The guy from Blue Mountain (who also probably belongs in this thread).  This album is just kick ass boogie rock and roll.

I always wondered what happened to him and Laurie Stirratt.  Never knew he had all of these solo albums.  Thanks.

I'm not totally up on all of his work, but I've worn the shit out of this and Blue Mountain's "Dog Days".

FYI, wikipedia (the world's most accurate source of information) has this to say of Laurie:

"Stirratt is also the current owner/chef of Tallulah's Kitchen in Oxford, MS where she serves up southern food as well as Cajun."

I also had no idea she was John Stirratt's (Wilco) twin.

So, when John  and Laurie Stirratt were in the Hilltops, they used to play in Birmingham when I lived there.  They would crash at my buddy's house after the shows.  Really cool folks.  Then, when John and Pat Sansone were doing The Autumn Defense, they recorded their second album, "Circles" on the friend's label, called Arena Rock Recording Co.   Love that feel of that record.

I used to spend three weeks a month in Mississippi and at some point in 2003 found out about Blue Mountain and Cary and would go see him in Hattiesburg pretty often at a place called the Thirsty Hippo. One of those nights Lucero was also playing and that was my introduction to them. I got to see Isbell there on his first tour after DBT with about 10 other people who were mostly ignoring him.

Pretty much the only perks of spending years over there.

Wilco isn't underrated or ignored, but this album always gets glossed over when people talk about Wilco.  Most days, it's my favorite album of theirs (with A Ghost Is Born a close second - I realize that doesn't make sense).  "Box Full of Letters", "I Must Be High", "Casino Queen", "Passenger Side", and "Too Far Apart" are staggeringly good songs.  Brian Henneman of the Bottle Rockets is all over this album, and fucking smokes.

Hell yes.

This is also one of the all-time great "road trip" or "driving with the windows down" albums.

I was also going to recommend the Middle Brother Album. 3 dudes with uniquely great voices.

These probably aren’t as underrated as far as Texas goes but, I feel anytime I can mention them I should because he deserves it.

Some of the others are maybe underrated to me because I’m 30 and I don’t know exactly how they were received when released.

I don't know that I'd call Prine's debut underrated.

But, I could see where among your specific cohort it probably is for sure.

I would say its underrated among any cohort that does not recognize it as one of the (if not the) finest singer-songwriter album ever made.  But thats just me.

And I'm guessing 30 year olds (I'm only 33 so I can't point any fingers) are probably that cohort.

I think the greater musical community recognizes its greatness.

The best Def Leppard album is largely forgotten and under appreciated because of Pyromania and the pile of garbage that came after. At one point in their early career they were a solid part of the Second Wave of British Heavy Metal.

Thread needs some desert/stoner rock: I submit Fu Manchu's King of the Road.
The title track, No Dice, Over the Edge, Boogie Van, Blue Tile Fever - top to bottom its a fantastic rock album.

Great album. Hard to choose a favorite between KotR, in search of, and the action is go.

But I did post some stoner rock rock up thread.

Above by Mad Season is one of the best side project albums of all time.

I'd put this album in my top 10 grunge albums period. Would be my answer to this thread as well. Artificial Red gets the volume cranked up every time.

I'm still waiting for these fuckers to actually play this album full in concert. I saw them once, never again. they play BOTH/Switch and sometimes Let It Go but thats about it.  I'd pay double the going rate to see them play this and Pyromania back to back.

its easily their best album and they totally ignore it in concert.
