That is a lot of equipment to be flown in. I wonder what else was provided from our stocks in Europe via truck or train.

I'm wondering if Turkey is going to dump some of their Russian hardware for American.  Also, there was this article month ago about Turkey wanting 40 more F-16s and 80 modernization kits for existing fighters (https://www.reuters.com/world/us-says-potential-f-16-sale-turkey-would-serve-us-interests-nato-letter-2022-04-06/).
Or hell, perhaps the US might open them up to the F-35 program.
And I'm also wondering if a bunch of countries are lining up to buy some of the stuff Turkey is making.  Ukraine has put out quite the highlight reel for Turkish drone sales alone.
Turkey coming back in on the F-35 is a nonstarter from those that I know on Air Staff.

Well they probably aren’t buying the s-400 anymore. Seems like the supply chain for those just got wrecked. So we have the upper hand in that negotiation when they come calling for weapons systems. We can tell them we will sell them upgraded F-16s or maybe even the new F-15 and they’ll just have to like it. The price of their insouciance.

McDonalds trying to sell its 850 stores in Russia, with 62,000 employees.  That means they won’t be coming back.  Putin still master strategist.

I guess in Russia the franchises aren't owned by individuals? Or perhaps McDonalds is just trying to help package a massive deal? Interesting.

Really dumb question:  how can chips from dishwashers be compatible with advanced weaponry?

There are lots of general microcontrollers that can be programmed to do a variety of things.  One potential problem, though, is that microchips designed for military use are often tested and rated for extreme temperatures and shock, and are sometimes better shielded to prevent electrical interference.  A microcontroller from a dishwasher or other normal appliance wouldn't have any of that, and would therefore potentially be less reliable.

Looks like the Russians are stealing the Ukrainian's ideas, but their execution is much shittier.

Yeah that wasn't much of a big bada boom.

Also notice their drone is hanging out WAY higher up than the Uke's drones are. They know they'll get shot down otherwise.

That coupled with no fins means you really can't control where that thing will actually land

Sweden has officially entered the NATO chat.

https://www.bbc.com/news/live/world-europe-61461805

Norway, Denmark, and Iceland join the UK in pledging to defend Finland and Sweden if Russia attacks

Quote

Norway, Denmark and Iceland issued a joint pledge to their "Nordic neighbours", offering them support should they come under attack before their respective applications have been processed. Jonas Gahr Stoere, Norway's prime minister, said in a statement:

Together with Denmark and Iceland, Norway stands ready to assist its Nordic neighbours by all means necessary should they be the victim of aggression on their territory before obtaining Nato membership."

Quote

It’s rare to see Sweden’s two largest parties holding a joint news conference, and in such agreement, especially just months before a general election.

But Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson and Ulf Kristersson, leader of the largest opposition party, the centre-right Moderates, clearly wanted to send out a message that Sweden is united when it comes to its Nato application.

Andersson suggested it was the end of an era for her country and said she was confident that the Swedish public supported her decision.

Kristersson argued it wasn’t a time for party politics, but couldn’t contain his excitement that a policy his party has been pushing for for two decades is finally coming into fruition.

Their news conference followed a three-hour special debate in the Swedish parliament earlier on Monday.

There wasn’t a vote, but this was an important chance for opposition parties to express their views before the government’s final decision on Nato membership.

Although most offered strong support for the decision, the Left Party and the Greens remain opposed to the application.

Regarding tourism and investment:

Cartels : Mexico :: Kremlin : Russia

It’s a wet blanket on foreign investment when the legal system doesn’t work, the cops work for the criminals, and tourists sometimes get held hostage.

If Russia only had tropical beaches where the rules of getting money apply.

So they are putting grenades in plastic cups so they will go off when they land when dropped from UAVs:

notice there wasnt a SINGLE bit of movement in ANY of the nearest trenches to that grenade going off.

meaning either A) 1 person happened to be exactly where the grenade was and died immediately.....

or B) that was a fucking empty trench system

Well, that's a significant overstatement.  Both Finland and Sweden have expressly stated that their NATO membership will NOT allow either 1) nuclear weapons to be stored on their soil, or 2) permanent foreign military bases on their soil.  So, like the two things that made the Cuban Missile Crisis what it was, will not be happening.

Russia fucked up.  It presented a clear and convincing case to every country near it that they best get some powerful friends and right quick.  If Russia didn't want that outcome, then it should have behaved differently -- a reading from the Fuck Around and Find Out Chronicles 2:24.

Went to check the credentials of this Tony Nash guy, and he's just another fucking cryptard.

Quelle surprise.

Well then, at least we know what will prevent the new NATO developments from becoming another "Cuban Missile Crisis".......

.......that's right, you know it, say it along with me.....

The article says the restaurants are owned by McDonalds so not franchises. Looks like they want to sell off their buildings and equipment. Sounds like a good opportunity for a McDowells expansion.
