I think that Texas helmet at the end of the top shelf might be upside down. It’s hard to tell because it only appears briefly. Lol

Coach Boom makin' fun of Herbie...

Will Muschamp takes a friendly jab at Kirk Herbstreit's playing days...

Herbstreit's Ohio State bio described him as an "option-type QB who has improved as a passer." He spent four years on the roster before earning the starting nod as a fifth-year senior... and his final game as a collegian made it clear his career would end there.

From the UPI recap of the 1993 Citrus Bowl:

Ohio State quarterback Kirk Herbstreit hit just 8 of 24 passes for 110 yards. Robert Smith rushed 25 times for 112 yards and scored both Buckeyes' touchdowns.

The story later goes on to say 45 of Herbstreit's passing yards came on a screen to Smith, who would become a first-round draft pick of the Minnesota Vikings later that spring. That means Herbstreit's 23 other passes totaled 65 yards.

Georgia would go on to win the game, 21-14, thanks to running back Garrison Hearst's 163 yards and two touchdowns.

Flash forward to Saturday, and both Herbstreit and Muschamp will have their fingerprints all over the Peach Bowl.

Update: Herbstreit responded to the comment on Tuesday afternoon.

Surprisingly, Mr. Cesspool didn't say anything like "Yeah, that wasn't one of my better games" or have a decent comeback like "Well, we've certainly won more national championship than Georgia after I left" or anything like that.

I think the name of this thread comes from Tom Herman's pre-game speech to the players. Knute Rockne-esque. Almost as good as Kirby!

And fuck Georgia. Texas has no fear of the SEC. Just get us the fuck away from the state of goddamn Kansas!

Georgia football Twitter starts trolling TCU in third quarter

Story by Arthur Weinstein

The people running the Georgia Bulldogs Twitter account got an early start celebrating their CFP National Championship.  They started trolling the TCU Horned Frogs early in the third quarter.

The Georgia Football account tweeted a video with a spoof of TCU’s “Hypnotoad,” a kaleidoscope character that originated on the cartoon show “Futurama” but was adopted several years ago by the Horned Frogs as another mascot.

So the Georgia Football account introduced its own secondary mascot, “HypnoDAWG,” in a short video. Never mind that the game still had almost a full half to play. At that point, Georgia led 45-7, and the CFP title game outcome was not in doubt.

Note the distressed Kermit the Frog and the character in the iconic “Frogger” video game getting squashed.

Many fans thought it was brilliant, others argued it was a bad look to tweet the video during the game. Either way, it’s not likely this character will stick around and become a beloved Bulldogs icon.

Prayers to Georgia folks...

Georgia OL Devin Willock, recruiting staffer die in car crash

8:22 AM CT     Mark Schlabach  ESPN

ATHENS, Georgia -- Georgia football player Devin Willock and a recruiting staff member were killed in a car wreck in Athens early Sunday morning, the university confirmed in a statement.

Willock, a redshirt sophomore from New Milford, New Jersey, started two games on the offensive line this past season. Recruiting staff member Chandler LeCroy also was killed, according to the university.

"The entire Georgia family is devastated by the tragic loss of football student-athlete Devin Willock and football staff member Chandler LeCroy," the university statement said. "Two other members of the football program were injured in the accident. They are both in stable condition, and we will continue to monitor their status with medical personnel.

"Devin and Chandler were two special people who meant so much to the University of Georgia, our football program and our athletic department. We ask that everyone keep their families in your prayers during this very difficult time."

"We are all heartbroken and devastated with the loss of Devin Willock and Chandler LeCroy," Bulldogs coach Kirby Smart said in a statement. "Devin was an outstanding young man in every way. He was always smiling, was a great teammate and a joy to coach. Chandler was a valuable member of our football staff and brought an incredible attitude and energy every single day. We grieve with their families for this tragic loss and will support them in every way possible."

SEC commissioner Greg Sankey and Bulldogs senior linebacker Nolan Smith took to Twitter to react to the news.

In a statement, Athens-Clarke County Police reported the single-vehicle accident occurred around 2:45 a.m. ET on Sunday. Police said the initial investigation indicated that a 2021 Ford Expedition left the road in the outside lane of Barnett Shoals Road and struck two power poles and several trees.

