Given that insanity is generally described as “doing the same thing and expecting a different result” and what UT has done in the last decade, sanity is not a trait of a UT fan. Get out of here.
What I'm getting from this is Urban/the family are in Austin grabbing dinner. There is a UT announcement. Lots of celebrating with the kids. Kirk and the couch burners in tears.
My guess is that they heard from a family member or close friend that Urban is worried about health/Shelley or daughters not on board/Fox will give him more money etc. Which, to my understanding, was all true at some point or another. But, we’ve seen that this has trended positively for Texas and Texans7 on 247 has been spot on so far until the “verbal commitment” comment. His latest schtick is that everything is good, but that most reporters etc are 1-2 days behind on the news cycle. If that’s the case, makes perfect sense that Kirk/OSU people are hearing negative stuff because that’s also what we were hearing 1-2 days ago from the Texas side.
This is my 2 cents of what’s going on - so take with that in mind.
The few UT BMDs I know in the NYC finance crowd have been really tight lipped about everything (and I’m very young in comparison so they probably are not too keen on sharing with some rando alum fresh out of school). The one that I do know well (lady who is in upper management at the hedge fund I work at) has only said that “things are trending a lot better” but nothing on a “verbal commitment”.
From the Buckeye Scoop Forum:
From what they're saying, seems like the "final answer" is Kirk's final view on the situation, not necessarily Urban's answer. I'm gonna reply to him to make sure I'm interpreting it correctly but that's what it seems like.

Alright everyone, let's relax... I got the sub for Buckeye Scoop so I will post if they put up an update. Somehow I doubt this would be how such news would break.
Been a lurker since I was still in school at UT, now graduated, moved to NYC, and a couple years into working. I work at a hedge fund doing equity research work and we do some pretty intense work digging through public records. Wanted to make my first post just to say y’all did it. Y’all did it, you glorious bastards. I’ve never seen such beautiful sleuthing until now.
