Probably. I'm unclear if we want to root for Duke to make the ACC (and by extension Notre Dame) to look as weak as possible or root for Virginia so the committee isn't facing a no ACC scenario if they keep Miami out.

Ooo didn’t think of the “no acc” angle.  Damn.

the ACC isn’t as corrupt as the SEC to have their refs fix the game for Virginia to make sure they get in but we’ll see.

I hate dumb comments like this.

Our fans say stupid shit because they only watch our games and are only critical of our team. If you watch other teams everyone has warts and can be beaten. Most message boards are the same also. Every team hates their oline which I find funny.

This isn’t anything remotely close to 2008. We were the best team in college football that year….

Yeah. We are just a good, but flawed team this year.

They’re not going to punish Bama that much. It’s a 13th game and they already beat GA earlier in the year.

If GA would have done this to Bama earlier this year, we would already be in.

It’s not about Texas. It’ll be about Miami/ND. This gives them a way to do it.

Why would they discuss a team that is clearly not making the field?

Fowler did mention it actually and Herbstreit agreed Texas got punished for the OSU loss. I get it, you don’t think Texas should be in it. We are just talking about the rationale for leaving Texas out. So apparently you think all the teams in the CFP rankings are better. We disagree with you, but thanks for your repeated swats. We clearly know where you stand.

Probably true. Too bad ND are fucking cowards and Miami couldn’t get into the CC of the worst conference in at least a decade.

Idk, I am pretty sure BYU is getting knocked out.

If the committee left them at 11 they'd still be out because of ACC and G5 champion taking their spot. Committee doesn't HAVE to drop them any. Even if they should.

Yes because last week showed the committee says we're out. What's there to talk about?

There’s always dead air on the broadcasts. There are hypothetical cases for Texas being in even though “the committee” has spoken. There some controversy about the ranking system , particularly given statements by the committee on OOC GAMES  previously, which seem to make morphed into something else. This topic would be a natural discussion point , but was completely ignored in TTU BYU game, but Fowler and Herbstreit did mention it briefly during Bama GA toward the end. It’s not going to change anything, but the discussion might frame change going forward. Is that a crime, is it pointless? Or should people just accept it and let the topic remain unchallenged?

Conference title games are going to get canceled so fast if Bama is left out (and they should, it doesn’t make sense in the current format).

Alabama shouldn't have been a shoe in before the conference game. That was the mistake of releasing rankings.

That would be telling if BamaJelly's BMDs/power-brokers can effect such changes, but Texas' BMDs can't.

We beat the #3, undefeated team by two scores and the CFP committee moved us up 2 spots (plus 1 spot when Michigan lost and dropped below us). Meanwhile, Bama escapes against a 1-SEC-win team at the end of the season, and gets rewarded by moving up a spot. The committee can go fuck themselves and I still think we should cancel the OSU/Michigan/ND games, because 3 losses are all that matter. I give zero fucks that OSU owes us a game in our building....just get an easy win against some perennial loser, with a lower chance of injuries. They're not punishing other teams for weak-ass schedules, bad losses, or close wins to bad opponents. They're not giving us a pass for two of our losses being to the #1 and #3 teams on the road or rewarding us for 3 top 15 wins, so just burn it all down and stack the wins.

Bama O has looked like dogshit the last half of the season what are you talking about?

No, I agree. What I mean is they weren't getting absolutely blown up. Yes, they lost by 3 TD's, but they have nothing to play for other than a plque. They already know they would be in the CFP, so. Why exactly would they just go balls to the wall, regardless of said plaque?

Because to get the 12 team playoff it had to be voted on and to get it passed, they had to include the G5 rule.

You have to either dissolve the NCAA or somehow get the G5 schools to have their own playoffs.

The G5 crap need to go. They aren't a real FBS team. They are nothing more than a space filler. It's stupid and needs to go away. Anyone who can function without drooling knows this

Which is why you don't release rankings. But I'm also not convinced they are in.

It would be nice if we were all on the same page as to which games matter and which don't.

Heather DinWhatever just predicted that BYU stays ahead of Texas. Has anyone looked at BYU's schedule? They beat one ranked team, #22 Utah by a field goal. They played two other games against a ranked team and lost them by a combined 50 points.

They're definitely in, but it needs to go. No G5 team will ever, and I mean forever, get close to winning it all. It's taking away a spot for a legit team that's on the same level (recruiting) as another team. If the G5 modlel didn't exist, we're in. No doubt about it.

So we should cancel those games so that we can be a legit 3-loss team that only has 2 losses? Fuck that.

We should be all the people we bitch about?

I don't think you can say that with that beat down. Committee is looking for a reason to have both Miami and Notre Dame in. Alabama may have just given it to them.

I can't remember who started it, but an NIT for G5 should be a thing. If they want to add a NC to their record for winning said tourney,go for it.

Maybe the NCAA could throw some financial incentives for the G5 to have their own playoffs.

A win win for both.

I think G5 should have their own subdivision and their own playoffs.

A few years ago I was a fan of including a G5 team. I think that if you are a part of a league, every team in that league, at the start of the season, should be able to say, if we take care of business, we can play for a national championship. We've seen Boise St as a top 5 team, App State beat Michigan and A&M, Troy beat LSU.

But the reality is, in today's landscape of NIL, transfer portal, and talent distribution across more P4 schools, the best any G5 school can hope for is to maybe pull off a round 1 upset. Maybe once a decade. But there's no way they have a chance to make it all the way to the final.

So give their season some actual purpose. Let there be a G5 playoff and a G5 national champion. If Division 1 can be split into FBS/FCS, there's no reason why FBS can't be split into P4 /G5.

Nah, Bama is in no matter what. Sure, they lost by 3 TD'S, but they "earned" the right to play for a CCG. Does that matter to us? Yes. Does it matter to is picking what team? No. Not at all.

Removing G5 schools from the CFP is the very first thing that needs to happen, even before expansion.

Utah over Bama and Boise State over OU were 17 and 16 years ago.  It's been a long time since G5 was competitive at the top level.

Agree 100%, they should absolutely have their own subdivision. They are not equipped to handle a p4/5 team regularly.

it's really just splitting another division off. there's already Division 1A and Division 1AA (currently known as FBS and FCS). every division below also has a tournament and they are the ___ champion. so it really shouldn't be a difficult concept but i bet someone floats antitrust suits against the power 2 + 1 + 1 for going premier league.

I'd cancel the  ooc games during the cfp show and tell the cfp if they can't fix the shit show we will start organizing an alternative, but first here are 30 mm eyeballs that Mickey Mouse does not get to push ads. We joined the SEC for the clout. Sankey needs to channel his inner Deloss.

Aggy in 2021 or something has to be added. Does that mean they're "competitive?" Sure, I guess. Does that mean they should be in the CFP? Fuck no.

Those were the last J6 bowls won by the G5.  There have been random upsets since, but nothing like those.

Honestly, I bet a G5 playoff would honestly make some viewership money. The FCS playoffs get plenty of coverage. Have G5 playoff games on weekdays during bowl season. People will watch. If you want to incorporate bowls, play the playoff game at the bowl site nearest the higher seed or something.

Concur. They're nothing more than upsets and honestly shouldn't count. Will they? Yep. Should they? No. Why? Because upsets happen. That doesn'tean said team is good or bad. That same team would lose 9/10 times.
