Saw this leaving the stadium. When did they change? For decades it was always all orange after beating a and m.

It’s possible that with the pause in the game, the people who used to be in charge of those things are no longer still at the University. I’m sure they’ve been made aware.

I’ll be honest: we never beat them in my four years on campus (‘91-‘94 seasons). That’s a tradition I missed out on when I should have known.

Do we know who was on the other side of this wager?

Isn’t Cosmi the only Longhorn on the Commanders team?

Here is a kick-ass article on the history of the tower, the tower lights, and the folks who made it happen:

https://jimnicar.com/2020/07/05/tower-light-tower-bright/
The policy as of 1957 was to light the top of the tower orange for football wins and SWC championships, but reserve the entire tower as orange for victories over Texas A&M.  And relight it on the Sunday following the game in case any students had been out of town for Thanksgiving and wanted to see it lit.

Probably due to construction. Lots of scaffolding surrounding the tower.

They would not be favored. Sagarin has us within 2 points now and FPI has us within a point. And we just beat them by 10.

Not that I expect that dipshit to understand betting lines.

Turned 50 on Wednesday the 26th and wife surprised me with tickets to the game with hotel. Went to the game in that ****hole. This was the experience:

First off, they have a cult centered around a steer. No arguing that. The next person who tells me Aggies have a cult, I will buy them a game ticket to that ****hole in Austin. Game was loud. They know how to do it on 3rd/4th down. Not as well as us, but they obviously got it done for their team.

Stadium itself is ok. It is nothing like ours being new and all. We did it first class.

Fans were good to us. DPS troopers and UTPD all around to deter stuff. Lots of Aggies around us. Some were relatives of life-long teasips. Interactions included fans around me in the game. They were loud and treated me with respect and talked cordially most of the game. Trips to the john were no issue. I sat in 127 the alumni area. All grads were mature and there to see the game. Wife commented that all the wives around had wedding sets much larger than hers. I am a watch guy and saw lots of Rolex Daytonas. Must really be showing off their debt. I am a well-compensated physician in a successful private practice. We don't flaunt wealth, but she noticed how teasippers do. I agree. But I digress.

Jackass(es) of the game…two younger alumni offspring fat ass, bags of **** that got there early with us (45min prior)…we sat right in front them due to the seats we bought. They kept droning on about how "Aggies weren't good for anything…only good for soldiering, working the land…a cult…maybe I should spit on the one in front of me (my wife)…etc". They made it absolutely obvious all of it was for our benefit. I turned around and said, "Enough. When you were pledging your frat, I was defending your asses in Afghanistan." They immediately apologized and the one threatening to spit, said he didn't even go there. Thanked me for my service. No more issues from them except to hear them talk about going to do lines of coke after the game. My wife is a beautiful redhead but scrappy. She would have beat his ass had he spit on her. I told her I had her bail money…cash in my pocket.

The whole game day experience there is very cartoonish and carnival-like. It seemed like a circus with a football game interspersed the commercial breaks. There were multiple cutesy-like events going on at the same time…a mariachi band playing and the camera on the steer eating various things…or the lit up phones back and forth they tried to keep going with their cheers for the 3:30 commercial break…all very made up. This is the stuff I see starting at Kyle Field. I have seen ya'll comment on this. Don't go there.

Bottom line. We lost a game we were not in the second half. It absolutely was their biggest game. Their season is over and this made it for them. I will never return there. It turned my stomach in a visceral way to see that sight. I have teasip friends who are doing well and smart and good citizens. They act like juveniles whose parents never taught them any manners in their stadium. Didn't hear the "poor aggies" at the end. Agree with input from others that no one would have made a move if I had gotten in their face. Most are limp-wristed drunks or nerds without a backbone. Made it back to the hotel/Dennys without incident. Heard more lip from t shirt fans in Wichita Falls.
This fuckstick has been hard at work in his momma's basement for 36 hours churning out this masterpiece.

You know, that would have been more believable if he said he was a veterinarian.

I do love the “I saw people with signs of wealth. Clearly, they’re all in debt.” That’s what someone with a little money says when they are around real money. No, dude….thats what “money” really looks like.
You don’t put shit like a private plane on a credit card. And after the Michigan game last year, I was out hunting in the ABIA flight path. The line of private planes coming in starting around 4-5 hours after the game ended…yeah, you dumb aggy fuck, Texas has MONEY.
Goddamn these fucking idiots have zero self-awareness.

What were you hunting? And did you kill anything?

Dove season.  And yes, dove were moving pretty well that part of the season last year.  Got to watch the game, then go out and have an afternoon hunt, IIRC I got 5-6.  Enough action to keep things moving, but not a limit or anything like that.  Early season early kickoff games are great for that - watch football, then go hunting.

I guess part of not flaunting your wealth is staying at a cheap hotel that shares the property with a Denny’s.

eta: the only dennys that shows up on google maps is across the highway from the drum and is next to the doubletree.  Is that really the only one in Austin now?

I thought the City bought that one for a homeless shelter?
