copy the tweet url through the numbers and then paste in.  it'll auto embed if it can.  the format needs to be twitter.com / username / status / 9817234987389571.  if it's in any other format like twitter.com / i / web / status / 9734594375234 this board is unable to embed it.

I did it right, but still won't load up.

Got an answer from the forum software peeps after doing a bunch of troubleshooting myself.

Unfortunately, Facebook (who also own Instagram) have removed the oEmbed points as we had them previously. As part of their Graph v8 changes (https://developers.facebook.com/docs/graph-api/changelog/version8.0#social-plugins and https://developers.facebook.com/docs/instagram/oembed/) they deprecated the old oEmbed endpoints and now require that you create an application with Facebook and use a new endpoint. It’s something we’re going to look into, but we had no choice but to disable the existing oEmbed methods while we work on that.

How do you post a pic with “hidden comments?”

OK, found that out....now what is the best link on imgur to use? the BB link that starts img or url?

Thanks!

imgur does not work and hasn't since the first week.  week got blacklisted by them for reasons.

either host directly here or use something like imgbb.  you can paste in the bbcode link and the board will figure it out i.e. [ img ] yourlinkwithnospaces [ /img ] or just the link itself http :// yourlinkwithnospaces

i like to use twitter for video hosting because it fixes the width at fairly small, hosting on the board will take up the whole width of the window.

in any reply area you have a "drag files here to attach or choose files" portion. just click that and it'll open up your file explorer to put it up.

Otherwise you have to download the photo to your device and upload it to surly. Links from google photos don't work as direct embeds unfortunately

Yeah, I don’t have a “drag files here to attach...” in my my reply area. Just the b,i, u, emoji,  link, gif, eye and quote.
On the bottom, just the insert image from URL.
Am I doing something wrong?
Most likely, as I have the old.
