Yes, but football ain't basketball.  Much easier for an upset in basketball. How many G5 upsets of major P4 schools have there been in the last 10, 20 years.  I remember Michigan/App. St. and Aggy/UL Ragin' Cajuns.  It's pretty damned rare.

Boise/OU, Utah/Bama, NIU/ND…I mean this happens all the time and it’s great when it does.

It is harder in the transfer/NIL era, and enforced G5 apartheid makes it worse. The transfer rule is another parity and excitement killing development.

My point is extremely simple: if you like football as a sport, you want to maintain a healthy pipeline and youth participation. A key to that is maximizing opportunities to participate in as many levels as possible. Shunting the G5 into some special lower division absolutely goes against that, and unless/until the NFL decides to subsidize the game, will absolutely reduce interest and participation.

The NCAA tournament is a great example. If the NCAA suddenly announced that mid-majors got their own tournament and wouldn’t get Cinderella shot at Kansas, does that help or hurt CBB? All for the sake of adding two more teams from the middle of the SEC and Big XII? Of course not. It makes it all worse.

I disagree.  I think having the G5 with its own set of playoffs and a chance to be national champion would actually increase interest in those schools' football programs.  It might even be a large revenue generator.  They are already second class citizens in the college football world.  I'm not trying to be insulting.  I'm just really tired of pretending that Wyoming, Troy and Bowling Green are in the same ballpark at Tennessee, Ohio State and USC.

One question how many here want Texas to make the play-offs because they think Texas has a great chance of winning it all or do you want they to make the play-offs just to piss off aggy and the rest of the country or do you want them to make the play offs because the players earned it.

Full disclosure I want them to make because players beat three top 15 teams and earned it since Sark screwed them with his game plan at Florida. Second aggy tears would be great for Christmas. Winning it all would only happen if somehow this team became disciplined and consistent which they have not done all year.

I have nothing against Nicole. But it is a lil tiring to hear all the bad things about sark and how he pissed it all away as if it was a certainty we were gonna win the national championship. I hate Texas losing as much as the next guy but fucking upsets happen and you need a lil luck to win it all. Sark is not perfect and has his issues but so do all the other coaches in The country. If he leaves or is fired let’s find the next best coach and hate on him.

1. the players earned it

2a. piss people off

2b. great change of winning it (these would be flipped if you said "decent" chance of winning it).

The Boist St/OU Fiesta Bowl upset was one of the most fun CFB games I've ever watched. Not just bc OU was on the losing end. Nobody gave the Broncos a chance in that game.

I remember Utah taking it to Bama in that Sugar Bowl, too.

So a lot of rapid movement on the books happened and we have now stabilized at

Texas +590

Miami +820

ND -400

Bama -950

So I think this indicates, unless there is more movement, that Texas will be sitting in the 12 spot tonight. with ND @10 and Bama @9.

Edit: Vandy started the day at +1500 (now +7000 lol), Texas was at +2500

No man, people are over the top when it comes to her. It's one thing to clown someone for posting the same take. It's another when it devolves into weird personal attacks. One comment calling someone stupid or dumb is one thing. It's gone way past that. There are better ways to come after someone. She may be beating a dead horse but she isn't stupid or dumb as what she is saying is valid. None of us would take all the name calling. We would be looking for whoever that poster is at the next tailgate.

There are very few G5 programs that can do this and those really are the only two programs we’ve seen do it with any regularity. North Texas, Tulane and JMU ain’t winning shit when the game really matters.

I wish football was like basketball in terms of the upsets but this late in the season in a true playoff the true clear underdog upset will be a rare occurrence

Yeah, it's easier for a G6 or mid-major to be more competitive in basketball with only 1 or 2 key players.

IMO the CFB Playoff should be expanded to 24 teams (just like FCS) if we want to include the G6's with four auto-qualifiers from each P4 league. That'd give us 8 at-large teams.

Or we should just have two 16-team playoffs with P4 and G6 in separate divisions.

Not to mention it’s a lot easier to have a 68-team tournament in basketball than football.

A bookie wants the money to be even on both sides of a bet. They don’t make money by picking winners. They make money via the fee (vig) for placing a bet. Ideally, half of their customers bet one way and half another way and they collect their fees.  They want long term income and not big payday.

When too much money comes in on one outcome, they will lower the odds for the popular bet and increase the odds for the less popular to attract more money there and balance the books.

Vegas wants more people betting on UT to miss the playoff, so it’s increasing the payout for betting that way.

What's weird to me is that Bama's numbers and our numbers are the inverse of one another.

Bama to make the CFP?

-950 for yes

+590 for no

I’m in the keep sark crowd buddy. “DUCKS” I was responding to all the ppl that want sark out because we aren’t beating everyone by 100 pts and keeping teams from scoring a single point. Even if we should fire him which would be stupid, this is not the year to look for a coach even tho I think we would be able to find a good one regardless

That's what I've been thinking this whole time...it gives them so much fucking cover too.  if Bama wins we're out(fair, they have 2 losses or so the committee will say).  If BYU wins and Bama loses we're both probably out in that case.

Our odds would be better then. Because they arent heavily favored to beat UGA. They are probably pricing in a Bama injury to Simpson or a one sided loss.

If we do make the top 12, I'm going to need someone to make a gif of the bottle throwing from the Georgia game but with our playoff ranking on the bottles.

Correct, we are still a pretty big longshot, but there is path. Need to get that number lower, but like we have been saying, you gotta get to 12 to even have a chance for Sunday. So it looks like we are accomplishing that at least.

ND 10, BYU 11, us at 12 would be fantastic because a BYU loss would force the committee to analyze us and ND directly against each other.

Not to be argumentative, but how many JMU players transferred to Indiana last year with Cignetti? How many played key roles in their turnaround? I agree that upsets don't happen as often in football, but you never know. Plus, some of us are happy just beating the spread.

That's what I've been saying since Saturday. Bama loses and we're at 12 or so and BYU is 11.  BYU Loses and they're out...Bama loses and it allows us to flip with them. They'll get the cover they need either way. Bama wins, they have another win and less losses, and if they lose, Texas sneaks in since Bama has the same losses and a lesser resume overall(and protects OOC Games)
