You cannot trust women to do the right thing.  The obvious answer is to outlaw divorce, take the decision out of their hands.  Would really affect the divorce rate as well.

May any woman trapped in a violent marriage find the strength, opportunity, and will to kill their  abusive spouse in a legally justified manner.

I feel the violent urge to take a castiron pan to JD Vance's face.

I've commented on Andrew T.  before. Here's some screenshots from his personal account on G-A-B. He has his own servers now so G-A-B has pretty much scooped up the GOP. (the hyphens are intentional on my part)

The whois registry for the site shows they run on epik - the favored hosting platform of the far right and neonazis of the internet. And epik has been ran out of america and now hosts out of Canada.

Just gotta keep chasing down the businesses that are giving neonazis a place to exist, and make sure they and their other customers are aware.

FIFaccuracy.

Seriously. The leaders, the tip of the spear of your political “philosophy”….are this. That should drive any human being with an ounce of self respect to splash cold water on their face and ask “what the HELL was I thinking?”

Why are you trying to convince anybody at this point? Everyone knows where they are in this... The only uncertainty is the outcome.

I can't believe I have to point this out... but it's been obvious to anybody who can think through history...  I don't even like"History" but damn, this shit is clockwork. Look it up.

The other question is where are the rebels going. (So how does one punctuate that? Slacks and whatnot.)

With a question mark?

And...how can you not like history? It's epic, it's malleable, it's seemingly random events cobbled together that may or may not have meaning. It's myth-making and fairy tales and the mind reading of dead people at its finest.

History of usually told from one or two points of view.... There are billions (or millions).

My exasperation is that you said you didn't like history, yet were somehow surprised that it is repeating itself.

I'm not surprised at all...  That's just it. I'm surprised that others are shocked or disappointed in the direction we're headed, when all along, this is the direction we've pointed.

Think about it...  This great country has had to fight itself several times about laws and rights... Which was, allegedly, the reason the country came to be in the first place.

In reality, freedom is only about 60 years old and not yet fully accepted. This collection of people isn't different than many other collections of people.

the story isn't told as such. Do we even know "history"?

Appreciate your clarification and that is/was my point. History isn't necessarily Yourstory or any one elses. A lot of fiction surrounds events. Many events go unrecorded, unnoticed, and unemphasized. What is elevated versus what is not. Simultaneously fascinating and entertaining and infuriating.

This is correct, unfortunately. The lines have been drawn. Neither side is converting a material amount of people to either side. The only thing that will be different from history is how the coming battles are fought. It has converted from North versus South to Rural versus Urban. I can envision a period of America coming in the next decade that has rural travel being extremely dangerous. Militias setting up checkpoints, blockades of food sources, raids on energy infrastructure, etc. If a family leaving Austin heading to Caldwell to visit family is stopped and searched by a militia, who are they going to call? The local cops? Who do you think organized it? Federal troops would have to patrol the interstates as the only remaining somewhat safe method of ground travel.

Very nervous about the next decade.

Not too far off in resembling the Serbian-Croatian war. Obviously not same-same, but similar.

Is this the thread where we talk about turning down a dinner invite from relatives because in the past couple of years one of them has become a pseudo-King-James-language-ranting stolen-election Trumpkin?

Well I guess I'm making it that for at least one post. Sucks, because she was a good cook.

Gotdammit I am talking about somebody who had a vicious sense of humor, who stuck up for her gay friends back when the rest of us yokels were laughing at faggot jokes, who was just likable. Now she spouts testimonials about defeating demons and curses in stilted Renfaire phrases while showing an impressive level of breath control. I had to hold the phone away from my head a few times and just let her go.

Shit.

Came across this picture. If you dressed these people in red, white and blue or camouflage and added 50 lbs it could be a trump rally.

The exact same people who worshipped Hitler are exactly the same kind of people that worship trump.

It's a cult.  When Clinton beat Bush and then Dole, when Bush beat Gore and Kerry, and when Obama beat McCain and Romney, I don't recall anybody buying big-ass flags that said "FUCK CLINTON" or "FUCK BUSH" or "FUCK OBAMA" and putting them on their boats, homes, even trucks.

It's a serious loser mentality that when your guy loses, you buy a big-ass flag that says "FUCK THE OTHER GUY" to fly on your boat or whatever.

And somebody is fucking childish and a snowflake.  If you don't have the balls to say "fuck Joe Biden" then don't be a pussy and try to use some cringe-inducing phrase in place of it.  Either say "fuck Joe Biden" or just shut the fuck up, because everybody sees through your charade of being too cowardly to actually say "fuck Joe Biden".
