Ted Cruz is a piece of shit

For the people asking what could Ted have done, we’ll cleaning up his offices voicemail so constituents can actually contact their senator would be a good start.

Yes! I have yet to get in touch with a live human being when I call any of his numbers. I have actually spoken to an aide in Cornyn's office twice.

There’s something fitting about this and Biden’s quick and apolitical response in contrast with the Republican response. So many Texans despise AOC and Biden yet they still do it because doing the right thing matters. The Republican response has been to lie and politicize this or in Ted’s case, just bail. And none of it will matter on the long run.
It’s our current environment in condensed form. It’s normal, decent humanity vs. craven degeneracy.

Biden is just sitting in the White House talking on the phone. If he was a real leader he would have come down here and tossed out mittens.

You know, we’ve heard for years that despite being a loathsome repulsive mope on a personal level that Flyin’ Ted was super smart and had great political instincts.

This whole debacle obviously proves that ole chestnut wrong but not in the most obvious way.

Yeah, flying off to an expensive tropical resort while your constituents are suffering and dying during a natural disaster is just about the opposite of good political instincts.

But what’s really glaring is he missed the layup to do what was easy and right - putting on a show of caring and looking like he’s doing something.

Politicians going back centuries have known the lasting value of “looking out for the common man” and being seen as someone who will help people in need. Even if the motivation is selfish and the actual actions don’t even amount to much, just the play acting is basic Politics 101.

The flying off to Mexico pales in comparison to Flyin’ Ted’s absolute whiff on playing lip service to basic decency and humanity.

America, and Texas in particular, are so broken that Republicans know they don't even have to fake hiding this hatred and disdain for the non wealthy anymore. All they have to do is tell blatant lies and the sheep will stay in the pen.

I feel like this my be one of the unintended consequences of Trumpism. When Trumpkins claimed Trump "tells it like it is" as their basis for support, they weren't saying this  compulsive liar was unusually honest. They loved that he unapologetically acted on the shit angels of his nature, like they wanted to, and was able to get away with it (due to their enabling). He didn't pretend to give a fuck.

It feels like some think that's a transferable trait, like Eric Idle in The Holy Grail ("That's easy!") only to realize later that, no, YOU'LL get arrested for breaking the law and storming the Capitol and YOU still have to pretend you give a shit during a deadly natural disaster.

it's very well known that he's the most hated person in the Senate. i'd guess, he has zero friends in that chamber

Cruz is stupid like a fox. Long time before he's even up for reelection and he obviously doesn't mind being the bad guy so he goes John Dumbar on everybody so now instead of defending Abbott's lies or seriously talking about deregulation your conservative friends can just jump in with "well what was Cruz supposed to do" and then turn the conversation to AOC or something else they'd rather talk about.

He learned this from Donald and does it better than anyone except the orange fuck himself

The two biggest influences on Trump other than an impossible please father were Norman Vincent Peale, the positive thinking guru (everything is great, it’s all going to work out if you will it to) and Roy Cohn who taught him to attack and never apologize. I can’t imagine a more toxic combination for a budding young sociopath to follow. And 80’s NYC was the perfect incubator. The common clay didn’t stand a chance

Don't bother, it would hurt too many feelings on the site overall.  The national media is giving him plenty of shit.  However, it will die down in a week or so and that's when y'all need to take up the mantle and make sure people don't forget.  Everytime a community in Texas gets its power back, or water back, or supply chain restored, or pipes repaired, or buries the last victim of the statewide negligence...you can push it out and say, "With no thanks to Senator Cruz, today...(insert community) got back or buried or what have you."

Also, it may already be out there on twitter but I'm not on it.  But when you fire somebody, we used to call it "Shitcanning" someone or "Bob got canned from his job today."

So I'd like to posit #CanCruz.  Which, of course, sounds like the place he wishes he were in right now.

Heidi Cruz doesn't strike me as any more human than her husband.   Those poor kids don't have much gene pool to draw from.

Does Ted Cruz have a mentor or someone that he looks up for advice? As example, I assume that if Cornyn does something questionable, he could expect a phone call from McConnell giving advice. Or perhaps there is someone else in that role for Cornyn. Really, we all need that friend or person that tells us when we screwed up.

