Fuck that.  If I have those 8’s against a dealer 10, I’m surrendering that fucker.

What are you, French?

It's called gambling for a reason. Never surrender. WOLVERINES!

Insurance is also a sucker bet.

You are correct about insurance.  Dead-ass wring about surrender though.  I mean, obviously some hands, when rated against a dealer’s up card, calculate to a loss probability of more than 50%.  Giving up half of the bet in those hands is a no brainer.

ETA:  Strictly by math, surrendering on the 8’s is not the play, so I stand corrected.

Don't have a specific restaurant rec, and not sure where you are staying, but there is a train that goes from the Crystal Shops (connected to Cosmo and Aria) straight to Monte Carlo which is right next to T-Mobile.  You could easily eat anywhere at Aria or Cosmo and take train there.  Getting a cab outside T Mobile is a mess.  I don't have any experience with Aria restaurants but I like all of the Cosmo restaurants.

STK - Steak
Scarpetta - Italian
Milos - Seafood
Momofuku - Not sure how to classify it but probably my favorite restaurant there
Beauty & Essex - Fun tapas type place

Going to see Justin Timberlake at T-mobile next Saturday with the wife. Where should we eat dinner before? Any recs?

Bardot Brasserie at the Aria is solid for a nice dinner. Been there at least 3x and nothing but excellent food and service each time. It’s right in the middle of casual and formal.

fuck the strip and their ridiculous resort fees.

fuck planet hollywood and venetian for adding the triple zero in roulette.  play at the cromwell where there is single zero roulette game offered there (although higher min bet at $25).

The trends have been in place for a little while now on the strip. Gaming rules are favoring the house more and more, and fees on the strip are sliding up up up (parking, resort etc). The big strip properties are getting more revenue (as a percentage overall) from convention business. The amount of deals and free shit is drying up, unless you are a whale or frequent gambling guest.

You got that right.  I used to $100 handshake my way into some amazing shit at the Wynn/Encore.  Jumping lines at clubs, best tables at restaurants, best cabanas at the pool, room upgrades, etc.  Last couple times I’ve been...can’t get shit.

Tried to get the house Rolls to run us to the Cosmo one night.  Fairly slow night and there were like 5 of them just sitting there outside the Tower Suites (where we were staying) doing nothing.  After being told no a few times, I straight up told the guy “name your price” as I’m thumbing through a wad of hundreds.  Answer...”nope can’t do it”.  Pretty much told me that unless you’re a whale, there is no price.

Gearing up for a Bachelor party in Vegas later this summer. I haven't been in a while so looking for advice. What's the right pool parties and clubs these days? Wet Republic still hot?

Encore @ Wynn and Drai's Beach Club are excellent. Marquee Day Club has peaked and now on the downswing. Wet Republic is still around, although I've not been in many years.

Cromwell has 100x odds on craps and decent video poker if you're into that kind of thing.

They also have a sportsbook where you don't have to pay $50 to reserve a seat on a football weekend. Like, you can go in there, sit down, and watch the game.

I think Cromwell is Caesars' experiment in a casino gambling experience that doesn't entirely suck.

China Poblano at the Cosmo is also excellent.

It’s not the worlds best, but the wife and I ate at Gordon Ramsay Steak at Paris last time we were in Vegas and the Beef Wellington was fucking incredible along with the lobster risotto.

Oh believe me, you'd hear screaming in the kitchen if it wasn't sent out fucking incredible ;)

Fuck staying at the strip.  I have my fun in downtown gambling and travel to the strip for the shows.

Downtown Vegas sucks. Low ceilings with lots of smoke, crowds of people, bad dealers, busted cocktail waitresses with slow drink service. No thanks. I gamble for fun and that isn’t fun. I’d rather go to Tahoe than Fremont Street.

Thinking of staying at the “D” on Fremont. I can get two king rooms over three nights for $118 total plus resort fee. Anyone have any experience staying there? It doesn’t seem excessively shitty.

We had a corner suite there before and it was nice.  My only complaint about the room was it seemed like the walls were pretty thin and you could hear the people in the next room talking.  And watching people try to figure out the elevators there is fun.

Never stayed there but have played craps there - it's relatively modern now post-renovations. Used to be shitty ass Fitzgerald's. The Nugget is the better property downtown but D is ok.

Yeah, the Fitz was a dump. But, I am willing to take a risk on the renovated facility. Being the cheap SOB I am, the idea of getting two rooms and a rental car for less money than one room at a low level resort (looking at you Excalibur) is appealing.

It’s so cold in the D.
