It would be amazing if the stewards give max another championship

AD21 was jacked that's for sure.

But this? Come the fuck on.

He went all four off the track.

After doing their best to make it dramatic, McLaren did everything right today. They covered off every strategic option that could have threatened them, really perfect work by the team strategists today.

Huge choke of a season for Oscar.

This, more than anything else.  He recovered the last couple of races, but this stretch here cost him the title:

A stretch that included 4 crashes (2 in Sprints, 1 in qual) where he was 100% to blame. Unless you're 2023 Max, you're not going to recover from that. And the race after Brazil was Vegas. Brutal way to come up short.

He's lucky Lando passed Antonelli last week, or he would have had to suffer the indignity of surrendering 2nd place to Lando today.

I haven’t looked at the complete data but, I am wondering if Yuki hadn’t sucked so badly could he have taken any points from Lando or Oscar?

I was really looking for Charles to get a little closer to Lando there at the end. That would have been very dramatic.

I have nothing against Lando, or Oscar but, today I was kind of rooting for some chaos, especially after last night’s college football chaos. Stupid Max was his own enemy earlier this season, and it cost him. I’d like to see the second RedBull become competitive.

I do think Hamilton is cooked although, he had a great race today with the Haas cars. 😉

I’m interested in what people have to say about Lando’s overtake on Yuki.

Can’t wait for the new regulations and cars for 2026.

The F1 TV post race show on YouTube is free, and pretty good. I always turn that on after the espn abrupt cutoff.

As an aside I, primarily, will be rooting for Cadillac and Audi. One of our friends is a banker in Zurich and late in the summer he started talking with the Audi team about a position with them and as it turns out he starts work Jan. 1. I told him I will only root for them if he gets me a hat. 🤣

Spain, Austria & Hungary Max got a combined 3 points.

In those same races Lando and Oscar finished 1 & 2. Lando took 68, and Oscar took 61, points in those three races.

Lando in Canada and Zandvoort, DNF and Las Vegas DQ

Oscar in Australia 2 points, Azerbaijani a DNF and LAs Vegas DQ.

Yuki got 33 points the entire season.

Lewis's avg was 9.04. The reason people are saying he's done is because he's had a terrible year compared to his teammate this year, as part of a bigger trend vs his teammates, because he's had 9 Q1 or Q2 exits, and because he's been completely uncompetitive in Q the last 4 races while his teammate has averaged P7.

The nuance is that Leclerc is an exceptional 1-lap racer, which exaggerated the Q results.

Trend wise their gap narrowed in the 2nd half of the season, before this recent bad run of form. Shit happens.

Maybe he needs Nicole Scherzinger back.

Lewis has never finished outside of the top six. Great drive by him to get into the points.

Charles rally drove to a respectable 4th. Russel just disappeared.

Looking forward to the regulation changes. Hopefully getting paddock Tickets for Austin next season. I want Bottas and Caddy to kick some ass.

Absolutely crazy that Max throwing a hissy fit in Spain and running into George cost him a title this year. I kind of hope he finishes one short of the record for his career now.

Was thinking about that at the end of the race.

Yea for Mercedes finishing second in constructors. Feels like when I was a kid and there were two divisions per league in baseball and only the first place team made the playoffs so finishing second was something to get excited about.

How does everyone feel about no penalty for Lando on the Yuki pass? I kind of agree that there should not have been any kind of penalty.

Yuki was swerving down the back stretch and going slow - Lando made a move and Yuki kept moving over. If Lando hadn’t gone for a pass (which he had room to do when he started the pass) - Yuki could have just serpentined the whole lap. Trash and illegal racing by Yuki.

Had Yuki made ONE move, Lando would have easily passed and zero questions.

Pretty much what I was thinking.

Christ - people are fucking trash. Kimi has had to disable his comments on social media. Max fans threatening him and blaming him for letting Lando by last week when he (Kimi) made a mistake.

They obviously want to ignore Max throwing a temper tantrum and ramming into George earlier in the year.

Dumb. For taking sports that seriously, obviously, but also for being too dumb to realize that there's no world where Oscar wouldn't have let Lando pass on the final lap had he needed the points once it was obvious that he wasn't going to pass Max.

Did anyone else just for moment think Yuki was trying to decide if he wanted to close out his Red Bull career in a blaze of glory and actually take out Lando?

Eh, Charles is very quick and is a great qualifier as long as he keeps it on the track. But ... Lewis has long been considered one of the best qualifiers of all time. No exaggeration of results there. It is what it is.

I think even with a penalty, it probably wouldn't have affected the end result. As @ChickenSandwich noted above, Lando probably should've backed off & tried again. Far less risk that way. What I hate is the continued inconsistency in this kind of steward call. More often than not, overtaking off the track gets the overtaking driver a penalty, even when forced off more forcefully than Yuki on Lando today. Yuki, of course, deserved the penalty for weaving, etc. He did leave room for Lando to keep his right side wheels on the track though, and normally we see the overtaking driver either give back the spot or get a penalty based simply on overtaking off the track, which we're always told is just not ever allowed, even when you're forced off. Except when it is. But whatever. F1 officiating is incredibly inconsistent. Water is wet. And it likely didn't matter. Good season. On to testing.

The announcers kind of talked themselves in to accepting the idea of a dual penalty which was the by the book result, but I'm glad they didn't because it would have created a controversy and like you said it wouldn't have changed anything.  Zach Brown would have wined about it for the rest of time.

Huh, didn't Ohio State beat ND last year and then Michigan beat Washington the year before that?
