Actually a big deal because shadow fleets are typically uninsured and not owned by the government. So, moving Russian oil becomes a big risk for companies to take.

It's actually not easy to find and hit ships in the Black Sea that have their transponders off unless you have good intel (from NATO?) although the one hit by a mine could have been friendly fire.

More info, apparently pretty fucking far from Russia/Crimea. Ukraine ain't playing around and maybe hunting them as soon as they enter the Black Sea, which I guess means they do have help from NATO/Turkey. When they said "mine" it's possible they meant explosives attached to the ship. These tankers were headed to Russia.

------

A second oil tanker has gone up in flames in the Black Sea. Both ships have been identified as the M/T Kairos and M/T Virat. The destination of both oilers is the Russian port of Novorossiysk.

Shortly after crossing the Bosporus north of Istanbul they were struck by USVs. Both ship are totally engulfed in fires and abandoned by the crews. It is only a question of time until they sink.

It appears that Ukraine has declared open season for Russian shadow fleet oilers.
