Arch Manning, right now, is the best Texas qb since…???

i have to go back to colt before i pick another Texas qb to lead my team.

Yeah he was Colt 2009 last night. Got the yards with his feet to get into position for the FG in the first half. Was dealing with tremendous pressure that knocked him off his game. Answered with about one of the best performances we've seen. Running game finally worked and helped take the pressure off him.

I think he didn't for two coaching reasons.  First, fear of injury, second, developing an over-dependence on it.  He probably could have run his way out of numerous bad plays, some of his own making, with varying degrees of success, and probably also missed a couple more games.

As frustrating as it may have been not to have him run out of bad plays, Arch's ability to stand in the pocket, and often deliver, see above, is one of his great skills.

Arch has noted that there was some fear of running post the MSU injury, and that is absolutely understandable. Arch's ability to avoid sacks, keep his head down field and frequently deliver amazing passes is unmatched in college football right now. Those who can't see what an amazing job he's done this year with the lack of support he's had around him as a 1st year starter are haters and will continue to do so until he wins an national championship. If our HC gets him the support in OL, WR and RB he needs, he absolutely will.

Why doesn’t Arch just outrun the whole defense like last night? Is he stupid or something?

Can’t get hurt if you don’t get touched

I mean, you're not wrong.

What should scare the hell out of our future opponents is how fast Arch is progressing and what he's able to do despite still being as raw as he is.

Objectively his first month of the season was horrific. He had the yips against UTEP and parts of San Jose St. He was breaking inaccuracy records and looked like Ty Swoopes. I believe he was one bad quarter away from being benched.

His recovery has been impressive. Now I’m worried he’ll turn pro. My advice to him and his family is to return and not make a big deal about returning.

That being said, I think if the Saints have the first or second pick behind the Titans, they’d be down after some conversations.

With the way he's played down the stretch, I just hope he's back next season. Someone would take him in the 1st round.

He would have gone in the first round last season, he would have gone in the first round this year.

Arch will evolve to his final form if he can improve his accuracy in the short and intermediate passing game. That should be the primary focus in the offseason. It would do wonders for the offense if he could throw quick slants and crossers consistently.

He will come back and we should have one filthy offense next year. If we get a line to protect and unleash our 5 ️ freshman wideouts with Mosely and Wingo…we will be dangerous.

It don’t mean a shit if we have no run game - Sark has to fix the OL issues and find RBs.

either colt or VY was the last qb we’ve had who could do this. we’ve been waiting 15+ years for this. thank god we didn’t listen to surly and send arch to the portal after week five of his first year as a starter. limitless future.

Jerrod Heard did it for, like, 1 game

and this is where you always lose me. At this point in his career he isn't better than the guy that was here last year.

this is an insane take. better passer, higher iq, better athlete, incredible pocket presence vs terrible pocket presence, actual playmaker vs human folding chair, one guy who shrinks beneath the talent and production of everyone around him vs another guy who, as the best player and leader of his offense, lifts the play of everyone around him. it’s not even close. id entertain a debate about sam vs quinn, but arch is already beyond what QE ever was as a qb at Texas.

your cult like worship of quinn ewers has been duly noted, and your fanaticism at this point is unmatched. arch is going to get heisman votes this year. imagine what he could have done with any of quinn’s supporting casts.

whenever our offense stalls out, it’s never like, “oh no, arch is missing wide open receivers a turtling in the pocket and taking too many sacks”, it’s like, “holy shit our o line sucks, our receivers can’t catch, and sark has no idea what he’s doing.”

conversely, our offense this season doesn’t roll at all without arch playing a big part in that. it’s a stunning contrast to quinn ewers, who was surrounded by superior talent, who had a great o line in front of him, who constantly had a clean pocket to work with, yet who was erratic, and inaccurate, and who self-sacked like nobody i’ve ever seen. over the last two seasons, whenever our offense stalled out it was usually because quinn ewers was missing open receivers and creating sacks out of thin air. now we have a qb who has inferior talent all around him, who makes huge plays out of nothing, who has pocket presence like veteran pro, and who leads his team to scoring drives an wins.

we are at the point where anyone who still thinks that it’s even a conversation between quinn and arch is truly beyond reason.

