Kid at the tailgate lot wouldn't take my cash.  And didn't even know what a paper check was.

So I guess it's time to step into the 20's.  I want ONE platform that everyone takes.  Venmo?  Apple Pay?  What?

Your choice may depend on the financial platform you use... & it may not.

I am with Randolph Brooks Federal Credit Union (RBFCU) & @ one time, could use either Venmo -or- Zelle... then something went wonky w/ Zelle & now it's Venmo only.

I get a maximum $ 500.⁰⁰ to send / spend due to RBFCU.  I have RECEIVED $ +7,500⁰⁰ on Venmo however when bothered functional, I could send $ 350⁰⁰ on any day & until Sunday @ 0000 hrs rolled around, I only had $ 150⁰⁰ left to send.

Send $ 200⁰⁰ on Wednesday?   Only $ 300⁰⁰ available until Sunday for the reset.

For me, Zelle was much preferred because it is / was 100% free & instant.  Receiving meant if someone sent me anything, it was IN MY ACCOUNT.

Venmo takes a % for an instant transfer.  Can you wait 2~3 days?  Ø fee for that

Also, with Venmo you Have to physically go into their application or website & initiate the transaction.  ¿Busy / distracted?  Don't forget to activate thr transfer or the $$ sits there waiting for your actions.

Zelle?  ★bang★ in your account. Again, $ 500 OUTBOUND per week is a built in headache with RBFCU.

YMMV.

I used to use PayPal but I can’t log into the shit for anything now. Haven’t set my Apple pay up tho.

Do they let you do the "instant pay" thing at the coffee shop?  That's my big want.

I use google pay all the time as it's just tied to my credit card. No bank involved. For bank phone payments and receipt of payments I find Venmo really easy and intuitive to use.

Just know that Venmo for some bizarre reason allows anyone to see your transactions if you don't set them to private.

You could take the step of just getting a credit or debit card? Those are pretty widely accepted. You can even store them on your phone and use tap to pay….

Just get a venmo account. By far the most used app and it's easy to use. But as someone else said, make your transactions private when you start.

Aren’t you special that you’re demanding that everyone use one app to make your life easier. I rarely see a store not accept a credit card. And if needed just enabled one of the credit cards on Apple Pay or whatever android uses. As for what app to pay a friend, ask what most people in your friend group use. In my experience Venmo works for the majority.

the nice part of enabling a card in Apple Pay is that if you leave your wallet behind, you can pay with your phone in many situations.

I was joking.  (But I have done it before.)

That's the Google Pay? (I'm Android.)

The more accounts you have, the more chances you have of being hacked.  (I've never had a paper check hacked/forged.)  Friends get cash or checks.  #deal with it.

I'll check out Google Pay.

Yes. Link a credit card to google pay and use that.  Or use the actual card if you wish, they’ll all have the chip now that does the same thing with rfid that the phone does.

Can’t even remember the last time I’ve written a paper check. Don’t even have any and on the rare occasion I need one I just go to the bank and get a cashier check

But Venmo and Apple/android pay are what you want
