  1. Hard Hate - great cast (Philip Baker Hall, John C. Reilly, Gwyneth Paltrow and Samuel L. Jackson) - professional gambler takes a loser under his wing.

Crazy- I just rewatched this last night because it was fairly short, and I’d just finished Judas and the Black Messiah. This is such a great film, and you can see PT Anderson’s style taking shape!

  2. Streetlights, Outfit and Goddamn Lonely Love are 3 of my 5 favorite Isbell songs.  The other 2 change.  Great songs

Others change, but Streetlights and GDLL are my top 2. And the last verse of Streetlights might be my favorite overall lyric. Just devastating.

  3. Only thing I use w12 for.
Don’t care for it by itself.

Me, too. I lucked into a 1.75 of W12 a few years back; after a couple of drinks, I used the rest to make PMP. W12 is just too smooth for me.

  4. I paid the $8. Definitely got my money’s worth. I’d say 2 years is sufficient penance for jerking it after asking permission. That hour definitely lifted my pandemic mood.

  5. I like this, though I'd give my left nut to find ER10 for sub $35. I've never paid less than $50, but I still thought it was worth it.
Second the motion to place Buffalo Trace as an Everyday Drinker.

Third the BT as a everyday drinker. Just today I braved the plague to meet a Facebook bourbon group member in a Target parking lot, for BT store picks @35.

  6. Close your eyes and remember this. It won't be back again, it's almost gone.
Even times that don't seem like much will be your only crutch when you're alone.
Time moves slow when you're seventeen and then it picks up steam at twenty-one.
Pretty soon you'll remember when you could remember when you loved someone

  7. Busted out the Alton Brown eggnog I made a few weeks ago.
    Glorious.

I enjoyed some after a year’s aging last weekend. No negative effects, and it was delicious! Alton knows his shit!

  8. I hate DirecTV with the burning anger of a thousand gonorrheas, and I'm looking forward to canceling those fuckers when I move soon, but I don't have the interest, patience, or time to deal with an entirely new patchwork of interfaces, so I was planning on switching to Dish.
I had no real expectations that I wouldn't eventually grow ti hate them too, but this thread doesn't make me too thrilled.

FWIW, I just switched from Directv to Dish after 22 years (wife factors made cutting the cord a no-go.)

Coming from DTV, I’m very impressed with Dish. 16 tuners, 4K 4-screen mode for football games, and Dish Anywhere lets my daughter watch anything live or recorded on her laptop or phone.

  9. I saw AIC in Tulsa on Monday night; terrific show; lead singer sounds a lot like Layne, but it doesn’t feel like he’s trying to do an impression.

Last night was the first show of The Slash/Myles tour. Only one GnR song in the set list: Rocket Queen. I’m going to see Slash next Friday night, but if I had the choice, I’d see AIC again.

  10. Guys, what are the reasons one would want an XL versus an L green egg?
I mainly cook for 6-8 people. Once a year for 12 or so.
Ive read I believe on the old shag thread that the L cooks better?

I’ve cooked on both regularly. In my experience, the large is easier to control. It seems like that particular shape just works better for airflow, etc.

That said, I love my XL because it gives me so much more space when I need it. I’ve done a 14 lb prime rib on XL. Doubt you could do that in a L.

  11. So I am taking my daughter to NYC for her 16th birthday to see "Dear Evan Hansen" at the Music Box Theater on 45th Street in June.  I have been to Europe many times, but weirdly enough, have never been to NYC.  Any suggestions for hotels?  We are probably going for two nights so will have about a day and a half of sightseeing, so I don't know if that would affect the location suggestions.  Not looking to break the bank, but obviously want to stay someplace decent in a decent location.  Pretty open to suggestions.

I really like the Sheraton on 57th, because you’re north of the crowd if you want to head to Central Park, natural history museum, etc., but still close to theater dist/Times Square.
