Except figure skating switched to objective grading just because of all of the bullshit... we can only hope.

I lost interest in figure skating after Katarina Witt, I know, I know, but................

You want VA to win 3-2 in a game that sets college football back 75 years so that the ACC isn’t left out but the commmittee says we really want to out 2.5 ACC teams in this fucker. Domers are .5 acc team with that schedule.

Unclear. Maybe more likely Miami is selected to get an ACC team in. But Duke winning the ACC really cuts both ways.

More like .75 ACC since they went 5-1 in conference play in an 8 game conference.

Since we’re not getting in, fuck ‘em all. I hope Duke wins by 28.

Can you really give an at-large bid to a team that failed to make its conference championship when neither team in the conference championship is ranked highly enough to make the playoff?

I say "nay."

The problem is it is very hard to be logically consistent and put both these teams over us.  Notre doesn't have a bad loss, but Miami has twice as many.  Our wins are clearly better than both teams.

What makes you think they will be logically consistent?

That’s what I’m saying.  Miami couldn’t even qualify for the CCG of a conference where the winner might not even auto qualify when they’re give auto bids to 5 conf champs. 😂

The burnt orange glasses have been fused directly to the eyeballs of most posters here. If we were in Alabama’s position, this board would be 100% in the camp of “2 regular season losses, you can’t be penalized for playing in a CCG against #3 team while teams like aggy, Ole Miss, OU, and Miami get to dodge it!”

Duke winning, followed by James Madison or Tulane getting annihilated in the first round is the best instrument for change. We really shouldn’t have lost to a terrible Florida or gone to OT vs. bad UK and MSU teams. We looked shitty in as many games as we looked good this year. It really neuters any argument of getting the last spot over ND or Miami.

Maybe auto bids will go away. The playoffs should go to 16 because first round byes are fucking stupid in a sport where rankings are subjective.

Yes we would.  And rightly so due to our schedule.  And our wins.

bamas resume does NOT match up to ours.  It’s not close.

There’s losing and then there’s what everyone just witnessed. You get a pass if you’re competitive but you can’t show your ass in the CCG and expect people to magically unsee what they just saw.

Wild ND gets more credit for top 15 losses than UT gets for wins.

Also can we stop comparing last years "don't punish conference champs" with this year.  The conference losers last year entered the games with only one loss and were higher ranked than Bama and BYU and those games were actually competitive.

This is where I land. The team played like stepped on dog shit for a third of the season. Not making the playoffs doesn't feel beyond the pale, AND would be good motivation for the team in the off-season.

They could have been in the big dance, but Sark got complacent and shit the bed for the Florida game and called a stinker, and the team let Arch down as he was finally starting to turn his corner on development pains.

Don't do that next year. Make the playoffs. Hook em.

I do not understand this whine. The G5 gets to compete in every other sport.

So does the FCS. In men's basketball, women's basketball, volleyball, baseball, softball etc etc etc, if you win your conference tournament, you get into the NCAA tournament. So let's give them a spot in football too!!

Now maybe make it so the G5 school has to be undefeated or something. Sure. But I am not interested in some lame bullshit where some G5 team goes unbeaten and doesn't get a shot.

Maybe you didn't read my last post, but I agree with you. I said, if you have an athletic league that awards a championship (i.e. the FBS) then every team in that league should be able to say at the beginning of the season, "If we take care of business, then we have a shot to win the championship"

The problem is that, thanks to NIL/transfer portal/P4 power distribution, we are quickly approaching a landscape, if we haven't already arrived at it, where the best G5 team from here on out might win one playoff game, but it'll be almost impossible to win 2. Let alone win 4 playoff games to win a championship. Boise St and Utah 20-25 years ago are probably the only two in modern history that might have had a chance even in the previous landscape. So now you're leaving out a team at 11/12 that actually could win 4 in a row. And why? To give a decent G5 team a token spot where they are going to be overmatched 99.9% of the time.

So why not let G5 have their own spotlight? If they have their own playoffs and their own championship, now it goes from 1 team having to go undefeated to 5-6 conference champions having a chance to win a championship in their own weight class.

Football is not like basketball or baseball or softball, where one great player or a very disciplined and technical team can go on a run and knock out higher seed teams. Let G5 football actually shine and be recognized separate from the P4.

The turd in the punch bowl here is of course Blow U. Zero wins vs. playoff teams and a loss to an unranked team

Silver lining. Venables remains their coach for at least 3 more seasons.

The BCS would have been fine this year. No one would have argued with an Ohio St/Indiana vs. Georgia national championship this season.

The CFP is fucking stupid. It’s always been stupid since its inception. And the trophy sucks ass compared to the crystal football.

Sure, Alabama fans should be making their case. It doesn't mean that Texas doesn't have a better argument here. Again, no rankings before the final game solves this "don't punish for losing the conference championship bullshit". 10-2 Bama shouldn't have been a shoe in and should have been motivated to make its best case that it deserved to get in.

True. Also, FCS wins should not count towards  a team’s win total.

I wouldn’t go quite that far, but the game result should depend on how you did against the spread instead of straight scoreboard.

My inner sicko wants to see a team lose their star player against Valdosta State late in the game because they’re trying to win by 54 and are only up 50.
