I have not seen the new digs so here is a pretty cool look at the new locker room, facilities etc at Texas.  I just ran across this thought I would post for others who have not seen it.

I was fortunate enough to get a tour a few weeks ago and the whole place looks great. They're going to raze a shit ton of the set-up immediately after the season, the inside of the lockerroom itself being the exception.

They have a countdown to the RRS clock that is always ticking down. I think Kenyatta Watson or someone tweeted an image of it this week as well. It was nice to the emphasis, given what we know in regard to how Mack Brown approached/didn't approach that game.

Yeah, I love that countdown wall. That is our big game so don't shy away from it. And I love the fact that it must piss the team off when they see that pedestal empty for a year. Don't let yourself look at an empty pedestal for a year. That golden hat trophy needs to sit right there.

Just a blip in time to me.

Nah they're replacing the ones they put in when Herman got here. Some state of the art stuff that reclines

No, these exact lockers were auctioned months ago, they will not help you load them and they each weigh 650-850lbs or something insane.

What I want is the sledge hammer Herman "used" .

Not sure any one moment has encapsulated a coach's tenure better than this one.

I went to school with Mical Padgett, who played late 80s - 91.  Dad told David McWilliams about Mical during his Freshman year in HS.  Great athlete!

730 lbs? So people are gonna roll up in a flatbed w/ a forklift to pick one of those things up?

It's not as hard as you would think, if you've got a good hand truck and a couple of dollies. Plus another reasonably strong adult man. Definitely need a truck or an flat bed trailer to haul it though.

Either way, it's better than winning an auction for a pool table and thinking I'd made out like a bandit, only to learn that transporting the fucking thing was going to cost 100x more than the winning bid.

Dude, I'm 55 and in solid B+ shape for my age. A few months ago I helped a buddy (67, probably A+ fitness level) move his 450 lb gun safe onto a U-Haul by carting across a parking lot several hundred yards. Fuck that shit. We're lucky we didn't end up in the ER.

You hit a certain age and realize that a small slip with something above a certain weight is going to end up in a really, REALLY bad situation. Anything north of 500 lbs is asking for trouble if you don't have the right gear. Over 700? Hire the professionals and guys who are too young & stupid to think what their back & joints are going to be like down the road.

This right here.  Furniture movers are cheap.

I mean...ideally I don't do anything I can pay someone else to do for me. But I recently moved a 500 lbs gun safe by myself because it wasn't that hard and it was more convenient than hiring someone. Honestly, the weight of the locker doesn't bother me (provided I can find someone to help), it's the size and proportions. 750 lbs is a beast, no doubt, but if it's distributed evenly it can be manageable. But if that locker is top heavy or has some unusual sway, then it could be a job for the professionals.

Ewers put the team in damn near identical condition. With even less time on the game clock, no timeouts, the D let 0U go 75 and a TD in what, five plays. Basically the same situation for Bama in Austin, although we only had a two-point lead to protect and couldn't do it that time, either.

Not sure if "cheap" is the right word here.  "Worth it" is probably more accurate.  Last week I paid a couple of guys $170 to move this vintage ice chest less than 100' and up a flight of stairs.  Less than 10 min of actual work, and probably 15 total from arrival to departure for them.  Definitely worth it, but it pained me to hand over that cash.

I remember when my grandparents had one of those that they actually used as a secondary cooler in their little cafe that was attached the granpa’s auto repair garage. (1924-58).

Ain't got a grip on it. one way or the other - not like yours, anyway.

All I'm up to is pointing out how close it is, how fine is the line between winning and losing, between celebration and heartbreak.

Some games the O puts us ahead with time running out, and then the D does or fails to do the stop and win... but some games the O has the last shot and does or fails to make the score and win.

It's never just the QB who can't hit the pass or the CB who doesn't get a hand on the ball (or does, but drops it). It's the coaches, the staff, the players... and it's us, the fans.

You should forget this shit and buy a few of the lockers - they'd look good in the big cabana at the far end of the pool, no?