Yeah it's pretty clearly not close - and Quinn had a really nice couple of years to end his career here. The guys around Quinn made him look good. Arch makes the guys around him look good.

I don't think Arch lost a fumble all season. He's a tough motherfucker and getting better at making chicken salad out of chicken something else.

No disrespect you man but this is a retarded take.

Look dude, Arch is better throwing the ball down the field and stronger in the pocket. But that's where it stops. Quinn was better reading defenses. Faster through his progressions. Faster getting the ball out. More accurate from intermediate back. I don't know how you still don't see it.

Arch struggles with his accuracy on anything not moving north and south. So much so our coach, known for not having stationary routes in his passing concepts, had to move to more stationary passing concepts. Thats why these last weeks you've seen so many receivers just sitting down in a zone waiting to receive a ball. Last night what you saw a QB who was struggling because you can't run stationary routes vs man.

Look, I get that you don't like Ewers, but at this point it should be pretty clear what was happening last year which is the same bullshit that was happening this year. Slow developing plays. 12 personnel all game. No running game vs big time opponents. Last year Ewers threw for 358 vs Georgia despite no running game and a bunch of receiver drops. And Georgia was better defensively last year.

You need to stop with the bullshit dude. You don't win as consistently as we did without solid QB play.

You are seriously over-valuing the talent last year.

Arch is the best QB since Quinn who was the best QB since Sam who was the best QB since Colt who was the best QB since Vince who was the best QB since Simms who was the best QB since Brown who was the best since Gardere who was the best QB since and so on

Don't call his take retarded just because you disagree. That's fucking lame. Especially when you lead it with "no disrespect" and then proceed to say something disrespectful.

He was 27/46 and threw 2 picks and put up -27 rushing yards. And Texas lost. What a legendary game from Quinn. 🙄

quinn was limited, erratic, inaccurate, and he held his offense back, two years in a row. arch is the best player on his offense and is making lemons out of lemonade, which is the opposite of what quinn did.

we all agree that this team deserves to be in the playoff, and we all know that the talent surrounding the qb is wildly subpar compared to that of both of QE’s last two supporting casts. quinn kept his team from going further in the playoffs than they should have with his poor throws and self sacks, while arch has led his team to the doorstep of the playoff despite his teammates and coaches seemingly conspiring against him on a weekly basis. player vs player arch is better than quinn, and impact vs impact it’s arch >>> quinn. seriously, this can’t still be a debate.

if we had that ^^^ the last two seasons we have another national title, maybe two.

One of those picks went through the hands of his receiver. 358 vs Georgia's defense is no slouch.

I called his take retarded because we aren't acknowledging how we hand to change the entire offensive scheme in order for Arch to start looking competent as a passer. We went from primarily running a NFL offense with a higher percentage of 12 personnel to basically running a Veer and Shoot spread. We went from always running moving routes to stationary ones. We even changed the RPO to a hitch. We have never done that. The coach himself is telling you through play calling that this is what Arch can currently hit.

This isn't opinion this is fact. We never did that for Ewers. Anything he got was in the confines of Sark's clunky, 12 personnel, NFL offense. Yet he still performed. Yall need to give the dude his props for that. What would Arch look like if we never changed the entire offense? Would they still be calling him a bust? Arch will likely pass Quinn as a passer next year, but let's not act like Ewers wasn't a good player. Geez

we’re literally back to back defending national champions if quinn ewers was capable of doing this.

Derka, Arch still can't throw basic routes to keep the offense on schedule bro. That's the most important aspect to QBing. Sark has found what he can do well and is doing a solid job of featuring it.
