I think the key is to make a funny movie that's actually about something else. Like how Trading Places is an educational film about investing that also happens to be very funny. Or how Shaun of the Dead follows all of the beats of the standard zombie apocalypse film while spoofing the genre, but also gets back to the roots of the zombie horror -- a satire of consumer culture -- while also being very funny. That's why the action-comedy works so well as a formula; the action movie provides the framework, the comedy provides the façade. There has to be a story there, be it bildungsroman (e.g. American Pie) or hero's journey (Men in Black) or what have ya.

Yes, and it does not really matter what your story is - just make it interesting and able to stand on it's own without the comedy - then layer in great comedy and you have gold.

Hey, we just had a conversation if Harrison Barnes was worth the 4th pick in the draft.... Nothing is out of bounds in this thread.  It's the stupid season.

It's Christmas !   Never mind the cool red fire truck I am going to get, still asking for that jet pack.

Parsons contract isn't that bad and there's only two years left. Next year, it could become an asset as an expriring contract to another team. Plus, who the hell are the Grizzlies gonna sign even if they dumped that money? No big time free agent is going there. Dumping Parson's deal is only valuable if there's someone you need to sign with that money.

Regarding your trade, Parsons and Barnes both have two years left at $24-25 mil. So the Griz would not get any cap relief and would only get Barnes for the #4 pick. That is a god awful trade. Barnes is arguably a net negative when you factor in his contract.

Lol. Barnes might be worth a late first to some teams who have no cap space but need/want to improve, but he's not very good. Pretty much every advanced metric says he's an average to below average player AND he's being paid $25 million per year.

Stop slapping me in the face with logic - I want Doncic and Porter Jr !   Now

As a Mavs fan I wouldn’t do that trade. Giving up Barnes and 5 is too much.

You could likely get 4 + Parson's Contract for Barnes      Doncic 4, Porter Jr 5

  5. You have to add Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Wilt Chamberlain into this discussion.

KAJ - Career 25 ppg  11 rpg, 20 year career, all time scoring champ, 6 times mvp

Wilt - Career 30 ppg 22 rpg, all time career rebounding leader, 14 yr career, 4 MVPs

On the PER rating Wilt has the best two seasons ever recorded by a player.

I give MJ the slight nod over LBJ for the reason as stated above, MJ's floor was much higher - the ceilings are comparable

For old times’ sake and the lulz, here’s a note from the Tweeterplex by everyone’s favorite moonshine aggy, the Dude of West Virginia:

“New OU prez is pro Big 12, bullish on expansion and close ties to Colorado. Big 12 set to put the full press on easterly Pac 12 schools for Membership.  Colorado, Arz., Arz State & a surprise BYU.”

He also said T3 money would keep B12 teams away from Pac.
