Since you’ve been there, what consists of the Speakeasy Experience?

It's the whole nine yards.  Shave, skin conditioning,  hot and cold towels, then a straight razor shave.

That’s pretty much what we’re looking for. Thanks for the rec.

Can’t imagine what they charge for ammo for the machine guns and Barrett. I used to go to the ranges to shoot exotic guns but back then it was a cheap diversion. Please report back; I’m headed to Vegas sometime this fall.

Well I made it back alive, fairly certain I'm on several watchlists and my liver is reminding me I'm not 30 anymore (but the strippers stay the same age). I forgot what a beating flying out of DAL is. The TSA line was brutal. The Parking Spot shuttle took almost an hour after we landed.

But now for the fun stuff. Beatles: Love was incredible. Would it be wrong to say I loved it? Ron White was great as usual. He mixed in some classics with new stuff and said this would be his last tour. The dude has aged massively with long snow white hair and beard.

Ate dinner at The Golden Steer and it did not disappoint with the ambiance and impeccable service. I ordered the surf & turf. The lobster was tasty, but a little chewy. The ribeye... the fucking ribeye. It was beautiful. 2 inches thick, perfectly cooked and a strip of gristle running right down damn the center. I tried to blame it on a dull steak knife, but the next knife was no better. This beautiful hunk of dead cow was tougher than Chuck Norris. It just rolled under the knife. I ate less than a third of it and wiped out everything else. The meal was over 2 bills.

Moving on I made a killing after wandering in to El Cortez to piss and wound up in a crap game with TJ Miller. That made me end up only being down $60 when I got home. So all in all, not a bad trip.

FYI they have a huge remodeling of the vintage rooms at El Cortez. Should look pretty cool when they're done.

At those prices the grill man should have seen that gristle band and throwers it in the hamburger bucket. Did you complain to the waiter? I haven’t eaten at Golden Steer in 20 years but it’s never been my favorite.

He knew I wasn't happy, but other than asking for a second knife because "it has to be the knife, you wouldn't serve a steak this tough" and then leaving most of it... no. If I had been local I'd definite have taken it home because the flavor was excellent.

I’m staying at Encore in 3 weeks. Stayed at Wynn/Encore many times so I’m familiar with their stuff.

We have dinner reservations at Sinatra the first night and CATCH (Aria) the second night. I’ve had both before and enjoyed both. Our friends who are going are less seasoned Vegas visitors have not eaten at either.

Any compelling reason to switch either of these reservations to somewhere else? We aren’t afraid to spend money on food, just like a good vibe and a good meal. I just booked these because I’m familiar with them.

I took my wife and a recently divorced friend of hers to Nobu in Houston about 3-4 months after it opened a few years ago. We told the waiter to bring us whatever he thought would work and ordered a bunch of wine ($100-$150/bottle) and cocktails.

Figured it would be $1000-$1200. Bill came in right below $2000. Holy fuck. I like to do it up and all, but that shit blew my mind. Could have had the same experience at Uchi for half the price. Anyway, I can’t imagine the Vegas set up and pricing.

Regarding Vegas right now, we’re looking at flights on United for June. Normally these are $300-$450. Well, inflation is fucking real. For non-ridiculous times, prices are around $1000. Dang man, dang. Going anyway but fuck.

2k for 3 people? Fuck. I thought Uchiko was expensive and we spent 1300-1400.

How brutal are we talking about? I’m flying out of DAL in 3 weeks. I have Precheck.

It  shouldn't be too bad with precheck. I was with the poor. That said  it was at least 3 times longer than it's ever taken me at DFW.

Nobu can obviously get a little silly on the pricing. Long time ago I would eat there every trip at the Hard Rock and it didn’t seem too extreme. By the time they opened one in Dallas, I noticed that you could spend big bucks for a meal there and the quality didn’t seem worth it compared to other places. Not a bad spot for a corporate card dinner.

Airfares are definitely way up for this summer and the hotel rates too. The convention calendar is slowly starting back up and that will boost the mid-week rates at times also.

I went to Catch in Jan. Great selection of sushi, seafood, wagyu etc. Everything was great. Good ambiance but definitely loud.

Still haven’t really summed everything up, but guess my trip between gambling, food, weed and the Gucci store was at least -12k. Womp womp womp.

Had fun though, but I’m too old to go hard in the paint for 3 nights in a row, and crashed at a pretty embarrassing time on our last night.

Omakase for 3 guys who like to eat, plus all the sake.

Checks out. Never done the omakase - guessing you can rack it up pretty good. Feel like I've ate and drank well there for like $100 per before tip. That was a few years ago though.

On day 4

Stayed at the Virgin.  Lots of people staying here but the casino part is always just empty as balls (compared to Venetian or others).

Watched Atomic Saloon.  I recommend it, and it’s not for the ultra conservative person who thinks it’s just an old western musical for 1.5 hours.  It’d definitely not that.

Also, I hope MGM doesn’t ruin the Cosmopolitan in the takeover.

Anyone been in any of the Jose Andres joints? Apparently he has atleast 3 now in LV

No, but I will the next time I’m in Vegas, because that man is a fucking badass that I would support even if the food sucked, and I’m guessing it doesn’t suck.

And theyre all completely different concepts and pricepoints, and untypical, so its worth a shot.

1 is like a galician steakhouse serving unusual cuts, 1 is simultaneously a chinese-spanish place, etc.

setting up my hit list when visiting family.

Nice to hear about the different price points, I just assumed they all by very spendy.

Been to Jaleo many times but not since the pandemic. Ideally suited for a group dinner with smaller shared plates. Always loved it. Think we had one report on here of someone who claimed the quality had dropped off recently.

We’ve had many who dined at the high end E and loved it. I haven’t been. I’ve done China Poblano once or twice and it’s a fun casual option if the menu suits your taste.
