I froze my credit with all three reporting agencies a few years ago.

Since I don't need any more credit cards, and don't plan applying for any loans in the near future, it's worked for me.

Love this advice. Superior to any monitoring service.

Even if you need to thaw it for someone authorized to run your credit, it takes 5 minutes so long as you have your password and know which agency.

  2. It's nice to have live races available both for the Saturday sprint and Sunday full race this season... if you don't mind the early European start times. TrueTV.

Intriguing season so far with Martin, FBAG, and MM, etc. all in the hunt. Have to think MM is the favorite for Austin in a couple of weeks.

  3. I love the fact that the Voyager 2 happened to take advantage of the planetary alignment that happens once every 175 years in order to visit the 4 gas giants.

That these craft left before I was born, I can remember the Neptune flyby, and that one is still communicating is just wild.

Unmanned probes are so much better bang for buck than manned programs.

There are free Android apps that will play youtube audio-only that bypass the youtube preroll ads and VOD ads, and yes, they even play *live* youtube feeds.

If you have an iPhone, you'd have to pay either way, either for yt-premium or pay for an app that does the same things.

Good point on the options. Brave Browser for IOS will continue to play youtube audio in the background or with the screen off (may require a few tweaks in settings).

    Interesting

I’ll check it out for sure. BK making moves. An audio-only live feed would help.

My suggestion would be to also include football postgames and/or Sunday recaps. I think there is demand for reaction and analysis before Monday morning. Think Ward and Ed post game and Bucky/Lunchbox Sunday reviews.

    "just announced"

it took him upwards of 25 minutes of explanation to refuse to give any other details about anyone else... before finally giving his own detail (which was obvious based on him being the voice of the horns and another station taking those rights).

at this point, sounds like theres gonna be a bloodletting.   I'm going to guess Harge, Zay, & Ward are gone for sure.  probably leaving a morning and afternoon local show.

Erin and Bucky ( yeah I think hes staying) and Chad & Rob in the afternoon.

I could see an argument for Zay to be kept instead of Chad.   but neither excite me.

Ward? Isn't he doing his own thing and not part of The Horn?

I came into this thread specifically for the "Well... you look at 'team over there and it's just about X" and nothing. I need my Herman table setting.. Miss that.

Prime example - "You look at Oklahoma State over there and it's just all about the tradition of Mike Gundy still being business in the front and party in the back. "

I believe that was Mr. Strong's insightful table setting technique.

  8. Lots of good stuff out there that shows that 16bit CD quality meets or exceeds the human limit of hearing in terms of frequency and dynamic range. Some good videos with demonstrations by Monte Montgomery who came up with the ogg vorbis format.

I read that Richard Castellano refused to play Clemenza in II because the original script had him betraying Michael, which Castellano was adamant the character wouldn’t do. So Coppola killed him offscreen and brought in the great Michael Gazzo, a playwright, to play Frank Pentangeli

As I recall, he wanted a high salary + his wife to be in it.

The hardest part on developing a nuclear weapon is getting the enriched plutonium.  There's an old saying if you got the plutonium you're 90 percent there on a nuclear weapon.  The rest of that 10 percent is a few calculations that a dude could do and spec the delivery system.

Also quite difficult is the explosive lensing to compress the sub-critical plutonium in a perfect sphere pattern to detonate. A lot of the Manhattan project work was around this and the Trinity test was to see if this worked (Fat man bomb type). The highly enriched uranium 235 (Little Boy) was far more crude and never tested. They knew it would work.

Unless something has changed, alumni of UT get unlimited google drive space. Just have to go set up a UT email address and what not. It doesn’t have all the features of a paid account, but for storage, it’s great.

Someone (maybe you!) told me about this on the old site. Game changer. 2TB and counting.

I actually like Chad and Trey better than Rod and KD at this point. I get that Babers is an All-American Longhorn and so a lot of folks here are going to be soft on him but he's just objectively bad on the radio for a multitude of reasons. Namely that he thinks he's smarter and more insightful than he actually is and talks twice as much as he needs to. BK was the only thing holding the station together.

Regardless - the whole lineup sucks.

BK moving to Houston radio was a big loss for the Horn.

  13. We got little dips in recessions, but otherwise its tough to see a rapid change when global emissions are still increasing. US and Europe are shrinking in importance, India is following China, and Africa has just begun to increase its energy intensity.
