You're acting as if this is some new development. Did you fall on your head and erase all memory of 2004, 2008, for starters?

Or maybe your head was just always empty to begin with.

It’s not for me. It’s for everyone that seems to have forgotten it.

I know that Texas was still top10

Are you really that fucking moronic? The are outside the playoffs due to 3 fucking losses.  One of which IS Ohio St.  One we did not HAVE to play but did to increase our profile and the committee has says playing out of conference games wouldn't hurt the overall profile of playoff teams. And yet, having 3 losses IS.

Don't be fucking dense.  You know good god damned and well playing that game has hurt us this year.  Just as much as losing to Florida and GA did, games we can't change off the schedule.

The strength of teams you beat and lose to is literally in the metrics calculation used by the committee.  They are literally looking at who you lose to, AND who you play and beat, not just the loss.

No, they literally are NOT looking at them. if they were Texas would not be behind Miami and ND.  Even the loss to Florida is not that bad.

They are simply looking at wins and losses...all the evidence proves that.  Texas has 3 losses and is out. They are the highest ranked 3 loss team...but still behind teams they shouldn't be because of the 3 in the loss column. Don't be dense.

It is a real thing and to say otherwise is stupid.

In a month we left home as much as Ole Miss did all year.  Bama never had back-to-back weeks away from home.

It is an SEC issue that caused it, but we are judging teams on their season long performance and all that entails.  If it weren’t that big a deal, you’d see more of it.

I think Alabama might be out if they lose. I don't understand why so many people think it's a guarantee. They're likely going to be 10th in the CFP rankings and a loss could easily drop them a couple spots which would be big trouble for their playoff chances.

Everyone changing their schedule to ensure 10 wins would just leave more 10 win teams out.  There has to be an actual playoff solution and hard rules going forward that doesn’t require a committee.

The key here imho is the ability to give the Committee cover for a decision to put us in the playoff. Just give them a way to frame it so that they don't look like idiots or crooks. In the past they've shown that if given a solid, justifiable rationale, they'll include a team like ours, that was on the bubble or on the outside looking in.

I think, between Sark in the video above and Bianco in the tweets, they've done that in spades. They've presented multiple very solid arguiments and I think, now, that we'll probably get in. But who knows. None of us knows shit about fuck.

The Vegas odds dont reflect that. Vegas seems divided on ND or Bama being more vulnerable to sliding out of the top 10 at some point. If you go by the Vegas odds, we will come in behind Miami at 13.

My guess is that they realized they might get dropped in the rankings if they didnt keep some continuity of staff and so they brought back Weiss because Kiffin was a bridge too far with the bad blood.

So the Texas vs. OSU 16.6M was the highest regular season number.

The TV network execs are really going to hate losing that windfall of money starting next year.

I guess we will see tonight if the networks have talked with the CFP committee.

That's our only hope. My longshot call is they drop ND to 12 and put us at 10.

Yep.  It's a huge fucking difference in the CFP committee's perception of Ole Miss as a playoff team.  They might not go far without Kiffin at the helm, but their odds are a hell of a lot better with at least Weiss calling the plays.  Ole Miss is in.

Fan Duel playoff odds are strongly implying (i) Bama will be in regardless of outcome and (ii) Notre Dame is in as long as BYU loses (and out if ND wins).

The odds strongly imply Bama at 9, ND 10 and BYU 11 tonight.   And less strongly imply Miami at 12, Texas at 13 and Vandy at 14.

They have to give Bama that buffer to lose and only fall 1 spot and not drop out, so putting them at 9 makes sense, ND can jump to 9 if Bama loses to UGA. Bama would still be in at 10. Probably should put Texas at 12 in that situation to avoid the Miami head to head argument. Then we just need to pray that Simpson breaks his leg in an ugly loss and we are in. Easy peasy.

On the right track, but the problem is the scheduling not the postseason.  There should be a standard, even if it's not bullet proof.

Notre Dame played 5 Top 40 teams.

Texas Tech played 3 Top 40 teams.

We literally don't have enough data points to form a solid opinion regardless of the postseason format.

I think this will just end up driving playoff expansion and networks incentivizing it.   There is just way too much money to be made (i) marquee OOC games, (ii) auto-qualifier "play-in" games replacing championship weekend and (iii) expanded playoff inventory.

After this committee there is no chance they piss all 3 of those buckets of money away.  They will cut a deal that somehow doesn't significantly penalize the marquee OOC (likely more guaranteed spots for SEC/BIG).

Gotta be Notre Dame. Does the committee have the balls to do that? I don't think so, which is why we're out.

If Texas sneaks into the top 12 there's a chance.  If they STILL have us behind Miami no shot.  They simply can't make the Miami/ND thing make any sense with the H2H win and add us with 3 losses.

The smart thing to do is to move ND down 12, Miami 13, and put Texas at 11 behind BYU.  That way if BYU wins they get in and either they push Tech out(probably not) or a Bama loss drops them for Texas.  If BYU wins they're pushing Bama or ND or someone out anyways.

Leaving ND/Miami at 11/12 would shut them both up as they'd miss anyways.

that is the real issue. Even if you had SEC vs Big 10 weekends like basketball, you still would not have enough data pts for proper modeling. We cannot even get enough games within a conference to get fair comparisons between teams.

They don't really need to expand much more.  Nobody needs the 1-16 matchup.  What they need to do is take a page from GASP..... FIFAs book and use some type of rolling coefficient based on conference size and relative strength (based on all results, which could incentivize going and beating up on other bigger conferences) to allocate spots for a given year's playoffs.  Then they can do the same thing with the teams in question, use some coefficient that incentivizes all the shit the committee supposedly looks at to rank the teams within each qualifying conference.   The P4 takes up 11 spots allocated by coefficient, the final spot is an at-large spot to be determined by a play-in game between the two teams at the end of the season with the highest coefficient and not in a P4.  Notre Dame...you don't want to have a playin game every year (or maybe you do) then go join a P4 conference.

Sark is our HC. I care what he can do. I could care less about Venables can do or Elko or Freeman right now. They don’t coach for Texas. And they didn’t fuck around all off season with a Top 5 NIL roster worth about $30 million. They didn’t decide to conduct weird ass proven not to work practices in the off season. None of them missed their Junior day. Most of them used the portal. Sark forgot he had to plug holes in our OLine. Conducted lane ass practices that don’t work and didn’t evaluate our talent. Didn’t even change shit up for Arch until the 4th quarter of the Miss St game. That’s all on him. He cannot beat day. He cannot beat Smart. And he lost to fucking Florida after a bye week. He wants to whine about it and say we should just play cream puffs from here on out and not bother to play OsU next year. Sounds like what a loser would say who cannot beat Ohio State.
