If you study cults at the college level in the United States, then Mormonism is usually one of the main topics for the semester. Cult has a negative connotation, but it really just means a group of people that live outside of the norms of society especially religiously.

Lifeguard Impaled by Beach Umbrella
Summarize
June 26, 2025 by David Jones
A lifeguard at the Jersey Shore suffered a severe injury when she was impaled by a beach umbrella, necessitating its removal by sawing it into smaller pieces before she could be transported to a hospital, according to local authorities. The incident occurred around 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday at Asbury Park’s 3rd Avenue Beach, when the lifeguard was impaled by an approximately six-foot-long umbrella.
The umbrella penetrated her body under her left shoulder and exited through her back, according to Asbury Park Fire Chief Kevin Keddy. The umbrella was protruding about a foot from her body, he added, describing the severity of the injury.
Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. One theory being considered is that the lifeguard may have been attempting to retrieve an umbrella that was being blown away by the wind, and subsequently fell onto the stake.
Emergency responders had to resort to using a bandsaw to remove the stake from the woman’s body in order to fit her into an ambulance. The stake was sawed off from both the front and the back to make it more manageable.
“We had to saw off the stake from the front and the back to make it more manageable. We bandaged her up and transported her to the hospital,” Keddy said. Despite the severity of her injuries, the lifeguard remained conscious and alert throughout the ordeal.
