    I have a moral dilemma.

My dad was huge into model railroading. As a kid we had half the garage set aside. After he retired one of his bedrooms was dedicated to a layout.

I got everything when he passed away. I have over 100 engines and over 1000 various cars and enough buildings to cover probably 100 square feet. One of my kids is mildly interested in it, we've set up a table in his room to put a layout on, but the other has no interest.

We went to King's hobby a few weeks ago looking for track and my kid is bragging about how much stuff we have to the guy working and his eyes light up and gives us a card of their buyer and says they buy everything they can get their hands on. I look at some of the prices for used items and am shocked by how high they are.

Am I a bad person if I sell off some of my dad's stuff? I do want my kids to get some of it but there's so much it just seems to be a waste gathering dust in a closet.

Would you mind DM'ing me or posting the contact info of the buyer?

Back before being discontinued, I got the last of the 200 series in the 'heritage edition' brand new. I have a lot of plans for it over time, but I'm going to need to raise the ceiling on my garage to accommodate a lift.

Drives like a bank vault though.

Short term, I want to install rock sliders, a second gas tank, move spare to the rear, and likely a 2" lift with KO2s

Are you in Austin? Saw one just like it at HEB in NW Hills today. Beautiful, congrats. Parked nearby in my lowly 2013 LC that I am also never selling.

I hope that’s the tang and not the blade

Yes. It's in great condition overall actually. Also have a near mint type 19 Kyu-Gunto officer ceremonial sword. Grandfather brought them back from occupation duty.

I appreciate all the replies and the serious reply. After some research today I learned the symbols are actually Kanji and there are  10,000+ variations of them. And therefore I also learned that Surly was not really the best place to ask about this.   But I have found an excellent forum of Japanese sword nerds who shall guide me through this journey.

  4. I am hoping it's not too late to apply preemergent in Austin (St. Augustine).

Assuming it is not, any recommendations on a good product for spring application that doesn't cost a fortune?

Apologies as I'm sure there are recommendations in the 2018 thread, but I thought maybe there is something new out now..

  5. In. Whole family of 5 has it, brought home by the youngest from day care. Feels like a standard sinus infection to me. Kids are fine. Wife has cold symptoms and fatigue but nothing too bad. we are both 3x vaxed and two older kids (5 and 8 y.o.) are double vaxed.

The reports of the 2-3 day exposure-symptoms window seemed very accurate in our case. Which is kind of nice compared to that purported 10-14 day bullshit at the beginning. Easier to trace the source, in my non-medical opinion.

Thought I might get out of this thing never catching Covid, damn!

  6. We bought a 2021 Model Y which came in in late October. Opted for the black paint, black wheels, white interior, 7 seater. It's our first Tesla/EV and the wife is absolutely obsessed with it. Kids love it too.  My only real complaint is that you need to use the damn screen to open the glovebox.

Glad we ordered when we did because 6 months later the starting price is already $5k more.

(in this case, I run sound through the 3.5mm jack on the soundcards, not through HDMI).

This is what I used to do in the early LHN days when hooking up laptop to TV with HDMI.  Windows 10 and Samsung. Not sure it is helpful these days. Does his TV have a headphone jack for Audio in?

I thought in regionals the 2.5 hour gap was rule driven (meaning we can't opt out).

I have tickets and the later it gets the less likely I can get down their with my 9 year old. So I wish we could start by 7:30

Same situation here. Any chance they bump the Fairfield/Southern game until tomorrow and let Texas/ASU go ahead as scheduled?

I'm about the same and my arm fucking hurts.  Wah.

It also seems maybe to have made the soft tissue around my two-year old broken collarbone kind of flare.  Maybe it's because I slept funny on it.  At any rate, I have bilateral sore shoulders.

I also had unusual soreness in both shoulders and soreness in trap/neck on opposite side of injection, like I slept funny on it.  Definitely a weird side effect.  only lasted a day or two though after Moderna #1. Fatigue and injection area pain the next day were also legit.
