underdog. if the committee's plane got hit by a hookem shaped thunderbolt and they put us in because of that I would of course root for us. but we are not in so underdog. except when they are aggy, at that point just take the mutt out back and shoot it.

Isn't it amazing the number of schools who just this year passed up on guys from lower levels so they could get in a bidding war for Kiffin.

Right on. But when you wake up tomorrow and realize you’ve been huffing glue with Liucci, try to hold onto this feeling.

I'm about to drop a bunch of $$$ on B1G champs gear. I don't give a fuck. This may never happen again. I'm gonna buy my grandkids some stuff, too.

I cannot act like I've been there before, because I have not.

I'm only celebrating because Day lost. Fuck that guy. Along with anyone named Kirby, Riley, Stoops, and anyone associated with ouSux.

Both Cig and Sark came from the Saban coaching tree. Between the two of them Cig, however, had more success and experience as a HC. CDC should have interviewed him.

lets remember we had an apopleptic fit when we got sark and missed urban. can you imagine the ashes of the tower if we went and got jmu's coach.

You are 💯 correct. And the reality of it just fucking pisses me off. I wonder how many interviews Cig probably bombed meanwhile Kiffin who will lie to your face, sleep with your wife and daughter at the same time and stab you in the back is who they want. Not an awkward dude who is older and can coach. He wasn’t given a chance bc of that. What a miss. I hope he wins it all in the playoffs. Damn I’ve just never seen a coaching job like this. Takes a program with super low expectations with the second most losses (700 plus) in FBS history and in year one gets to ten wins. Year two takes down a rival they ain’t beaten since 1988 and is undefeated and Big 10 champion in year two and number one seed in playoffs. I would flex like a mofo if I did all that and he is humble awkward and quiet and excited to hang out in the coaches room with his long time staff. Oh and he also didn’t destroy JMU and leave the cupboard bare on his way out the door cuz they in too. wtf??? That’s just rare.

He took everyone from JMU

IMO I doubt he could do at Texas what he did at Indiana. There's too many cooks in the kitchen at Texas, and too much money and interest to make incredible transformations like we see at IU possible at Texas.

And JMU is in because of a really strange quirk - they aren't one of the 12 best teams in the country, they're just uniquely positioned to benefit from the structure of the CFP selection criteria. In a way, Texas choosing the hard road in going to the SEC and scheduling tough OOC opponents is going to make for conditions for a good team but also give us a harder road than everyone else to get to the playoff.

There was a good article recently on Cig in the NYT/Athletic. He’s a coaches coach and a heck of a good guy. It’s great to see good things happening for him. Tonight we are all IU fans….

My neighbor’s grandson was the starting center for Indiana last season.

Was really happy to see him get a winning season after the seasons he played through before Cignetti got there.

Definitely my team for the playoffs this year.

there is no way anyone would have been happy if he had been hired from James Madison. none. that includes the money people. as an AD, you damn well sure better keep that in mind. people are giving Florida shit for hiring Tulane's coach, and you think James Madison would have flown here?

Today i learned that j Smith is big and really good at getting separation. He's not fast like Moss or Cal Johnson.

Name me the number of receivers who truly compare in terms of physical tools, stature, AND play making as those two guys.

The presumption has been that Smith is some kind of unicorn. He's real good. I would love him here.  But anyone pining for him to be a top 2 pick in a year are placing him in a elite tier that he's not in

It’s not about the Saban tree just by itself. It’s about the Saban tree and what you did afterwards.

Sark had more experience in the P4.

Agree,  I think he was incredibly advanced when he came out of high school due to the resources and training available to him.

Problem is, some think he will just follow on that progression instead of the possibility he might have peaked.  Not saying he is going to turn into David Boston 2.0, but I agree he seems to lack something that will make him elite in the NFL.

Do you honestly believe the University of Texas would ever hire or interview a coach from a school that had just moved from FCS to FBS?

Funny who has been the best Buckeye receiver of late in the NFL.  A guy who had that great bowl game and put up some good years, but he never caught the fancy of the draft experts like others.

Yet they are still in the playoff discussion. This is weird as shit to me. They should be destroyed. Why are they not? Mack did it to us.

1st round pick and 1st WR off the board. plenty high on him at the time. nobody used the phrase generational talent like Harrison or Smith, but he got his due. you can always bet on the route runners in the league. see Emeka Egbuka.

Bama won't get left out

If that happens (which it won’t???) then we will hear about there is no point to have a CCG then or to play in one. Even though the loser from lesser conferences doesn’t make the show usually and some conference winners never make the show. I don’t know what the answer is. I always thought it should be 16 teams and two slots of those 16 should be play ins. But maybe that sucks too. This is just sad. The committee can’t make a good decision worth a shot after today. I wish they would allow a play in. It’s more football. Why not?

Probably because they play in the Sun Belt.

JSN was drafted 20th overall.

Very true, I believe the first receiver taken that year and he wasn't a reach, but a gift to the Seahawks at that position.

For some reason though not as high as Olave and Wilson the year before and he has become the better pro.

@futureman would have known to do this and you know it. He’s from the future. Sure it would be really unorthodox to fire your HC who had just made the SEC CCG (which probably will cease to exist now if shudder Bama is left out of the CFP) but fuck it.

Not just Texas for Wilson, but Lake Travis. The amount of local kids Texas misses on is impressive.

I’ve been saying this since I stepped foot on the campus. Too many people want/need/crave access. That’s an issue.

However, the same can be said at Alabama, Georgia, and Ohio State yet they seem just fine.
