All things going to Columbus for season opener

Mods, feel free to ban/delete user/thread, etc….

Starting a discussion for topics related to our season opener against couch-burning, jort-wearing d-bags. I went in 2005, and like a lot of you went to the HornFans/Miani”s tailgate and dealt with the whole white-trash townie/High Street shitbag experience. Despite all of that, going back again cuz fuckin’ Horns.

I assume our esteemed leader will have an epic event planned as always, but opening this up as a general conversation around tickets/hotels/flights, etc….

I myself am flying up Friday night and leaving late Saturday, staying at the downtown Hyatt. Gonna wait until 2-3 days before our flight to buy game tix…

Arrive Friday. Renaissance Downtown. Hopefully with early kickoff we can celebrate safely after the win. Unlike 2005 dodging empty liquor bottles, burning cars and couches. Complete shit show. "we don't lose at night"-osu fans. That night you did fucksticks.

It’s been a long downward spiral

Wow, that's even worse than playing the Armada Room at the Holiday Inn...

What is their night game record now...surely they've lost another game or two since then

Will be following this.  We play @ OSU and the boy and I may make the trip.  Could be a bloodbath, but still worth it.  Just don't know what we would do for 3 days in Columbus.

My sister-in-law works for Ohio St. and when we send our kids up to visit her she takes them to Cincinnati.  It's supposed to be a nice city.  Maybe spend a couple of days there.

“The Buckeyes are 16-5 (. 762) overall and 9-1 (. 900) in the Big Ten in night games through September 18, 2017. Ohio State's most recent night game was a 42–17 win versus Tennessee on December 21, 2024 as part of the 2024–25 College Football Playoff.“

I was there myself with a group of frat bothers from the early 80’s. We intentionally left the wives at the hotel knowing things might sloppy after the game, After the game, bottles were thrown at us as well wore our burnt orange, I’ve been to a number of road games from Penn State to Nebraska to Norte Dame, etc. Worse experience that I ever had outstanding of the victory in Columbus. Have been to Columbus since a number of times for the Memorial golf and the bar scene next to the stadium has change significantly. I doubt that things will be significantly better with a victory this time.

I think the key piece of intel that we have now that we didn’t have then was don’t trek back up the white trash townie bar ghetto of High Street after the game…
