Senior Israeli Defense Officials have now Confirmed that the Explosion earlier today at the Jabalia Refugee Camp in Northern Gaza was the result of a IAF Airstrike which was conducted in Close-Coordination between the IDF and Shin Bet to Assassinate the Commander of Hamas’s Central Jabalia Battalion, Ibrahim Biari who is reported to have been a Primary Commander for the Surprise Attack against Southern Israel on October 7th; the Strike on the Jabalia Refugee Camp was Successful in Killing the Hamas Leader while also Destroying several Tunnels as well as an Underground-Command and Control Center used by the Terror Organization.

Meanwhile, (SIAP) the Houthi rebels are chiming in and publicly announcing that they've been launching drones/missiles today and they are doing their "these are launched by the official government of Yemen" spiel, trying to muddy the waters.

Israel shot down one or more, but I'm curious if the US and Saudis did as well.

Edit: also, they had to have had the blessing of Iran.

Bolivia weighing in.

LA PAZ, Oct 31 (Reuters) - Bolivia's government said it had broken diplomatic ties with Israel on Tuesday, accusing Israel of committing crimes against humanity in its attacks on the Gaza Strip.

Bolivia "has decided to break diplomatic relations with the Israeli state in repudiation and condemnation of the aggressive and disproportionate Israeli military offensive taking place in the Gaza Strip," Deputy Foreign Minister Freddy Mamani announced at a press conference.

At least a quarter of buildings in northern Gaza are damaged, analysis estimates
Tens of thousands of buildings in Gaza, including at least a quarter of all buildings in northern Gaza, appear damaged or destroyed, according to an analysis of satellite imagery. The assessment offers a newly detailed picture of the widespread devastation caused by the Israeli bombardment of Gaza in the past several weeks.

While only an estimate, the spatial analysis indicates the enormous destructiveness of Israel’s bombing campaign, which has become one of the most intense of the 21st century. Israeli strikes in Gaza have killed more than 8,000 people, according to Gazan health officials.

Between 38,200 and 44,500 buildings throughout the Gaza Strip are estimated to have been damaged or destroyed since the beginning of the war, according to the analysis, by two researchers, Jamon Van Den Hoek of Oregon State University and Corey Scher of CUNY Graduate Center.

The analysis includes damage from the beginning of the war until Sunday, before a strike hit a densely populated residential area in Jabaliya on Tuesday.

Wide swaths of Gaza City and the surrounding area have been damaged, with the greatest damage concentrated north of the city, according to the assessment, which identified individual building footprints that were likely damaged based on an analysis of satellite imagery. Throughout Gaza, about 14 percent of buildings appear to be damaged or destroyed.

Since Oct. 25, the Israeli military’s aerial bombardment has damaged many homes and residential buildings, as well as commercial buildings, in northern Gaza. Israeli strikes also hit near Al Quds Hospital in Gaza City, where thousands were seeking refuge.

The analysis shows that Israel has continued to strike southern Gaza even as it has renewed warnings for civilians to move there from the north. New damage is also visible near the Rafah crossing on the border with Egypt, the only access point for aid deliveries.

Airstrikes in southern Gaza since Oct. 25 have damaged many residences, a bakery and a mosque.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel categorically dismissed any possibility of a cease-fire in Gaza at a news conference late Monday, as Israeli troops pushed deeper into the territory and appeared to advance on densely populated Gaza City from three directions.

I think the Houthis have technically been at war with Israel for years but Israel didn’t notice.  Wild that they have so many fucking problems in Yemen, and Israel has fuckall to do with any of them.

It was similar in Pakistan, where I’d also hear endless rants about Israel and the Jews and none of them had anything to do with Pakistan, a place that had plenty of real fucking enemies.

This probably surprises no one, but it's still good to get confirmation that they're there.

American commandos are in Israel helping to locate hostages, the Pentagon says.

American commandos on the ground in Israel are helping locate the more than 200 hostages seized during Hamas’s surprise cross-border attacks on Oct. 7, the Pentagon’s top special operations policy official said on Tuesday.

