You realize Vanderbilt is a SEC team with two conference losses and literally nobody thinks they should be in the playoffs. Certainly their conference schedule is worse than ours but we should be aware that there are situations where a good OOC win would be a difference maker.

The name of the team matters. Helmet school vs non helmet school. Texas also has wins over OU, Aggy, and would own a loss to UGA. 2-1 vs CFP teams. We would be #7.

Top 12?  ok.  add Texas for shit and giggles (make it 13)

Ohio State 1-0

Indiana 1-0

Tech 1-0

Miami 1-0

Georgia 2-1

Texas 2-2

A&M 1-1

Alabama 1-1

Ole Miss 1-1

OU 1-2

Oregon 0-1

BYU 0-1

Notre Dame 0-2

Texas played more and ended up .500, 4 teams with a losing record against that bunch. some teams only 1 team in the top 12.

#6 (see above) if we are included Ohio State and Georgia get a plus 1 and OU and A&M get a -1. we land at 6 based solely on records against the top 13 (with texas included in the current top 12).

this CFP selection process has shown more problems with college football than the BCS ever did.

This is just bullshit. The BCS was a complete disaster for its entire lifetime.

I know a lot of people whine and cry about this because they're stupid, but a larger playoff solves all of these problems. The FCS has a 16 team playoff and it works great. Yes, of course there's going to be whining and grumbling about who gets left out, that's always going to be the case, but 16 teams basically guarantees situations like this don't happen. A team like Texas with 3 losses but an overall still solid resume would absolutely get in and the rest like USC or Tennessee can go fuck themselves. Don't lose 3 games to average teams.

OCC match ups, SEC won't get 6 (deserves 7), conf championship games are a wildcard (don't want to disincentivize them (yet), so Texas is in a bit of a pinch.  so even with the argument for OCC match ups, Texas loses on the following two motivations, so mayhem is required.  there is the "list of games" to watch, but what is most likely, therefore the real games to watch...

11:00 am

Ohio State to beat #15 Michigan

Pitt to beat #12 Miami

Noon

UCF to beat #11 BYU

2:30 pm

replace with Tech beats BYU in the Big 12 title game

LSU to beat #8 Oklahoma

Not happening

Tennessee to beat #14 Vanderbilt

6:30 pm

Auburn to beat #10 Alabama

9:30 pm

Stanford to beat #9 Notre Dame

not happening

Mandatory losers needed: Michigan, Vandy, Miami, Bama, and BYU (this week or next).  We are dead in the water without those five.   We will jump Utah. We are at 12 with realistic outcomes today (jump Utah), Vandy and Michigan lose.

So taking the odds of what should happen, it's Miami, BYU and Alabama that shouldn't lose but we need them to.

Not remotely close to true. We need two things: Ohio state win and bama or OU loss. Everything  else is nice to have but completely unnecessary.

The goal was pick the best two. There was no issue about inclusion of conferences, or this league got this many or what about the G5 or auto qualifiers for dick teams, or schedule parity, etc. the question of who are the best two had its problems but the way CFP is dredging up questions about what matters for the sport at the end of the season is much more complex and controversial.

if you are referring to 1 vs 2 leaving out 3 versus 1-12 and leaving out 13-15 then yes the playoffs are an improvement.

That assumes SEC is an auto five bid league and keep reading I acknowledge that as a possibility.

Cool. Ignore me. I’ve had this nailed from the second I put the post up and been right throughout. You and many others have been wrong saying 9-3 has no chance. Or we need massive chaos. We didn’t. We just needed those dickheads from bama to beat OU. Now, since they didn’t we need an unlikely but not improbable outcome. Either bama or OU losing to talented but flawed teams while Ohio State takes out the trash.

you nailed it and the weekend isn't even over? it's a 50/50 there is 5 from the SEC if Bama or OU loses, it's a credible position but you nailed nothing except your fat dick rubbing one out to your own posts.  you throw out conclusions in advance with the volume of a hyena and the conviction of a toddler. you're going to be right sometimes based just on sheer volume of your predictions and the odds.

