These are dumb posts and you should feel bad. We have had socialized higher Ed and medicine in this country for decades, just the dumbest and most expensive and unfair version in the world.  Travel some. Switzerland’s system is more private than ours is. Also cheaper. Also better. They just don’t pay as much rent to parasites.
What you and @fattyflattie vote for is regulatory capture, not capitalism. It’s one step away from Soviet oligarchy as far as I’m concerned and as a dedicated free marketeer and price discovery absolutist people like you are a greater risk to capitalism than the likes of AOC.

Switzerland is more private but it isn’t free, they still pay out the ass compared to the rest of Europe. It’s also compulsory. It’s much easier to manage, though, due to the fact that hardly anyone lives there.

Yes. They pay less than us, but more than people in the state payer systems, who also pay less than us. Both have better outcomes than we do, even the poor countries like Slovenia.

It IS compulsory. People in our system who aren’t covered get care anyway. They also get billed at the full price. Then the unpaid portion gets charged off. Who pays for that? Society. Thats why Americans are 6X as likely to go to Mexico for care as Canadians are to come here. Our system is highly socialized, super expensive and really terrible.

if you were trying to make my point stronger, you did. Congrats, Comrade Poe!

Countries with 2 million people find it easier to navigate their healthcare system, news at 11. It’s almost as if undocumented immigrants are a strain on our medical system. Naw, can’t be that.

Handwaving, eh? How sad. It’s almost like you want me to see the white flag without you showing it to me.

let me let you in on two secrets:

1) Immigrants are not a proportionately greater strain on our system than many that have both lower costs and better outcomes.

2) Directionally, costs decline as population  grows because non-care as a % of spend goes down. Because, and this is going to blow your mind, those of us who actually understand markets know about this thing called “economies of scale.”

Hopefully these kids of yours will learn more about the world than you did, and when you are long gone they’ll chuckle about how their old man had to be told about gravity by strangers on the internet.

Yeah, 20 bill a year is a a drop in the bucket. Although, I don’t mind because my paying for these illegals put me on Mother Teresa’s level. Every generation knows more than their parents thankfully. I also hope that they assume I was discussing the awesomeness of tiny nations in Europe on the internet and not porn.

It’s half a percent of total healthcare spending so yea it’s sorta a drop in the bucket

A&M is aggressively pursuing academic talent. A lot of kids who meet the auto acceptance at UT are going there because they are getting money thrown at them. This isn’t surprising

This.  70k undergrads ain't all inbred farmers.  I could go on, but it will derail into my critique of our university's current academic strategy, which is pissing off alot of exes.  And rightly belongs in the college acceptance thread.

Anyone see the new billboard on 45 between 10 and 610?  Something about weak men with a picture of Beto doing the L sign on his head.

There's one on 290 between Brenham and Giddings that says "Take our guns? You Beto not try!" with an unflattering picture of Beto on it.

This needs to be a huge campaign message ….

I’m glad this is fresh on Beto’s mind. I really hope he hammers hot wheels during the debate on the lack of progress in marijuana reform statewide. Having governor cripple just sit by and pretend it’s not an important issue while bathroom Dan single handedly chokes out all efforts to improve our laws is unacceptable.

Dems need to avoid equating rally size with expected vote count. Basically this is what Trump does and anything Trump supports should be dismissed.

Many times the candidate, with the highest supporter passion, is looking for a new job the day after the election.

Well that, and those two candidates aren’t even running against each other… what a strange tweet.

$50 and my left nut says we can start a twitter rumor that Abbott refused an audience, not out of fear of embarrassment, but to have all the empty seats represent all the children of Texas that were aborted under Beto's administration.  And add a "click here to donate to show your support of Greg Abbott's nobody-in-seats decision to save Texas babies" and we'd by this time tomorrow, we'd all have club level seats, an 8-ball, 2 strippers each, and a private party on a jet.

Yup.  the (R) by their name is all that is required.

MIL is visiting us in CO right now (she lives in TX).  Had a conversation with her this morning where she tried to 'both sides' the election deniers and J6 violence.  When I shot that down, she pivoted to Hunter Biden.  Their arguments don't even make sense.  They vote R because they've always voted R and that's about all the thought that goes into it for so many people.  So guys like Abbott and Paxton can keep doing their thing forever because TX voters will never hold them accountable.

As someone who lives in CO, let me assure you that Aggy loves weed just as much as you guys do.
