Since this draw is going on - I was just realizing that half of these teams are in the Champions League this year. So you guys should all learn where Qarabag, Galatasaray, Bodo/Glimt and Eintracht are and how to pronounce them.

Why is an Azeri team in UEFA? Most of the country is considered Asia. They would have a better chance beating up on clubs from Nepal, Laos and Sri Lanka than playing UEFA clubs.

But some of the country is in Europe, so they compete in UEFA.

The real answer is money. There is more money to be made in UEFA. The Prize POOL for the two tournaments:

AFC Elite: $42 Million
UEFA Champions League: $2.88 Billion

Just by making the league phase in the UCL a team will make more money ($21.75 Million) than the winner of the AFC Elite (Probably around $15 Million), not to mention win/draw bonuses for the league phase.
