This. It seems inevitable that we are going to be involved in a broader shooting war with Russia in the near future. We best get fucking ready.
Or a cyber conflict that cascades out of control.

NS2 is actually a restrained version of what the Germans would REALLY like to have.
Could you explain what that would look like. The full blown version that the Germans would like to have.

It's just geography. Russia has large petroleum deposits. Central Europe has none....
Appreciate the insight from you and others.

So a few quick counter-/additional points:
But again, . . . it really doesn't matter. Because Germany fundamentally does not have freedom of movement. Germany is completely beholden to Russia for a supply of raw materials to fuel its economy, and that's not changing. So Germany has no ability to change that, and hence no ability to influence foreign affairs vis-a-vis Russia (or, by extension, China).
Always enjoy your takes and the long view of history that you provide. Sorry if already beaten to death, but what is your view of why Germany has allowed itself to be hemmed in by their reliance on Russian raw materials? I mean, the Germans are often regarded as pretty savvy in technical areas, so it's perplexing to the casual observer why they are where they are. I'm sure there are geographic and long-simmering political realities of which I'm just not aware.

I’m watching Terms of Endearment right now. My wife has somehow never seen it. Yet another jewel in Queen Winger’s crown. She had a very nice run in the 80’s.

I have 4 total drums. Three of them are frozen to the ground right now because you know, winter. The fourth is loaded into the truck and filled at a gas station. There used to be a bulk plant in Fairbanks where you could get gas for generator use without the road tax, but a major snowstorm collapsed the roof and they've yet to rebuild. Anyway I use a hand cranked transfer pump to pump the fuel out of the drum in the truck to the empty one on the ground. The same transfer pump in used to fill up 5 gallon cans for use in the generator or to fill up the wheeler or snow machine or our personal rig directly. I replaced the hose that came with it, about 8 feet I think, with a 25 foot arctic grade hose. I rotate which drum I'm pulling from so the gas doesn't go bad, but when one is empty I immediately fill it.
How much gas do you go through in a heavy month where you running snow machine, generators, etc.?

By off the grid I mean for our energy needs. We don't have electricity or indoor plumbing, but we can stream movies and have internet access at the cabin. There is a cell tower about 4 miles from us.
We have 2 generators. A Honda 2200 for the small stuff. A 3500 for power tools and the meat grinder. We also have 5 battery packs I take to work on a rotation to charge.
I've wondered how often you have to get gas if you depend to an extent on generators. Where do you store it?

Think of a stalagmite of shit rising up from the bottom. We have a dedicated stick we use to knock it down when it gets too close to the seat.
I believe one Shaggy wife had pretty good success solving this problem with a plastic knife.

There's some value in locking up his co-conspirators. Not much, but some.
Feels like it will just serve to weed out the 3 stars so that Trump and co. can recruit 4 and 5 star fascists for the next administration.

As I watched that live, I was surprised that the cop didn't start shooting at the crowd chasing him up the stairs. I don't know what he knew as far as the location of Pence.

Trump sent a mob to attack the capitol in order to prevent the counting of electoral votes. If he had succeeded in killing Mike pence he would have argued there was no electoral vote since the Vice President hadn’t counted them and therefore no succession that made Biden the president. He would have seized voting machines, declared martial law and announced that he had discovered fraud in the election and declared himself to still be the president. If he had succeeded in killing Pence we would all be turbofucked.
Never fear, the FBI on its own had decided to post special forces within the Capitol, so it's all good. /s

Yep. The game is no longer policy debate...
Edit to add: It increasingly looks like it will come down to where the Army stands. We'll need our own Ataturk.
How do you see this playing out (worst case)? How does Trump throttle any dissenters in the military?

SO first redundant use of the letter (after the green one if placed correctly) will yield yellow? Makes sense. In the bizarre instance you use it three times, appears to be blacked/purpled. Makes sense. Coulda figured it out tomorrow with a word try but I like this thread for strategy but avoid it and google for actual cheating. Plus I'm playing it against an Armenian arms dealer for one of my toes, so honor is on the line.
Yes. The last two D's are not in the word in this example.

I meant I never put a word in before with the same letter twice, in any order. Like I've never entered "BELLS." I had it in my head that there were no multiple appearances of the same letter in the final word. So I never bothered entering multiple appearances of the same letter in my 6 word tries. But if I entered "BELLS" and the correct word was "BELTS"...would the first "L" show up as green and the second "L" show up as yellow or black? Does that make sense? I know I'm asking this confoundedly.
Green = correct. Yellow = in word but not in correct position. Purple = not in word.
The purple D boxes tell you that there is not a second D in the word.
Answer is drink. https://www.devangthakkar.com/wordle_archive/

Spoiler -
I think some of the cast members read the speculation and fan art that's on there. Pretty funny.
The mods on that sub have tightened up the rules to try to prevent spoilers, but the show does drop on Amazon Prime at midnight. So if you browse the reddit between midnight and tomorrow night (and don't watch it tonight), be aware that spoilers do slip through in some of the posts.

I'm very curious as to the extent of the mystical/supernatural element in this show. Both of those were things Lottie "saw", and of course there was the whole seance scene, with the weird symbols on the cabin floor. And then the compass freaking out by the red river. And Tai's creepy-ass sleepwalking behavior. The show needs to decide how much of a Lost element they want to run with, but I'm here for it.
The yellowjackets subreddit is pretty good for endless details and theories. https://www.reddit.com/r/Yellowjackets/

I liked that character as a kid. I wonder how many people remember that series. I was thinking it ran for more than 1 season, but wiki says it only got 5 episodes after his introduction on the two-hour Rockford episode.
