Yes in a 4 team playoff. We needed that game and the win got us in.

we don’t need it now.  10-2 Texas is in. Even with the Florida loss. That’s the point. It doesn’t matter who we fucking play. Just wins.

Yeah, the dudes talking about scheduling Bama are showing they are clueless. It was different format. Completely irrelevant.

Miami is irrelevant. We will pass them. OR they will win the ACC and get the auto bid. Michigan needs to lose, I agree. We also will jump Utah. Our biggest obstacles are Vandy (likely to lose and I think we go ahead of them anyways given the head to head and SOS differences), BYU (scam team in a scam conference, we should be in front of them unless they win the Big 12 against Tech), Bama, and OU. We need OU or Bama to lose and we will be in.

You’re probably right about Miami. We are moving ahead of Vandy regardless of their Tenn outcome. I’m more certain about that than Miami because of our head to head.

I don’t think people realize we are ranked where we are because we failed the eye test so miserably in the 4th quarter in Athens. We made up for it tonight. We have some games to worry about but I strongly suspect the committee will rectify some shit on Tuesday.

Why? Oregon played two ranked teams at home and went 1-1. Aggy played two ranked teams on the road and went 1-1.

Because aggy just lost and if Oregon beats a pretty good Washington team it'll be 6 straight wins for Oregon.

Wouldn’t we rather take the 50/50 chance over the 100% chance?

There is no debate of a 3-loss Bama or Texas team. It is not a 50/50 chance. There is a 100% chance Texas is ranked ahead of Bama with an Auburn loss.

100% agree. Their resume is worse than ours. And they lost at the wrong time and to worse teams.

Texas is a sexy hot mess. All we needed to do was give them something to talk about. No one wants BYU or Fucking Vandy.

Vandy has almost no shot of making it. BYU must beat a team that absolutely owned them to make it. They aren’t getting a bid otherwise. Those 2 schools are not our competition.

If Georgia beats Bama or Ole Miss in the SECCG, does Bama/Ole Miss get punished for a 3rd loss and fall behind us?

I do think that a loss in a CG should be slightly different than a regular season loss but the committee can’t ignore that loss.

Ole Miss would only have two and would still be in. If Georgia beats the brakes off of Bama, I think they’d still put Bama in given how the first matchup went. Our only shot is chaos this weekend.

Or miss would have 2 losses. And only one good win in OU.

and a 3rd loss should drop bama but they won’t.

My bad about thinking Ole Miss already had 2 losses. I keep thinking they would be higher with only 1 loss.

They played a weak schedule and only beat OU(a good win)

Guys, we made the playoff two years ago because we scheduled Alabama. Without that game we don’t make it in. I don’t think those games should be freebies where if you win it’s a tremendous advantage and if you lose it’s just an exhibition game and the result doesn’t matter. Just playing devils advocate.

I cannot disagree with this post enough.

As a college football fan, I want to see the top teams play each other in OOC as often as possible. That only happens if marquee teams are incentivized to play each other.

If a close loss to the defending national champs in OOC knocks you out, only a fool would keep scheduling that type of game.

Exactly. The argument isn’t the Florida loss is bad.

It’s do they want to incentivize us into not scheduling Tough games.

This post hits close to home because sometimes I say “just playing Devil’s advocate” to my wife, and then say something stupid.

100%. Which is why we are gonna find our way into this thing if either OU or Bama lose tomorrow.

They’ll be 4 or 5 after this week thanks to us. I don’t think they’ll stay behind both Tech and Oregon (head coach shenanigans notwithstanding)

All I know is that if I were any team not named Georgia that's either in the playoffs or in contention for the playoffs, I damn sure wouldn't want to play Texas at this point.

Not sure Georgia wants us on a neutral field with non-SEC refs.

The beauty and sad truth of our team is that we can literally beat anyone and lose to anyone. We have a very high ceiling and a pretty low floor. The variance is insane. Bit as the season has gone on, the floor has risen and we have gotten much more consistent.

We’re good at home and shit away. Neutral field… I guess we can win?

2 wins at home, 1 at neutral, lost two 1 score games in the 4th quarter against the best two teams in the country on the road. Wouldnt call that shit, I would call it understandable. If Texas doesnt get in, it's a fucking crime.

"We played 5 top ten teams out of 12 regular season games. You look at what some of the other teams' schedules were in front of us and quite frankly, it's comical."