Police said Willock died at the scene. He was 20. LeCroy, who was driving, was transported to a local hospital by ambulance and died as a result of her injuries. A 21-year-old male passenger sustained minor injuries, and a 26-year-old female passenger sustained serious injuries.

Sources told ESPN on Sunday that junior offensive lineman Warren McClendon was also involved in the crash and is in stable condition. McClendon, from Brunswick, Georgia, announced on Saturday that he is entering the NFL draft. A 6-foot-4, 300-pound offensive tackle, McClendon started 13 games for the Bulldogs this past season.

The wreck came hours after the Bulldogs celebrated winning back-to-back national championships with a parade and ceremony at Sanford Stadium. Georgia defeated TCU 65-7 in the College Football Playoff National Championship in Los Angeles on Monday night.

"The UGA Athletic Association will work with our medical team as well as our mental health and performance personnel to make sure we are providing the best support possible for our staff and student-athletes who are processing this grief," the university said in a statement. "We can provide no further comment at this time but ask that everyone continue to keep those involved in your prayers."

The 6-foot-7, 335-pound Willock played in all 15 games for the Bulldogs this past season, including starts at right guard in victories against Tennessee and Kentucky. He was ranked the No. 39 guard prospect in the country and No. 17 prospect in New Jersey by ESPN Recruiting as a senior at Paramus Catholic High School in 2020.

According to LeCroy's LinkedIn account, she had worked as a recruiting analyst at Georgia since May 2021. She had previously worked as a learning specialist and sports marketing promotions intern for the athletic association. A native of Toccoa, Georgia, LeCroy had received a bachelor's degree and master's degree in sports management and policy from UGA, according to her LinkedIn account.

What is Kirby Smart going to do when the dwags are consensus preseason #1 and the massive favorite to win it all again? His whole psyops campaign last year was “no one thinks we’re any good.” They were never ranked worse than 3rd.

They have an easy schedule with Florida and Tennessee as the toughest games and calling Florida a tough game might be stretching it based on their performance this year if it carries over to next.    It's going to be hard to do the psyops next year or even attempt it unless they have a close shave in one of those cupcake games or early non conference games like against South Carolina or Auburn.

So the staffer was driving and Highway Patrol said speed was main factor in the accident.  These schools make 10's of millions of dollars.  Why isn't it against policy for any staffer to be driving players around - and especially at 2:45AM.  I smell a lawsuit - and honestly it may lead to changes for the better.  RIP

They will be. I was listening to ESPNU yesterday and their simulator/predictor has Georgia at a 90+% to win each matchup except TN where it is still at 65%.

Yeah, now that its a couple of weeks in the past you can see UGA starting to cover their ass. And you know that lawsuit is coming from the families of the two people who died.

"The car driven in the accident was one of several vehicles leased by our athletic department for use during recruiting activities only," the athletic association said in Saturday's statement.

"Policies and expectations that were well understood by athletics staff dictated that such rental vehicles were to be turned in at the immediate conclusion of recruiting duties. Personal use was strictly prohibited. Therefore, the continued use of the leased car by our staff members after their recruiting duties ended earlier that evening was unauthorized."

How many times are we going to see this strategy repeat?

Young somewhat attractive "staffer" things happen.

- Oklahoma State "The Cowgirls" recruiting staff set up to have sex with recruits on visit

- LSU "gangbang special" pretty sure she was on the recruiting staff just having meat parties with players and staff

- Texas "Major Applewhite's below average side piece" she wasn't part of the recruiting staff.

- Arkansas "motorcycle rides" Petrino's boner assistant

- Georgia "strip club shenanigans"

It seems like having a young semi attractive impressionable young lady around 85+ testosterone filled young men some shit is gonna happen.

DALLAS — Stetson Bennett, the Georgia quarterback who just led the Bulldogs to a second straight national championship, was arrested on a charge of public intoxication early Sunday morning in Dallas, police confirmed to WFAA.

The arrest happened around 6 a.m. Sunday in the 1600 block of Tribeca Way in Old East Dallas, according to police.

Officers responded to reports of a man banging on doors in the area, police said.

When the officers arrived, they found Bennett "and determined he was intoxicated," a police news release said.

The release did not say if Bennett was the man reportedly banging on doors, and it did not say where, specifically, they located him.

Bennett, 25, was arrested and taken to a city detention center. It was unclear when he was being released Sunday.

More information about his arrest was not released.
