My understanding is that UKR had ~180,000 active duty troops before the invasion. The current mobilization has the goal of increasing that to 1 million. Even with the exodus / displacement of nearly 7 million people, they still have a population in country of nearly 40 million. As long as they maintain the will to fight and we continue supplying them with weapons, they won’t lose due to lack of fighters.

And they can also easily rotate the guys doing the fighting to rear areas to give them a break and get rested up, whereas Russian logistics are a complete shitshow, and they don't have reserves that can easily spell frontline fighters, and in many areas, there is really no "rear" (other than crossing the border into Russia), so the Russians probably aren't getting much of a break.

Reports that RU is starting to shell RU held cities in the Donbas to blame UAF.

Western intelligence (and the ISR flights, etc.) will see right through that.   It's a huge waste of resources since those munitions are not being expended to harm Ukraine strategically (supply depots, railheads, well behind the lines), nor are they are being used in a tactical fashion to help Russian troops that are in trouble.

But if you were Putin and had to mobilize all of the reserves/conscripts that Russian law is preventing you from mobilizing, you need some flashy false flags like this to sell the Russian public on your 3-day war that's now at Day 101.

It isn’t aimed at the west, it is aimed at making the people of Donbas believe UKR is attacking them.

I have a feeling that they are pretty tapped out in terms of trying to get more Donbas residents into uniform and fighting for the Russians.

Tying it into the Russian state-TV pundits, feels more like they are saying "Ukraine is us, it is ours, these Russian-speaking people are Russian, and we need to help protect them from these so-called Ukrainian nationalists, so we will have to mobilize more Russian soldiers!"

It may also be intended to send the message to people in occupied areas "If we have to leave, we're punishing everyone on the way out.  So it's in your best interest to help us stay."  Or, maybe, all of the above.

One heavily stocked US carrier group, extra destroyers and subs, in this theatre and the Russian invasion never hits day 2.

No doubt at all.  I’m talking about their idiotic prop news talking about invading Paris, Berlin, Washington.  Lol

Even in fantasyland where they could get here, their army literally could not defeat our citizens in a war, let alone our army.

Delivering new arms to Kyiv only aims to “drag out the armed conflict for as long as possible,” Putin said in an interview to Rossiya-1 TV channel, Russian state media TASS reported.

In the case of deliveries of long-range missiles to Kyiv, Russia will draw "appropriate conclusions" and strike those “facilities” that it has not yet targeted, he said.

"If they are supplied, we will draw appropriate conclusions from this and use our own weapons, of which we have enough, in order to strike at those facilities we are not targeting yet," Putin said, commenting on the situation regarding the supply of American multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) to Ukraine.

If you have to go around telling people you have enough weapons, I wonder if you actually do.

The safest interpretation of any Russian announcement is the opposite of what was stated.

American delivery of MLRS makes no difference on the battlefield = we are deathly afraid of them.

We have plenty of weapons = we are critically short of weapons.
