I don't disagree, but that Heather Dinich person who seems to generally have the pulse of the committee said if UT was 10-2 with a win against lesser OOC opponent it was not a given to be in the playoff. That's apparently how bad the UF loss and 35-10 UGA loss are viewed.

She is an idiot with an agenda. We definitely would be in with wins over OU, aggy, and Vandy lol.

When I look at last week's CFP rankings, I see us at #16 and a 3-2 record against teams in the top 14.  This doesn't include whatever jump we "should" make for beating #3.

It's very hard to wrap my head around the idea that we aren't worthy of a playoff bid.  We played a very tough schedule with great results against the top teams in college football, so what?

I have to believe that getting left out represents a shift on the committee's behalf from "tough losses don't matter" to "only losses matter".

Man if I was a Tech fan I would shut the fuck up until I actually got the first outright big boy conference championship ever in the history of my program under my belt and maybe went a few rounds in the playoffs.  Tech has had a good season, don't let it go to your head.

Yeah, that ain't happening. Tech fans today are so similar to aggy fans at 6:30pm last Friday.

It's not laughable.  I know for a fact Tech has tried to schedule upper end SEC teams and they won't take the call.

So until I see A&M, UT, Alabama, Georgia, LSU, etc. on Tech's future OOC schedule, I'll continue to make my case.  UT and A&M will not even pick up the phone, which is fine.  But then don't turn around and tell us we don't play anybody when you are unwilling to play us.  You can't have it both ways.

Sure we can. Tech plays a shitty schedule in a shit conference. Texas doesn't have an obligation to remedy that.

Tech played Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Kent State, and Oregon State this year out of conference and here you are whining that it's only because Texas, Alabama, and Georgia wouldn't play you. Boo hoo.

There are about 250 teams somewhere in-between Georgia and Arkansas Pine-Bluff. If Tech is serious about addressing their shit schedule, instead of blaming big bad Texas, pick up the phone, start making calls, and schedule the best teams that you can OOC.

But that's not what your administration did. They chose to schedule 3 flea-ridden shit bags OOC to go with your shitty in-conference schedule and you think that entitles you to come on here spouting about both ways. Get a grip and do a little self-reflection.

And Texas chose their path. Y'all gloat about it constantly.  Remember 'We stole your corch' in hoops?   Remember 'Big XII is dead?'  I do. Y'all do too.

The SEC deliberately games the system and the collusive media falsely raises the floor of the conference so everyone can say they beat more 'top 25 ranked teams.'  It's self perpetuating.

Then the top teams aren't scheduled against each other.

Own it and STFU...but you can't. We're Texas...and we still fucked up.

And this is bullshit as well.

most of us on here have said Texas has made its argument. Most of us have said that we are glad Texas beat A&M.  I don't hear aggy saying any of that.

Personally, I just get a kick out of the discussion in general when a good percentage of the fans on here disagree with the alleged resume, with another faction insisting By Gawd, Texas deserves it!

Then when they say Tech sucks, welp, Tech did what it needed to to get by, while Texas TALKED about choosing a better path.

Yeah, that part is a great aspect of sport.  Little Daniel-son got off the mat.

Imagine a completely algorithmic ranking system that comes up with teams 1-12, and imagine that some other team played all 12 teams (obviously with no others) and went 7-5.  Would they arguably belong in that top 12?  If your ranking system can't reach that conclusion then I would argue it is flawed.

My brain is breaking a bit here because a team by definition can’t go 7-5 against the top 12 and also be inside said top 12. It can’t play itself. You have 13 teams here in this scenario and one of them has to be 13. (So this has in a contained way shown why you can’t design a perfectly satisfactory playoff cutoff at any given point).

This is some really stupid shit slorch. Are you trying to argue that a couple years ago SEC schedulers deliberately designed a schedule with the foreknowledge that 3 teams ranked in the 2025 top 15 preseason would completely fall out by the end of the year and four teams ranked 18 or below would finish with 2 or fewer losses and move up?

We can only see how the coaches voted in the final poll of the year, it appears.  However, there is some silliness in it.  Glad no one takes it seriously.  Oh, wait.
https://sportsdata.usatoday.com/football/ncaaf/coaches-poll

The high/low rankings of some teams stands out a bit.
Indiana: 2/21
OU: 6/NR
Miami: 2/18
Texas: 1/19
GT: 7/NR

Indiana at 21?
OU unranked?
Miami at 2?
Texas at 1?
GT at 7?

I'm not suggesting that at all. I am saying the SEC is very deliberate about their scheduling, with indirect protection of the 'better teams.' It's not absolute, of course, but  I'm saying this season's results are not just 'Awe shucks, our best teams just didn't play each other a lot. '
It's cumulative with the November bye games and the 4th OOC game.

The SEC is deliberately pedantic towards any 'standardization' of scheduling. That's their prerogative, I guess, but don't be all pissy when someone( Texas) gets hosed. It's the game the SEC has chosen to play, and certainly is not directly UT's fault. It's in fact the opposite of that.

I've long advocated 1) 9 conference games 2) 13 weeks to play 12 games and 3) maximum of 1 non P4 opponent.  That's for all P4 teams. Pipe dream stuff, I know.

Obviously I'm saying they belong in the top 12 and one of those other teams doesn't (probably the current #12).

The SEC “protects” its best teams such that EVERY SEC team plays a more difficult schedule than Tech did. Every last one. Every SEC team played a P4+ND OOC game, Tech did not.  The SEC schedule is a moot point because it’s going to 9 games, but this is complicated because unlike Tech lots of SEC teams have permanent or semi-annual respectable opponents like Clemson, GT, FSU/Miami, Louisville, etc.

Your non-stop huffing over BIG XII NINE GAMES HURR is stupid because the Big XII is a D-tier league stocked with teams that didn’t get invited to the bigs and G5 call-ups. It’s a glorified G5 league. Playing more Big XII games is a knock against you. You’d play a better slate by dropping a game and replacing it with another P4 opponent.

I can’t go here with you without knowing what the current #12 in your rankings played. I can imagine a world where the current 12 played 10 teams in the top 12, and the 14 and 15 team and emerged with a 9-3 record. I wouldn’t put them below your 7-5 team in any universe. Arguing that records would be flipped if the schedules were swapped is entirely hypothetical, those games weren’t played.

SoS is a factor but it isn’t everything. And any ranking of 130+ teams, no matter the formula, is going to be imprecise. Beating the 12 ranked team vice beating the 14th ranked team is not so impressive as to outweigh additional losses.

Cam rambles a lot on his show (to fill time, I believe), but he has solid takes and football knowledge.

Impressive since it appears this is a side hustle to his main career of being a pimp, I mean, manager of an escort agency.
