On a serious note, yes to Zingerman's.
They opened a Buddy's Pizza in AA I think last summer. If you've never been, it's a must.
There is a Jolly Pumpkin brewery that's decent.
For an upscale night time lounge experience check out Rick's American Cafe.
I assume you suggested Ricks as a joke and no one noticed, but the one time I went there it was better than my expectations. My wife did get a cap knocked off her tooth though... -
Purchased my first mechanical watch, a Sinn 104. My Tissot PR50 served me well for 12 years, but it was time for an upgrade.
So far keeping great time, only a few seconds off per day.
This thread was a great resource looking for something I liked, thanks for all the posts.- 8

This is not a bad idea. I've never been to Estes in the winter, but I can't imagine there will be that much to do unless you maybe go snowmobiling into RMNP.
RMNP is absolutely open in the winter, unless you want to drive over the pass. Plenty of hiking available, but snowshoes or traction footwear is recommended.
If you haven’t hiked to Dream Lake, it’s a great one for first timers.

Want to learn some Chess strategy basics

Unless I misunderstand, you are beginners?
Coming from someone who isn’t very good, but beyond beginner level:
Improving tactics is probably what would make the most difference in your play.
I like this site: https://www.chesstactics.org
Learning the general principles of openings and endgames would also be good. Strategy is interesting, but ultimately not impactful for beginners IMO.
