I would be surprised so many people here are too stupid to understand this very very simple point, but the last decade of bearing witness to America's insanity has shown this level of stupidity is standard here.

People who get all hard about a fucking September game that they gladly want to sacrifice playoff runs for them. Same people who love giving all their money to street shell and 3 card monte dealers.

Mel Brooks Morons GIF

It is quite amazing to see in real time.  Hell, an SOS of 50+ is getting you a bye.

Texas at the Ath Dept level has never really been violently serious about national championships in football.  we fuck around a lot and treat football as a nice to be good and have good kids that graduate.  Football helped fund other sports to have even more good kids who graduate.  no one gets too upset.

We'll see if that changes.  There is a reason coaches say Texas is a top 2 or 3 job in college football.

Sark's seat is as cool as can be.  He'll make 1 coaching change with akina because he needs to be pasture-ized.  some day maybe we will get really serious.

I mean can you imagine Ryan Day surviving TWO 50 POINT assblastings to Michigan?

the SEC and Big 10 as conferences should get together and collude to cancel all p4 non con games across the board. Tell the NCAA to change the system or get fucked and enjoy a September with zero games anyone cares to watch.

the sec and b1g will not do so

they are the entities that own the contracts with disney and fox, and those contracts are structured with the existence of those marquee helmet-helmet matchups

my feeling is this is why cdc called off the dogs midweek

sark's campaign was potent and therefore concerning to disney

I watched way less football than I normally would have this weekend - and I LOVE conference championship weekend and CFB generally. But the talking heads' deliberate refusal to talk about us and discuss even a ghost of a case for our inclusion was absolutely fucking rage inducing. Basically every time I turned a game on, I just wound up getting pissed off (although it was nice to see Bama get mushroom slapped and Duke win an ACC title

In any case... FUCKING MIAMI???? The CFP committee is not a serious entity

CDC is already on record saying the Big OOC games are good for the sport and we will continue to do it, if not even lean into it.

do you have a cdc quote from the past 2 weeks on this?   or are you referencing the article from february?

Teams aren't punished for playing 1 FCS team on their schedule.

Right. They’re rewarded for it. It was counted the same as a conference win or a P4 win. Why?

Bear in mind there are only 67 Power 4 teams.  You can play a literal G5 schedule and be in.

yes the article from February.  which I knew was from February.   I do not expect our AD to make such a powerful statement about the importance of those games to college football and then backtrack just because of one season where it didn't work out and the game cost us the playoffs.  I would hope he is more farsighted than that and didn't think that a committee full of AD's/coaches, etc that hate Texas was going to ignore a loss to anyone.  He has to know how the loss column works for near on 90 years. He can't be that stupid and I know he isn't.

Or maybe the entire reason he was hyping up how important those games are was to defend against us getting left out but it happened anyway so now it's been proven that playing them is detrimental.

they had to

if we were on the board this morning the lying deceitful committee would have had to address the "big games not held against you" bullshit and every metric not named 3 losses and eye test

Yep…this….easier not to address us based on 3 losses as opposed to explaining how they would let in Texas over some 2-loss teams….they just ignored us….but, went out of their way to show how Bama warranted a seat at the table.

FIFY.  We want a blow out win in November for the "eye" test and a cupcake before aggy.

sure some of it.  but he said it was good for college football to have these games.  he was damn adamant about it and talking about leaning into it.  I just can't believe he doesn't know how SOS and loss column work.  H2H is the only thing that might matter in breaking a tie.  these morons on the committee don't even know how to work a computer much less respect it.  They only care about losses because you know it is something that happened on the field.

the number 1 and 2 teams in the country all year had SOS's in the 30's or 40's most of the year.

I do realize that the tOSU and I believe Michigan games were scheduled before CDC.

for years I was telling people the answer was 64 teams, reconfigured for some balance.  8 team divisions 4 conferences. 16 team playoff.  It was so obvious that you knew it wouldn't happen.

these two should have an agreement similar to hoops, and do a SEC/B1G "challenge", but call them scrimmage games so they don't count against the playoff records.

I agree with the first part but they should count. That’s how we decide who belongs in the playoffs.

This bickering about which loss kept us out is silly.  Let's imagine a collection of road games against top 5 teams VS a collection of road games against teams barely in the top 40.  Which opponents are more likely in the long run to saddle us with losses (which are apparently the #1 criteria of the committee)?

Or, you know, win.

A standard that no other team had to meet. Indiana created a schedule of cupcakes. But just win baby!  The lesson here for Texas or Notre Dame or anyone else paying attention is playing 12 cupcakes will still get you in the playoffs as long as you win. Our wins against Vandy, A&M and OU mean as much as James Madison beating Georgia State by one score.

It’s only losses that are counted. Thats it. The schedule should be created to minimize losses. A loss hurts and a quality win does not mean anything.

You didn't like the "vibe".  You thought we were about to be "hosed".  You thought we might get in before you saw what you saw this morning and needed to post your feels about it.

Spin away, but you said what you said and, yes Skippy, you thought there was a reasonable chance the Horns would be picked until that vibe showed up.  Teams with no reasonable chances aren't getting hosed when they don't get chosen.  Doesn't fit in the same box.  Sorry...

There’s no spin in my posts, Scooter, and you don’t get to check the boxes in my life.  Sorry….

Why would CDC tell Sark to shut up? I think they knew they weren’t close by Tuesday and they didn’t see the point in continuing.

Meanwhile, that Cristobal fuck went on a podcast barn burning tour and it was obviously effective.

I think Notre Dame calls in every marker they have, and we go to 16 by next season.

Miami is a prefect example.  we have 2 wins better than any of Miami's wins and they lost to 2 unranked teams, one at home.  My guess is aggy is going to win that game.  Beck is a choker.

I don't think Miami was going in until Duke won the ACC and the committee didn't want the entire ACC to not be in the playoff over G5 schools. I doubt they had any intention of moving them up. This way the only person angry is a team that has no real right to complain.

And there it is, the non-response to your "...show me where?/you can't" challenge.  Care to explain how we were "hosed" if there was no reasonable chance in your mind to begin with?  You won't because you can't.  Funny how you avoided that one altogether.

Thanks for the confirmation Skip.  Unintentional comedy is always the best kind.

One can hope unreasonably and still feel hosed with the outcome.

Have you never watched the aggies play? Have you ever seen a more overrated group of chokers than them? They could fuck up a wet dream. The whole culture of that school is choking at fucking everything. Nothing is a given with them. I wouldnt be the slightest bit surprised to see Miami win by two touchdowns at Kyle Field.

dohmers' BMDs get shit done when they're nationally embarrassed.

Our BMDs are too busy to care because they're dining with The Nightfox on Lake Como.

Our BMDs only seem to care after they finally get sick of being publicly-teased/publicly-embarassed about Texas getting-the-shaft/not-being-relevant from other teams' BMDs.
