this is going to be one of those seasons like 2008 we talk about for 20 fucking years

imo at this point SEC power rankings (just my dumb ass opinion)

1. Georgia

2. Texas

3. OU

4. A&M

5. Ole Miss (they just lost their head coach)

So the SEC will lose a playoff team because it held a CCG?  That’ll go over well.

ccg's are dumb

so is a conference more than 8 teams

Not sure if already posted but I like Gruden’s idea on how to fix the playoffs.

He is on the right track but I don't see why big 12 would get 2 guaranteed bids. I think only B1G and SEC should have 2 guaranteed bids for the teams in the tournament championship games. ACC and Big 12 champs get auto bids, so that's a total of 6 auto bids. Then you re-seed the rest of the field (12 teams) and make them play the play-in games to choose the remaining  6 teams.

And bama looks as bad right now as we did to Georgia.  As a matter of fact it’s a 1 score game at the start of the 4th quarter vs Georgia when Texas was there, before tit snowballed.

you can claim 3 loss Texas doesn’t deserve to be in the playoffs. But you will NOT excuse Bama with. Worse resume.   Their best win is Georgia and it’s similar to Aggie rankings wise.

they lost to OU and we beat them.  Their Florida St loss is as bad or worse than Our Florida loss.

we both best vandy. We lost tot he best team in the nation and they’re might lose even worse than we did to Georgia.

This was the edited version? Do you need medical attention?

Also tit snowball for band name / name of my sex tape / both.

The was for the entire second half of the post so I didn’t make a new one.

SOS needs to be more of a tie breaker than overall losses

If a team in conference has 2 losses with a SOS of 11 is being shutout by team in conference B with 1 loss and a SOS of 67…what are we doing here then

The mere fact that if Texas replaced Ohio st with southeast Louisiana and had have 2 losses they’ve a 100% lock is insane

If they keep BYU out for getting destroyed then they have to keep Bama out as well. If you punish one, you have to punish the other. Both were destroyed today. Then they can push Notre Dame and Miami in

The truth:

Texas had a bad loss early to UF.
Bama had a bad loss early to FSU.

Texas recently dominated a top 4 team.
Bama recently got dominated by a top 4 team.

UF dominated FSU at the end of the season.

Texas played Georgia tougher than Bama despite the score.

Herbstreit asking if BYU should get punished for getting their doors blown off today. Why do we even play these games? Let's just do computer simulations, and then select the 12 teams with the best records based off those simulations.

I'm going to be a little confused when Bama makes it and we don't, because it means getting blown out by Georgia one day before the selections are made is worth more to the committee than us losing by a TD to Ohio St on the road in August.

How is BYU being kept out, they had to win today to have any shot.

Agreed but that requires the committee to watch and not just look at the boxscore.

No?  Not on August 31st.  Not even on October 31st.  You were only right when the committee fucked Texas on Tuesday.

Perhaps, but ESPN didn’t pay $7.8 billion to not make as much money as possible on college football.

I agree. They believe Texas is bluffing on weak OOC in the future. So they’re not pressuring.

Eh, I don’t really think that’s true. We deserve to be in the playoffs, but I think this team is fundamentally flawed in ways that would prevent us from winning it all.

I think 23 and 24 and are much more 08-like than this season. We very well could have won it all both years, just like in 08.

So, as our last remaining shot (as slight as it is), it seems like we need to root for blowouts in the major championships.

  1. Ohio State blows out Indiana to make our close loss look even better. Indiana drops somewhere in the 5-8 range.
  2. Tech crushes BYU again. BYU drops behind us and Miami. That puts Miami and Notre Dame next to each other in the rankings, and then the committee flips them based upon the head-to-head.
  3. Georgia destroys Alabama in a game that is never really competitive. Alabama drops behind Miami and Notre Dame.
  4. That puts us, Alabama, and Notre Dame all together.  Play against common opponents is a stated criterion of the committee. Alabama lost to OU (and Georgia in this scenario). Notre Dame lost to A&M. We beat both of those teams by double digits. The committee could use that to justify us jumping both of them. That would put Miami at 9, Texas at 10, Notre Dame/Alabama at 11 and 12.

What happens in the ACC doesn't really matter. Maybe I guess Duke winning it could adversely affect Miami.

Reality is we are out. But if you want to see a path, that appears to be it to me.

I guess we may be testing this scenario.

I maintain there shouldn't have been any playoff rankings until tomorrow. There would be no discussion of anyone getting punished for losing in the championship games. They would just be more data points and opportunities for teams to prove they belong. At the very most, if you have to have weekly shows, just do groupings of 10.

I think they might do away with the show next year. It is dumb and making them look like they are making it up as the go (which they are).

Pretty much all the game rooting we were doing over the last month of the season went against us, but enough has happened to get us as close as possible but still get left out.

Apples to oranges, but shades of 08.

Klatt made that same point, but its good tv for them, they like all the hype, and the bickering, it keeps people interested for a longer period of time.

Texas should be over bama at the very least. Florida beat Florida state. Texas > Oklahoma > Bama. Texas has 2 wins over playoff teams. Bama has 1.

Committee in stupid as fuck

And Texas played Oklahoma and beat the Sooners and Alabama lost to the Sooners.

And Kalen Deboer's secretary is named Lincoln and Sark's is named Kennedy.

So, Alabama gets left out for losing to a team they beat on the road, that nobody else can do because they lose to them in the SEC title game.

Not seeing that, especially after Bama got left out last year at 9-3.

3 losses; including FSU. Sound familiar?

This isn’t anything remotely close to 2008. We were the best team in college football that year….

Unfortunately it won’t be about Texas vs Bama. They’re going to get ND/Miami in to avoid that controversy and stick to their “welp 3 losses” dipshittery.

Probably. I'm unclear if we want to root for Duke to make the ACC (and by extension Notre Dame) to look as weak as possible or root for Virginia so the committee isn't facing a no ACC scenario if they keep Miami out.

Posted

They’re not going to punish Bama that much. It’s a 13th game and they already beat GA earlier in the year.

If GA would have done this to Bama earlier this year, we would already be in.

Posted

They could also move Bama to the #10 seed again and put ND back to #9.

Maybe that is why Bama moved up to #9, for wiggle room.

Who really knows though, this has become figure skating and there are several Russian judges on that committee.

Well, you see, getting the fuck kicked out of you one day before the decisions are made just looks a lot better than losing in AUGUST by one score at Ohio St. Because Texas gets in over Bama comparing them outside of those two games.
