  1. Nice work, Spaceman.  Thank you for taking the time.  I always like to go in with low expectations as I tried it the other way in '06, '07, and '08 - painful still.  Once I relaxed and just worked to do my portion to help get us a Home Regional, '09 was a lot more fun and we'd have a 7th banner if Green had pitched to one more batter....  I see us hosting and think with the new rules I heard about this afternoon, maybe we automatically get the Super if we put in a healthy bid.

Omaha will take a bit more development, but Shortstack's headed back from Taiwan in time for Nebraska and told me today that she'd be disappointed if we didn't make so you're on notice, Coach Pierce.  ; )

Only the Brownies....  Really think Haslem is a Stiller spy and is doing this on purpose and I sure hope that he gets at least this one more terrible coaching hire done before the Dawgpound figures out what he's doing.

    NFL team ownership[edit]

Haslam bought a minority interest in the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2008. In 2012, he reached an agreement with Browns owner Randy Lerner to purchase the franchise for $1 billion. The Browns were valued at $977 million in 2011 by Forbes magazine, 20th in the NFL. NFL rules prohibit ownership in multiple teams and so Haslam sold his interest in the Steelers.[3][6] The Haslams' purchase of the Browns was unanimously approved by the 32 teams in the NFL on October 12; the sale itself closed thirteen days later.[7]

Since officially taking over the Browns seven games into the 2012 season, Haslam has a 21-75-1 record as team owner.

  3. Whoa, this is some dang fine news to end the weekend.  Stillers will certainly embrace this UDFA pick-up with memories of the last time they had a future HOF Longhorn in this role.  Sure hope he makes the 53.

  4. I did the same thing with Steeler cards starting with the 70 merger and when the explosion happened, I limited myself to Topps to keep my sanity.  I got the others, but only counted Topps for my mental defect in having complete sets.  I gave up around 2000, but I have a folder for each brand from Action Packed to Upper Deck with 3 for Topps (total 21) still lined up in my downstairs closet.  Moved on to bigger and better things with Longhorn cards and have way too many boxes of them taking up room upstairs...

Need to jump over to the eBay thread.

  5. We hadn't heard about the great Bevo XV vs. UGA episode as we were wandering around the concourse pregame so when Shortstack pointed out Bevo to me we went down to get a photo or two.  I was curious why his horns were tied to the wall and the guys looked like they were shell-shocked and were less than communicative as the Spurs are typically really happy to chat about the big fella.  I also found it odd that they had him facing the stands and every time he'd try to even glance around to one side or the other, they had a Spur on each side of him with the little scratchers under his belly right next to his front legs going after him to calm him down like the sweepers at an Olympic Curling competition.

After the game, we went back down there and heard about what he'd done and it all made perfect sense.  We thanked XV for his service.

I'd love to agree with you, but apparently the crowd in Oxford was electric for most of it. They had standing-room-only with over 11k packed in there and they were really loud.

Ole Miss must have gone home early as it seemed Swayze lost the electricity in the last 6 or so innings of Game #7.   Think we'll have them from all directions with the busses in RF, #LF, the WB, and the 2:00 Texas sun.  They get by us, good luck to 'em.