FCS is 24 teams

8 teams seeded 1-8, and 16 teams playing to decide who plays those 8 seeds next week

3-2 against #1 OSU, #3 Aggy, #4 UGA, #8 OU, #14 Vandy. If that’s not top 12 then h2h and rankings don’t matter.

Nothing matters

 only money matters

which is why we should be in

3 wins over top 10 teams should mean something

if we’re not in the playoff cancel upcoming big OOC games and reschedule Rice.

Keep scheduling games against UTEP and UTSA and tell them to scheme exactly like ou and aggy so they are like scrimmages for our big rival games.

schedule exactly zero games out of conference that finished top 50 and just have a great record since the committee is full of retards

Yeah I nailed it you fucking room temperature IQ idiot. It was a probabilistic post that had every fucking thing lined up ahead of time and focused on what mattered and what didn’t. That’s still what matters and what doesn’t. Basically boiled down to about a 35% chance Michigan, OU or USC would go 10-2 and we’d be out, or if they didn’t we’d be in (thus the 65% chance). And that’s exactly how it’s going to play out regardless of results, unless we get an unlikely outcome like 9-3 Domers or 9-3 bama.

16 And no byes

Eliminate CCGs and let the conference declare their winner via tiebreakers, but in reality, who cares if there’s no byes

I think you reward top 8 with byes, one less game to play.   Agree eliminate CCGs.  First round starts weekend CCGs used to start.  playoffs would last about a month.

I doubt we need all of that to happen to get to 10. Maybe this week, but not after CCG week.

And Tulane or Memphis or whatever the G5 fucking flavor of the week is does NOT fucking belong. Quit that bullshit and we aren't having this conversation cause Texas is in now.

Want to pick a single point of issue, that is the clear and easy low hanging fruit.

I think that is more of a legal issue than anything. Expand the playoffs to 16 and I think that issue gets solved. Top 15 get in.

Well, fuck, let's get some Surly lawyers on the case to fix that bullshit. There are enough billable hours from them on this forum, hell in this thread, to more than resolve whatever nonsense is creating that issue.

I may be oversimplifying this but I think all Texas needs is for lsu to upset OU and we are in, as long as the expected win occurs (OSU over Michigan). Texas will jump Miami, Utah, and Vanderbilt after beating a@m and that will make Texas one of five sec teams in (Georgia, bama, A&M, ole Miss)

I doubt LSU is upsetting OU. Agree with your post though and I think SEC could get 6 teams in.

room temperature IQ idiot - nice try. I could run circles around your fat ass both literally and intellectually and by any other metric you decide.

Your post isn't even consistent with your prior positions. you were all worried about Georgia Tech and Miami. now it's SEC gets five, it's a done deal.  Great Hornsby outlined that well, without acting like a fucking fool and I acknowledged it has legit merit in a room with competing interests which you can't even begin to acknowledge are at play here. You throw shit on the wall with blunt criticisms of your strawman poster calling this mysterious poster a dipshit or a dumbass and then you vomit on the board.

you were either bullied as a kid who has now turned into the internet tough guy or you were always the playground bully, either way, you're nothing but an internets champion. congrats my man, you deserve it.

In the past this was true. I’m not sure now. If the committee wants us in we are in

If they wanted us in regardless of outcomes today we'd have been higher than 16

Why

The committee ranks differently than the AP. They have an order of operations on who's done what and what they can do in the remaining games. See Michigan jumping us for seemingly no reason.

If the committee wanted us in they'd have dropped us less after Georgia and kept us around 12.

We need 4 to 5 losses today to get in so cheer for chaos.

For the same reason you just stated, if the committee wants us in, they will put us in. We just need a spot to open up for us. Meaning we need OU or Bama to lose. Then they will do whatever backwards math they need to do to justify us getting the bump.
