If the Russkies or their proxies execute American POWs, we should execute a similar number of their spies.

Is it time to expel their diplomatic mission? Might be time to expect them to do that to us. Start burning the files Carl. Here come the ruskies.

Isn't this threat old NEWS?  Are they recycling threats now because they have nothing but bluster?

Go on President Biden, send 5 more HIMARS for Brittany, 20 more for defensive purposes and maybe a few long range missiles for hitting Red Square for every American POW captured with orders to hand the button to Ukrainian with dead kids if they are not returned alive and healthy.

It’s geared towards discouraging more foreign volunteers, as usual  with these threats, but announcing they have an official area for executions is new.  And a great way to encourage the Ukrainians to take fewer Russian POWs.

It’s pretty clear there are two types of foreign volunteers: those that actually volunteered, and are near on the front lines fighting. And ex socom/cia “volunteers” who are not near the front lines are are engaged in training/OSINT/whatever with the Ukraine government and defense ministry leadership.

There is another type, but they don't get the media attention. There are a ton of medics and humanitarian volunteers. Lets add to that the countless hidden volunteers outside of ukraine working to make the refugee's transition easier. Not taking away anything from those fighting, but important to remember those as well.

Even @Brisketexan's son for making tacos with hot european chicks

But was he making guacamole?

This.  I remember earlier in the war reading about a 20 year old from Kentucky who went to Ukraine to fight.  He didn't have military training, so they told him that they couldn't send him to fight.  He asked what he could do, and was made part of the team exhuming the victims of Russian war crimes for identification and investigation.  With the threat of mines and booby traps, that job is just as dangerous as combat, and just as disgusting, if not more so.  He is a hero.

Round them up and ship them to Ukraine. Let the Ukrainians place them in shopping malls, train stations, elementary schools, or other civilian targets those terrorist motherfuckers like to target with missiles.

Angry Season 2 GIF by The Office

Speaking of gas:

Quote

Reuters: EU plans gas deal with Azerbaijan ‘in pivot away from Russia.’

According to a draft document seen by Reuters, the European Commission has proposed to the EU a deal with Azerbaijan “to increase imports of natural gas and support the expansion of a pipeline to do so.”

Azerbaijan going to get denazified by Russia.

This is the way.

Not that it would work. The only thing that will work is for the Russian artillery and air force to be crippled.

(Has anybody ever seen a greasier fatter pilot contingent than these Russians? I flew in Nat'l Guard planes a few times, and those crews looked fit, like Olympians compared to these pasty gamer-body Russian pilots. Like they must grease the cockpit with Crisco so they can slide them in.)

That's why they don't eject.  The ejector seat isn't powerful enough to force their fat-ass pilots out of the cockpit.

Maybe the ejector foomps them out like a hotdog cannon but extras like parachutes and legs get ripped off in the process.

They are likely including the sinking/cost of the Moskva in the $1B amount.

Okay, I have an idea. We "surly" buy Elba and invite Putin for direct peace talks for the removal of international sanctions against Russia. We kick all of his entourage off the island and leave Putin there alone. I think he stays: I don't think Russians truly give a shit about Putin or Ukraine. End sanctions. End the war. And make Putin disappear.

We need a small island in the Aleutians with no human population, but a large population of Kodiaks.  Strip him to his skivies, smear him with honey, and cut him loose to fend for himself.  If he's half as macho as he claims, he should be fine.

Bold move by Putin to force Russian civilians to work the weekends, and fuck around with the employment of a lot of Russians in general.

Forcing companies to switch over to the “needs of the Russian Army” probably means forcing factories to retool and start making artillery ammo, more trucks, etc.  They damn sure won’t be making fancy air defense systems or missiles.

Somebody is under a lot more strain than we imagined.

I was thinking this too. It's not 1942, as advanced as weapon systems are today. Can't just retool a factory and start producing guided missiles in a couple of weeks.

And they can’t even manufacturer the basic components they need such as circuits, processors, etc., and can’t import them now (witness them having to skip things like airbag systems in their cars because they can’t get the basic components).  It’s a country of less than 140 million people whose economy is focused on oil and gas and agriculture as well, so their industrial base is very lacking.

All of this circles back to Putin has to hold on to everything Russia currently has in Ukraine, because there is no off-ramp.  He holds on or takes even more, or he’s finished.  His 3-day war is now over four months old and requiring him to take over the economy.

This is what is frustrating about Germany, etc.  Putin may not be on the ropes just yet, but he’s staggering around the ring and is bleeding.

Yeah, there aren't many countries that could manage even a basic nationalized command economy at this point.  And Russia is even less equipped than most.  This is a move that indicates Russia is in REALLY big trouble at this point.  The West absolutely has to hang on into the Fall, every passing month just shreds Russia that much more.

As @RDCanecutter pointed out, manpower is an issue for them, too.  You have to have able bodied men and women to man the production lines, the distribution lines, and the front lines.  They are already putting 50 and 60 year olds into the fighting.  Who's going to run the machinery?  They may be orcs, but they can't grow uruk-hai from the dirt like Saruman.

It’s pretty clear how Russia ended up like this. They get taken over by a dictator, who then kills / disappears a bunch of political opponents while stealing the national wealth to enrich himself. Reasonable and smart people realize this is a shit situation and leave the country ASAP. Repeat this cycle a couple of times and what you’re left with is a country populated only by thugs and sheep.

Also known as the “American aspirational model.”