“We’re actively helping the Israelis to do a number of things,” Christopher P. Maier, an assistant secretary of defense, told a special operations conference in Washington. He said that a main task was to help Israel “identify hostages, including American hostages. It’s really our responsibility to do so.”

Mr. Maier declined to say how many U.S. Special Operations forces were currently in Israel. But other U.S. officials say the Defense Department has dispatched several dozen commandos in recent days, in addition to a small team that was in Israel on Oct. 7 conducting previously scheduled training.

The officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss operational matters, said the commandos would join F.B.I., State Department and other U.S. government hostage-recovery specialists in their discussions with Israeli counterparts.

The U.S. Special Operations forces are not assigned any combatant roles in Israel, but they are talking through with their Israeli counterparts “what is going to be a very complex fight going forward” in Gaza, Mr. Maier said.

In his discussions with his Israeli counterpart, Defense Secretary Lloyd J. Austin II has stressed the need for careful consideration of how Israeli forces conduct a ground invasion of Gaza, where Hamas maintains an intricate network of tunnels under densely populated areas.

“We will work with them as much as possible to help advise them on those types of activities,” Mr. Maier said.

Several Western countries have secretly moved small teams of their own special forces closer to Israel to help with any potential rescue operation and to be nearby to assist in any large-scale evacuations of their citizens from Israel or Lebanon.

Mr. Maier said U.S. Special Operations forces in the region are also poised “to help our own citizens get out of places and to help our embassies be secure.”

Yeah, I don’t think the optics of deploying the Wehrmacht to fix this problem will work out as envisioned.

Bundeswehr, under new management.

Fine, because arrows cost money just send in the Irish. Not sure the Israelis would like it but the Irish are neutral. Granted their neutrality is why they wouldn't do it.

Send them and the Canadians to represent the west.

Let Egypt patrol Gaza. Only US support should be ISR and logistics. But do not expect US combat elements in that theater.

Is it just me, or do the Israelis seem to be talking to us a lot about this stuff, maybe even taking some advice?

I don't recall the Israelis doing so much talking with American officials/military personnel over the past 10-20 years or so, but that could be because it wasn't of interest to me and so I didn't notice it.

Since the 1970's we have maintained a SOCOM presence working with them. Quiet, but present.

They are trying to avoid Mogadishu and Operation Red Wings type stuff.  Military always says lessons and procedures are written in blood.  We lost a lot of special forces fighting terrorists in the urban desert environment because those guys learned that hiding in civilian populations set up easy ambush.  I think after Red wings when we lost 2 battalions of Tier 1 operators, it was quietly pushed that some collateral damage was acceptable.  ie drop smaller bombs

There are two conflicts here- first, between Hamas and Israel, fighting terror, debating policy.

The second, like an umbrella over it, is the axis of Iran, Russia, China and closely aligned nations vs. the liberal democracies of the west. Iran, Russia and China see the local conflict as an opportunity to further their own goals. Iran wants to scuttle Sunni alliances and cooperation with the west. Russia wants to drain munitions resources and western attention from Ukraine. China wants to sow dissension in the western alliances and get its economic expansion going again (and see if the time looks good to make a go at Taiwan).

"China wants to sow dissension in the western alliances ... get its economic expansion going again ... see if the time looks good to make a go at Taiwan."

These would seem to be somewhat mutually exclusive.

China getting their economy going again is dependent on increased western demand, even if there is dissension among the demanding members. Any Chinese overt action towards Taiwan would seem to incur Russia 2.0 levels of western sanctions leveled against China, which puts a black boot on China's neck and economic growth.

Their position towards Taiwan has been clear, but Taiwan v. economic growth seems to be an either or choice.

this is a good point.  Then again, 1/3rd of Americans think we made $500bn from "China Tariffs" by having them make our neckties so what the fuck do we know?

And you’re assuming they are making clearly logical choice. Chairman Xi has a ton of “Yes Men” around him, if he wants to go after Taiwan, they’ll confirm it’s a great idea regardless of what the eventual consequences are.

