I'd like to take this opportunity to thank the Diamondback bullpen for being consistently unclutch.

Yep, as much as we did to win, the Snakes definitely helped themselves lose. NOBLETIGER in the 9th last night taking the cake. They had numerous AB's with bases juiced this series and only scored 1 run total in those situations.

None of our opponents (or a lot of fans) don’t know the guys we keep trotting out there, so there is no “book” on how to pitch to some of them yet like they do with the vets.

Sorry for the double negative “None and don’t”. Couldn’t edit.

If any of the teams ahead of us were gonna win, I’m glad it was the team playing Seattle.

Concur. Top of MLB ain't important. Top of AL is. But as a selfish longhorns fan I of course want it all

Nah, he's one of the few competent hitters in the lineup.  Why would you take the bat out of his hands in the hope that Walker or Diaz do something?

Because Caratini sucks and gets himself out on bad pitches all the time.

it is kinda odd that Marte and the Dbacks didn't really argue that last strike call. Maybe it was closer than it appeared on the telecast?

I think the pitchtrack was wrong. It looked like a strike but pitchtrack had it way outside.

It's like all our opponents are the Longhorn defense and we keep throwing backup QBs out there.

Was following at work but couldn't post. Very nice sweep, and back to a 6 game lead, which is what we had going into Seattle. Keep it going. Anything less than a 3-1 series win against the A's will be a fail.

At first I thought it was an obvious ball but I think there is something to your theory. That pitch looked waaaay outside on the box overlay but the tepid disagreement from Marte and the Dbacks dugout suggests it was closer than Hader is getting credit for. If it was that far outside and one of our hitters was the victim of said call, I'd expect a vigorous argument. But maybe Marte just realized it was an exercise in futility and was ready for the postgame buffet.

Curious what the disparity is between the amount of payroll the Astros have on the IL right now and the Astros active roster.

Heck for that matter, if the other 8 guys in the line up make half of what Altuve is getting paid (not complaining, just using as a point of reference).

i asked google ai

Based on the available data from Spotrac, the Houston Astros currently have
$48,708,222 of their 2025 payroll allocated to players on the injured list.
Here's a breakdown of the highest-paid players on the injured list and their respective payroll amounts:
  • Yordan Alvarez (DH): $15,833,333
  • Cristian Javier (SP): $10,400,000
  • Isaac Paredes (3B): $6,625,000
  • Jeremy Pena (SS): $4,100,000
  • Jake Meyers (CF): $2,300,000
  • Brendan Rodgers (2B): $2,000,000
  • Luis Garcia (SP): $1,875,000
These players are still counted against the team's payroll despite being on the injured list.
The total adjusted payroll for players on the injured list is $48,708,222.
The total active roster payroll is $136,302,400.
Therefore, the players on the injured list represent approximately 35.7% of the active roster payroll.

Appreciate the work and the info.

Altuve, Hader, and Walker are roughly $70-75M.  Who else is on that roster making much money because that is another $60M.

Yeah I initially reacted to the dot, too & thought we got the benefit of a really bad call. Then I went back & watched a couple more times & it also looked to me like the tracker was off to the outside while the ball looked like it caught the corner. First time I've ever noticed that happening.

Yeah nobody on the field seemed to be upset. Just the announcer, who was also probably just reacting to the tracker. At worst imho, it was a very close pitch. Too close to take wtih 2 strikes.

I can only assume Rosenthal is referring to my post.

Diamondbacks plan to be sellers at deadline, but extent is still not known: Sources

By Ken Rosenthal

The Arizona Diamondbacks are telling rival clubs they plan to trade at least some of their veterans. However, the extent to which the Diamondbacks will sell is not yet clear, according to league sources briefed on their plans.

The number of deals Arizona completes before next Thursday’s trade deadline will hinge on a variety of factors, including the level of interest in their players, whether the proposals they receive for their qualifying-offer candidates exceed the potential draft-pick compensation and the assessment of club officials about the team’s ability to compete for the third wild-card spot.

After getting swept at home by the injury-depleted Houston Astros, the Diamondbacks (50-53) sit 5 1/2 games behind the San Diego Padres (55-47), the team currently in the third position.
