver off its game. The last game Miami tried to double Murray and Jokic on most possessions and force Gordon, Porter and Brown to beat them, and they did. It's not a bad strategy, but it gave those other guys tons of open looks from all over the floor, since they had 3 defenders trying to cover 4 guys. Lots of open passing lanes for Murray and Jokic to hit their teammates cutting to the basket for easy layups or pass out to open shooters for 3s. Jokic and Murray both had relatively average games, and they still won by 13 (but probably should have been even more).

Ref assignments for tonight:

Was hoping we’d get the extender on duty for such a crucial game
