Finally been digging deeper into the Tonex pedal. Bought an audio interface, studio monitors, and have everything running through my Mac Mini. I'm impressed. I haven't been plugging into my amps at all.

I’m a big Tonex fan and it’s become my main source for amp sounds live and recording.  It’s a hell of a lot easier carrying this around than the same pedalboard minus one micro pedal and plus 78744588 lbs Vox AC30.

You play mostly solo through a PA right?

I'm trying to imagine this in a band set up.

I play solo, as a duo with a drummer, and trio with a drummer and bassist.  I sit in some with bands, too.

I typically plug direct from pedalboard to PA.  For times when I can't or don't want to take the PA because its overkill for the scope of the venue, I take this along (14.76" D x 20.67" W x 13.58" H and  <20lbs).

And how do you hear yourself in all that?  In ear monitors?

I typically don't need additional monitoring.  The few times I have, it was a big enough venue with a fancy enough PA that they could route my PA signal to a personal stage monitor at my feet.  I have not needed to, but I could go from my pedalboard to that cool music thingamajig and from there out to PA and monitor myself through it while the mix is sent from PA to FOH.

All the guitar sounds in these two recordings are made using a Tonex pedal + analog dirt pedals up front.  Modulation, delay and reverb provided in DAW after tracking.  To my ear, the Tonex is objectively very good at producing amp+cablike tones.  The biggest thing is that it responds like a tube amp to the dirt pedals I have in front of it and to my playing.  I have no idea if my Vox AC30 Tonex capture is 100% dead on accurate with a real 1963 Vox AC30, but I do know that I personally can't tell that I am not playing a decent tube amp.

My next goal with the Tonex is to do some amp captures.

That's cool, let me know how it goes and how easy it is.  My brother still has a house full of nice amps, and I've been thinking I ought to get the capture hardware to see if I can capture them all.

Seems easy enough. Just buy the Tonex capture box, and then my understanding is a recorded guitar signal is fed through your amp, capturing the tone. No need for microphones. Just another $250 for the capture box. haha.

Yeah, I just know some captures are better than others, so I think there is something more than just plug-in and capture.

Considering a pedal for guitar harmonizations.  Think Allman Brothers “Blue Sky”, “Hotel California” or anything by Wishbone Ash.  Anyone have any experience with these or something else that gives you good harmonizations live?
