That third shot tells a story about function over style. They tried to make those controls forward facing in the new units just because it looked good. Thank god they went back on that.

Are you an engineer/conductor?  I find it amusing that the BC Rail heritage unit was just sitting in Eagle Lake.  Paint scheme on that one is great.  So is that Virginian.

Pretty crazy timing on this. I've never seen an owl in the wild, though I've wanted to. Driving down a diet road back to the lodging after a day out photographing, said to my wife "I need to get better at looking for owls." Before I finished the sentence, saw this one dive on a rodent off to my left.

I have great horned owls on my place, frequently hear them hooting around the house. But when I see them it's usually only flying away when they see me first. Extremely elusive and hard to get a photo.

I sneaked up on this one a few weeks ago at dusk when I saw it a long way off from my bathroom windows (one of my best places for spotting birds when I take a piss). Had to tiptoe about 80 yards to get this shot before it was alerted to my presence.

Attended a release of 5 condors into the wild by the Peregrine Fund.

So dramatic.

Every time I hear about condors I can't help but think about the Beverly Hillbillies California Condor episode.
