So close to 7-1 but alas. We clearly learned how to close out a game better after the ASU debacle

Maybe even 9-1

or is it 8-1

When was the last time Texas scored 100 points in back-to-back games?

before yesterday we had like 6-7 100 point games in the last decade. definitely rare.

Hurley uglied up the first part of the game.  fouls ensued everywhere and killed any flow for us. and Miller didn't take the ball out of Odums hands.

good win against NCST to make up for it though.

Texas was 16-32 on the treys.

Eight in each half.

Pope was crazy which I can't see happing very often.  Heide should hit his.  the big surprise for me was Wilcher and of course Weaver.  If Weaver can make it such that D can't sag on him that could be huge for spacing.

Like I said last night, that felt like our ceiling. We’re not going to shoot that high consistently, and we couldn’t get the ball inside with any kind of consistency.

Nice to win, but that same approach will also be why we go 4-30 from three in a game and lose to an opponent we shouldn’t.

That was my feeling. I hate to be a pessimist, but if we are shooting the way we did last night, it should be a 25 point win, not struggling to close a team out.

Does anybody have the +/- numbers? Tramon Mark’s had to be atrocious last night. Weaver and Wilcher should be getting all of his minutes until he figures things out.

I'm not worried about this team putting up points.

They need to be better on defense.

agree with all of this. crazy that we hit 16 threes at a 50% clip and still had to hold off nc state. that was some penders era ball there. and mark- my god. it was like he was point shaving last night. what the hell has happened to him?

This is a common issue with teams that haven't played together much, especially when there's no clear No. 1 PG to reliably get into the paint and distribute the ball. You're going to rely on a few guys getting hot enough long enough to score 80-plus points and then hope you can scramble to a W.

We should improve on D and the boards as guys settle into their roles. Of course, in SEC play the overall level of competition also will ramp up, which might hide any improvement we make this season. I'm just glad there's enough overall ability on the roster to build on. Despite the collapse against ASU, it's been a better beginning than I expected.

I don't know if we can count on shooting threes like this very often.

Many of us had the same thought, I'm sure.

It's great to shoot 50% from 3, but we sure as hell can't expect it. Hopefully, we'll get more continuity in our half-court game so we don't have to rely on lights-out shooting. Or ramp up the defensive pressure for transition buckets.

Yeah I still can’t figure out why we didn’t go get a PG in the portal. I understand we couldn’t/wouldn’t be able to get a great player but surely there was some above average, experienced PG at a mid-major that would have jumped at the chance to come to Texas.

Defense definitely needs to improve and I’m extremely disappointed in Mark and Traore so far. But we are much more fun to watch so there’s that. This team is definitely capable of making the tournament.