Get their asses, Sark. We absolutely deserve to get in. If we'd played Kansas or Oklahoma State or Purdue instead of tOSU, we'd absolutely be in and leaving us out sends a STRONG signal that no one should ever schedule tough OOC games ever again

I’m a couple different types of fucked up right now, but why would we not root for Auburn to beat Bama?

Seems like we should root for every 2 loss team in front of us to lose. We need to get to 10 ranking due to g6 and ACC bids

Need all 5 of these to happen including a jumping Utah to get to 10.

They're gonna drop to 7 unless kiffin leaves with the outside chance of them going to 8 if Bama wins the sec championship

All that would Guarantee  it.

hut they only need Michigan to lose. The rest the committee could quite literally jump the rest

I only have three wishes:

1. Ohio State win by at least 14 points.

2. Pittsburgh over Miami

3. Ou lose

The one nobody seems to be talking about is the Ohio St. game.  The Big 10 is perceived to be very, very  strong at the top, so if Ohio St. messes up and  even plays a very close game and wins by less than 4 points, that hurts our chances, I think.   The big 10 would lobby super hard to put Michigan above Texas.

Not concerned about Vandy or Alabama at all.  Even though 'bama probably loses to Georgia and remains right there with us in the final numbers, we would not play them until the 2nd week of the playoffs.  Since we have head to head against Vandy they are not a factor.

OU is 1-2 against top 10 teams, played us, Ole Miss, and Alabama.

I like us in the #12 position, playing at Tech.  That would be fun.   Big 12 against SEC.

After we beat Tech, we most likely have to go up against 'bama.  Wow! Tuesday night is going to be fun.

I'd add Bama to that. Not jumping them and they're in the final spot.

Unless DeBoer leaves and they lose the sec championship.

We certainly gave the committee something to think about.  Have the feeling we will be last in or first out.

Yep. And when that happens the people who have triple digit IQ’s on this board will say the thread title was correct (I said probably after all) and we can blame OU beating Bama for being first out. I just didn’t think OU had any chance at getting to 10-2. The basic premise was always that the SEC was likely to get 5 teams in and a 9-3 Texas was going to be in the top 5 of the SEC. OU winning at Bama changed that.
my only hope is that they sort of suck like we all think they do and ball don’t lie and they lose to a more talented LSU. But pretty sure those else retsrdw have completely quit, so, yeah.

If the goal is to pick the top teams at this point in time then Texas is in.  Unfortunately, We did lose a third game, and we will be punished for taking on Ohio State.  Beat Florida and it's a non issue, unfortunately I think we are on the outside looking in at teams we would likely beat AT THIS POINT IN TIME.

As right now, tell me a team in the BCS that would prefer Texas as their first round draw? Not a single fucking one...  Even Georgia who blew us out late might opt out of that choice, against this team, at this point in time.

Root for fucking chaos and the low hanging fruit from the top ten to get upset. It’s all we can do. Crazy shit can happen this weekend thank goodness. BYU could lose to UCF. Pitt could beat Miami. Auburn’s defense could finally get the win they deserve over Bama. Any fucking thing can happen. At least we ended the season flashing the potential and the talent that seemed to be dormant for 3/4 of our season. We beat our biggest rivals. We still have a slim chance. Just root for chaos in one of the best weekends for it. Go Horns! 🤘🏼thanks to our playmakers yesterday for giving us fans something to hang our hats on for 2025. Glorious game. Will always be.

3-2 against #1 OSU, #3 Aggy, #4 UGA, #8 OU, #14 Vandy. If that’s not top 12 then h2h and rankings don’t matter.

And that “as if today” rankings.  Not that BS “when they played” shit either.

weve gone 3-2 against 5 teams in the top 14, 4 in the top 10 and 2 in the top 4.

Surely the committee wants us to play them again at the tackle box round one...

Aggie is not the strongest eyeball draw, and  I get rematches are not the most popular.  But dropping Aggie to 5 and slide us in at 12 would bring the best ratings of anyone they could play in the 1st round.

Two teams are undefeated right now. Everyone else "didn't take care of business" at some point.

No fucking shit?  If you win all your games you are in?  Huh. 1 team at most will have done that at the end of this year. So, all teams will have not “handled their business” and the people will have to chose the best 12. Make them do their job. We did enough that we should be in. Period. Full stop.

  • Hook 'Em 4

2023 Florida State shows that even handling your business isn't enough.

Disclaimer: I agree they should have been left out.  A great example of the committee looking beyond loss column bias.
