I think like most of the SEC teams do a first down chant.

First down Texas: Fight

First down: Ollllllle Miss

First down: Rolllllllll Tide

First down: War Eagle

First down: Anchor Down

Do you not remember the little apple?

GOOD FOR ANOTHER WILDCAT:

FIRST DOWN!

Aggies do that also. As do high schools across America. It’s stupid. At least ours is a little unique.

A&M is too rigid in their defensive philosophy, you could tell in the pre-game interviews Sark knew he could break their “rules”. Also Elkos 4-2-5 is just not sound against outside zone concepts, it doesn’t matter where he lines up his backers. PK is now 9-0 vs Klein. A&M will have a hard time winning this game if things remain status quo.

Plus. that's the stupidest fucking song of all time:

If yer gonna play in Texas

You gotta have a fiddle in the band.

That lead guitar is hot

But not for a Louisiana man.

Who gives a flying fuck what Louisiana man wants if you're playing in Texas?

Oh, but the lyrics to "Mo Bamba" are fucking poetry?

So I watched the replay of the game on sky view. Are the music between plays and the play by play announcer as annoying in person as they seem on that replay?

100% yes.  No team has ever subverted their own home-field advantage like we do.  We win home games *despite* the non-stop effort of the jumbotron to distract and silence the home crowd.

We do sooooooooo much dumb shit to take 200,000 eyes off the field, and tranform the audience into passive consumers watching fucking commercials during a game.  It's awful.  I cannot count how many times we're in a 1-score game in the 4th quarter, and trying to get a critical 3rd-down stop on defense... so we BLAST a lip-sync contest or a Foot Locker "follow the hidden ball" dumb shit, or we try to make "who wants a t-shirt" happen.  It's just monumentally stupid.  Idiocracy stupid.

All these silly songs intended to be funny, like playing "Don't Do Me Like That" after a penalty against us... it's so cringey.  It would be cringey if a junior college did it in 2002... but for UT to do it in 2025.... Ugh.

Fortunately the place was so incredibly rocking on Friday, even the jumbotron was unable to spoil the party (like it often does).

Call me, CDC.  We can fix it.

The lyrics are not "a" Louisiana Man.  There is no "a".  Louisiana Man is a Doug Kershaw song from 1970 which features Doug playing the fiddle.   The lyrics mean that if you are playing the song Louisiana Man in Texas you better have a fiddle in the band and not a lead guitar.

I was at the Sam Houston game this year. Not every little thing needs to be applauded or have its on chant or song. Let the band play between downs.

This crap got rolling heavily around 98 with that fucking TacoBell gong starting it all.

I miss the old college football experience. The game, cheer leaders, band and crowd - that’s it.

Slippery Rock 20

Millersville 17

Back to a little bit of game talk, I was surprised that Endries was basically able to run wild all game.  Surely he shouldn't present such an athletic mismatch to the #3 team in the country?

WOW. So that’s what they are saying. I never knew that. I really never cared actually, but I am glad to know it.

I think y’all misunderstand who the stadium atmosphere is meant for. It’s not for visiting teams, or players, or recruits. It’s for people like me who are too blitzed out of our minds to notice what songs are playing or what the PA announcer says. Except the mariachi. That never hits. move it to the 2Q.

I haven't watched much of them this year, but they were a terrible zone team last year.

I was disappointed in the Twins Cam or whatever they call it that they passed on the most obvious one ever...the Clark Lea/ Lex Luthor one was unexpected and great, this would have been the funniest thing ever to happen at DKR

This 1,000%.

In the fourth quarter of the Clemson game, when the momentum has swung to them, nothing fires up our defense like playing the "Which horse will win the race? game on the Jumbotron.

The Portland Trailblazers used to employ an actually very funny use of music. Whenever their team was hit by a questionable call or foul, they would play the theme from "The Twilight Zone," haha.

I dunno. I was in Columbus and Gainsville this year and they both had the PA systems cranked to 11.

And Athens, too.  Loudest non-stop blasting by video board I've heard. Did not hear their band play once during game.

(So that's pretty much our trifecta of our losses this year. 😠)

All of you so hooked Longhorn football that you have thousands of posts on this board, go to games etc don't seem to understand that game production isn't meant for you.  You're already so jonesing for your next fix that they don't need to waste time on your addicted ass.   It's meant for the 18-34 demographic and the casual fan checking things out and it's meant to move them from where they are today to being a 55 year old curled up on the floor in a fetal position in mid July because the next 6 weeks seems so far to go and you got the shakes real bad.  The 18-34 demographic loves all that shit.  It's called marketing....yea it sucks at times.  It isn't changing.

I mean I am older now too.  Some of the stuff is annoying, some of it is pretty cool.  We are definitely throwing our money around with the entire spectacle.  I spend more of my time thinking about the next play then whatever is going on, but that's me.

Is it a hot take to think that season ticket holders who sell a majority of their tickets on 3rd party site(which can be tracked) should have them revoked for people that will actually show up?

The way this aging Gen Xer sees it , there is something different about watching some of the SEC games on TV that you actually feel like you are at the games.   I notice whenever I watch Bama, UGA and a few other SEC teams, the networks have no problems turning up the volume from the stadium mics to pick up the band.   It used to be to some extent we'd get the same when we played at DKR, we'd hear the band often between plays or timeouts which just adds to broadcast.    Now they limit it because who wants to hear some heavy bass influence pump up music that you can find at an NBA arena or NFL stadium where they don't have bands and the such to pump up the crowds or provide the atmosphere.

Now get off my lawn..... I need to go open the AARP mailer on my kitchen counter.

They sold the tickets, people showed up in the seats.

They can have it. It is unbearable for me.  The only game I enjoy going to any longer is Texas/OU.