I have a hard time believing anyone really cares enough to tell Ted when he screws up. Maybe his family? but obviously not Heidi since she planned this weekend getaway. It's doubtful she thought it was wrong.

One of these two, and if pressed to choose, I'd go with Gingrich

The amount of egregious and often criminal behavior that has been normalized is staggering, when you numerate it. Daniel Dale did a service through fact checking every lie, but if one began to add up the various offenses to the American populace by the former Administration and the GOP, I suspect it would make for an interesting bar graph by comparison to other times.

Ted Cruz' behavior was indecent and callous. That should count against him, but it won't. It's been normalized to expect that the laws, ethics, and courteous behavior do not apply to his class.

Only if you consider his class limited to wealthy, republican white elderly males.   Everybody else is expected to toe the line on the laws they write (and do it with grace), like voter suppression, red lining.   It's been that way a long time.

Ultimately, it’s between me and my maker and I only have to answer and be true to the man in the mirror, but I thought it would be worth a share to where my head was at with this and give this nobody’s perspective, instead of just chiming in only when it’s favorable to my views.
And yea, I knew I’d catch all kinds of flak for commenting, I get it, I deserve it in this case because I supported and voted for this, but this response is inexcusable to me.
Be well everyone!

You’re a sociopath and/or gullible dumbass for ever voting for him. Nothing about Ted changed this week. Nothing. He’s exactly who he was - who he OBVIOUSLY, PROUDLY was - when you voted for him.

And you’re a lying sack of shit because knowing all that, you voted for him. Knowing all that....you’ll do it again.

I think you’re a sociopath, with no human empathy. But I might be wrong. You may just be the dumbest, most gullible SOB since....every other Republican voter. See below:

Glad to see Ted getting his comeuppance.

On another note, two more old high school friends are no longer part of my life (and yes, they live in Texas) after saying Biden wasn't doing anything to help, and if he cared he'd be in Texas (which in reality would hamper clean up efforts), said Beto did what he did just to score political points, and then said there wasn't anything wrong with what Ted did since he had his phone/laptop.

Fucking unbelievable how fucking dumb people are. These are people I spent my formative years with. Fuck them.

Your call.

The memes might piss off some - especially those who  who can't wean themselves from the sweaty ball juice of Ted Cruz and Donald Trump. Cruz is playing his voters as fools. He may be telling the truth.

This type of politician is common in the South and Texas. Texas is falling behind with that type of politician. America is moving away from slimy fucks like Ted - everywhere but Texas.

He has lost touch with economic and corporate reality. And he represents Texas poorly on the American and World stages. His job is up in the air. At this moment, he would lose to a fainting goat.

There is an intense urge to fix unrepairable parts. Ted Cruz is unfixable as a Senator for the State of Texas. That weakens Texas.
Commonwealth of Idoicracy right now in Texas.

He would be re-elected. Easily. Right now.

You know it’s true. Doesn’t matter who his opponent is, real Texans can’t vote for a baby-blood drinking communist libtard!

I hope you are wrong - truly.  And I know you don't wish for it. And that is why you fight like hell to keep it out front.

Spoiler

And if someone starts saying socialist and communist bullshit in defense of Ted Cruz:

  • that is a sure sign one is dealing with someone who doesn't care about learning (or is a con artist):
    • They won't listen.
    • They may not be capable of listening or learning.
    • Most likely, just tuned out.
  • We are a mixed economy (government spending and market-oriented).
  • We will remain a mixed economy.
  • Most of the world uses the mixed economy model
  • it can be measured by government spending as a percentage of GDP.
  • Public investment is not socialism.
  • Calling something "socialist" or "communist" makes most people look poorly informed - someone with a huge gap and vehemently opposed to something they do not understand.
  • The appropriate response to a that's commie or that's socialism objection is:
    • what is socialism or what is communism.
    • They will mudder something, and then one responds:
    • "Oh well, it doesn't matter since we will always be a mixed economy - like most of the world."

A mixed economy is what a functioning economy looks like in this world and entirely consistent with the Constitution.

Ridicule of the people who lied to them over and over, like Ted Cruz, may help them understand they were robbed by those they trusted.

They are lost.  There are significant deficits in knowledge.
