He went to every single county in Texas and spoke truth to people. That is more than the basics

No, not really. Campaigning everywhere that you can find an audience and speaking to people directly is like the definition of the basics and used to be the norm before professional consultants turned Texas Democrats into the Washington Generals.

As a perennially hopeful Stanford fan, I resent that.

Cool. Who else has done it?  You think Crockett would?

We’ll see. But they are both more likely to set up and run good campaigns if they have to get through the other first.

It’s interesting seeing how far your info spreads when you make a single contribution to a D or an R. My text inbox has political AIDS.

My inbox is polluted with MAGA shit presumably because my voter registration card used to say R.  Or my voting history prior to 2016.  That's kind of scary.

To be fair, the biggest problem all three of them shared is that they barely fucking campaigned.

Sent a lot of text messages, tho. Or at least Allred and Hager did. Lupe Valdez didn’t even do that much.

I literally don't remember anything about Valdez' campaign. Not one ad, not one campaign appearance, not one newspaper profile. I'm sure those things existed, but good god, what's that say when someone as politically engaged as we are can say something like that about a campaign for governor? She might not have received even 35% of the vote if Beto hadn't been on the ticket that year.

You must appreciate the practice for how many different ways you can tell people to fuck their own faces.

I'm still getting text messages from Allred.

Far over the horizon of human time, when the galactic explorers from beyond our conception arrive to sift through the dust of our world, they will be greeting by a text from Colin Allred asking for $10 and describing his lessons from football and his single mother.

"Did you know I played football? That's why I want to play nice with Republicans, who are right about everything that matters!"

I think he's referring to the 2018 Senate race that Beto lost by 2.5%

FWIW, the Democratic primary might as well have been uncontested for how feckless the other candidates were.

If Talarico were going up against Cruz, I think he’d beat that margin.  If Paxton wins the GOP primary and Talarico wins the Dem primary, I will expect a very very close race.  I don’t think Talarico or Crockett has much of a chance to beat Cornyn.

Dems should be rooting for Paxton to win the primary as much as the Republicans are rooting for Crockett.

My favorite Colin Allred moment was the commercial where he talked about wanting to work with the people who were lying about him.
