It's in a town that has yet to rename itself something other than "Lynchburg"

To be fair, their namesake got it right "John Lynch freed his own slaves during his lifetime and consistently supported the antislavery movement."

While he predated them all at RapeyU, Dave Bliss is available after being let go from his job at Calvary in Vegas. What is it with these people and "Christian" schools?

Optimistically: Real belief in the spirit of Christian forgiveness and redemption

Pessimistically: Siege mentality that "the media's out to get these good Christian boys!" and a cynical knowledge that religion is a handy smokescreen for ambition

I accept that dichotomy.  I also think it's not hard to tell which one motivates Hugh Freeze.

O/U on how many seasons before the NCAA inquiry.

Go.

3. Gotta mysteriously get in some Top 25 recruiting classes to a brand new FBS school that can't even get a conference invite before the NCAA starts sniffing around.

Unless Nutt gets pissed off again and starts sending his own PIs, again, then it could be quicker.

Wonder if he has a Liberty University-issued cell phone or laptop?

I wouldn't be surprised by anything that goes on at Liberty U. It's come out recently that Falwell Jr and some ex-pool attendant (not Hamm) are in business together running a gay hostel in Miami.

If you are ever president. Make sure all kids learn. How to properly form a sentence.

You even split an infinitive to drive it home!

Liberty's Hugh Freeze recovering from surgery for potentially life-threatening staph infection

Liberty coach Hugh Freeze had surgery on Friday to address a potentially life-threatening strand of staph infection, according to ESPN. The infection came after severe back spasms forced him to miss nearly one week of fall camp.

"The doctors told me if it had been another 24 hours, that strand of bacteria could have gotten to my heart and that I would have been fighting for my life," Freeze told ESPN. "It's the way God works because there's no doubt that bacteria would have killed me if [Liberty] president [Jerry] Falwell wasn't so quick to make sure we got the right people involved."

This part is just bizarre:

According to ESPN, Falwell reached out to famed neurosurgeon and U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson, who referred the case to Liberty professor Anthony Nobles. They then brought in spinal surgeon Dr. Dilan Ellegala from Arizona. Freeze was transported from Lynchburg, Virginia, to the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville for the surgery.

Falwell goes to the crackpot HUD sec, who shrugs and says talk to the dude at your own school dipshit. Luckily for Freeze that guy was capable of googling the names of spinal surgeons. I guess it's just the way god works, like Freeze says.

The whole thing sounds odd. He might have had discitis with a big abscess (spine infection) that was thought for a while to be run of the mill back pain. The verbiage about how it "could have gone to his heart" is boilerplate; any infection could spread to the heart, but it sounds like this one did not. It is also possible to have back pain, "self medicate," and get infection at the "treatment" site. That is actually a more common problem, but not one you want to accuse someone of having without some evidence.

Or he could have had an untreated scorching sexually transmitted infection he picked up from some truck stop whore he found online.

I'm with you.  I think he's taking the lie to 11 and working the pitiful patient angle.