He suffers from the same circle of trust that Putin does, as many tyrannical leaders do.  Too many people telling him he's the smartest person in the room.  Happens even here in the West.  But unlike our own high-functioning retards, Xi is an actual highly-intelligent person.  He has already gamed this out and knows how, for the next few years at least, an invasion/annexation of Taiwan plays out with his trading partners.  His cadre can cheerlead all they want, but in the end---he knows how this goes.  Taking another crack at it around 2030 or so is the wiser move.  He's a young 70.  He's got time and lots of mentees to puppetmaster.

A buddy of mine, who is a former JSOC guy (Green Beret) and is now an independent contractor who gets interviewed on the major news channels, told me we do not have enough good intel to send in our top guys.  His point is we have around 300 Delta Force operators.  It takes a lot of time and money to train those guys up.

You do not risk getting 30 of those guys getting killed to rescue hostages unless the risk to the operators is low.  You risk 30 of those guys getting killed to stop a nuclear attack no matter the risk.  But not to rescue hostages.

He referenced how much it hurt and was difficult to replace the 15 Seal Team 6 guys who died in Afghanistan.  Those tier one operators are difficult to replace.

Well this sucks. Wonder why Egypt did this. We provide them quite a bit of development and military assistance. We contribute troops to the multi-national force in the Sinai.

Found a story on the deal that was negotiated. It looks like Americans can start being evacuated tomorrow.

Here’s what we know about the deal allowing some people to leave Gaza.

After three weeks of thwarted hopes and intensive diplomatic negotiations, the first group of people to evacuate Gaza since the war between Israel and Hamas began on Oct. 7 was beginning to arrive in Egypt.

Thousands of foreign passport holders and people affiliated with international organizations are set to evacuate to Egypt starting on Wednesday. Several seriously injured Palestinians arrived on Wednesday, Egyptian state TV and a local medical official said, and hundreds of foreign passport holders were moving through checkpoints at the Rafah border crossing.

More were to follow in the coming days, according to Gazan authorities and Western diplomats.

The agreement to allow them to cross came together late on Tuesday in talks that have been continuing among Israel, Egypt, Hamas, the United States and Qatar.

Here’s what we know about the departures:

  • The list of people set to leave on Wednesday included foreign citizens and dual passport holders from Australia, Austria, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Finland, Indonesia, Japan and Jordan, as well as staff members from aid organizations including Doctors Without Borders, the International Committee of the Red Cross and UNRWA, the United Nations agency that aids Palestinians. Officials at the U.N. agency emphasized that it would rotate in new staff members to replace the outgoing workers.
  • There are also 81 wounded people who are being taken for treatment in Egypt, the Gazan authorities and Egyptian state media said. Some family members are traveling to Egypt with them as escorts. The full group leaving in the medical convoys numbers about 130, a senior Western diplomat in Cairo said.
  • Starting Thursday, 1,000 foreign passport holders and Palestinian staff members of international organizations are expected to leave each day via the Rafah crossing, Western diplomats in Cairo said. It was unclear how long the departures would go on, but the diplomats said they were expected to continue until everyone who is eligible and willing to leave can do so.
  • American citizens are not among those scheduled to leave on Wednesday, but they will come out in groups starting as soon as Thursday, the diplomats said. The U.S. State Department has emailed American citizens in Gaza to tell them to prepare to leave, informing them that they will be assigned specific departure dates.
  • After weeks of stalled negotiations among Israel, Egypt, Hamas, the United States and Qatar — which was communicating with Hamas because the United States and Israel do not have formal relations with the group — the agreement came together suddenly on Tuesday. Egypt instructed foreign embassies late Tuesday night to head to Rafah to receive their citizens, amid some uncertainty about which countries’ citizens would depart when, the diplomats said.

I would think every single one of those tunnels are rigged with explosives too.  This whole thing reminds me of Command and Conquer video game.  You have the West, A China/Russia Pact, and a conglomerate of terrorists.

All true.

We know they're over there because of the whole doxxing fiasco online.  They are tremendous at putting together target packages and location of the bad guys (see Escobar), but I don't see them actively engaged.  Let the IDF SF do the heavy lifting
